We are an all-volunteer organization of people with a common goal of helping Senior and special needs Doberman Pinschers. That need may be financial for Doberman Rescue Groups, or it may be only information and/or moral support for the owner of a Doberman with a serious illness or injury. We will also aid Rescue Groups in rehoming and fostering senior Dobermans they may place under their care. The financial aid we provide may come from donations, occasional online auctions or SND Store sales. Every precaution is taken to assure that the need is real. SND maintains an "every penny" rule which guarantees that 100% of donations to the care of Dobermans is used ONLY for that purpose. Administrative costs are covered with proceeds from our online store, by designated donations and by occasional auctions specifically for that purpose.

HELP ME
Give me the ugly dog with one eye, three legs,
and help me show that they're more than just a form and a face.
Give me the scarred dog, burned and slashed with hate,
and help me lead it away from that terrible fate.
Give me the deaf and blind dog, and help me show it the way
in the silence and dark of each of their days.
Give me the shutdown dog, depressed of mind,
and help me cherish their soul until their fears unwind.
Give me the old dog, bent and broken with age,
and help me fill their last days with an unending grace.
Give me the ugly dog, I'll leave the pretty one for you,
and help me show them they're worthy of love and joy, too.

Meet The SNDobes Helped With General Funds!!
These Special Needs Dobermans were helped with one-time grants from our most important fund, the General Fund. This fund is used to help Dobermans fortunate enough to find themselves in Rescue Groups. Assistance is only provided for extraordinary expenses. These grants can be augmented by your generous contributions to any of these precious Dobes!! Private owners will be provided the necessary information to help them fundraise for their own Dobes as well as being given information to reduce their costs for medications and ways to seek additional information about Doberman illnesses.
| Apollo!!
|
December, 2025: Doberman Pinscher Rescue has ended the New Year with another wonderful save. Someone brought Apollo to a shelter in California claiming they "found" him wandering, coughing and feeling miserable. While we all can be grateful that he was taken off the streets, it's often the case that the "wandering, homeless dog" is not actually not without a home. This is suspected in Apollo's case. Apollo is around 7 years old and is dealing with a very poor body condition. He's a blue Dobe, but because of color dilution alopecia and nutritional neglect, one can hardly tell what color his coat is. Sadly, that is not Apollo's only problem. This beautiful boy has a raging case of pneumonia which has settled into his lungs accompanied by all the miseries of sneezing, coughing, chills and nasal discharge. He looks terrible and yes, he is miserable. Luckily, Apollo was brought to Ardis's Angels at Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore, California with the help of a retired colleague. Now the battle has commenced to save this dear boy. As mentioned, his body condition is poor BUT he is eating and his behavior is not a reflection of how sick he really is. He's friendly, affectionate and not terribly lethargic. He's been put on the big guns for medications and so far, he's tolerating them well and showing some signs of improvement. Now, we wait for the drugs to do their magic. Doberman Pinscher Rescue NEVER says no to a critically ill Doberman when possible and their track record reflects the countless Dobes they have saved from oblivion. Their website tells of an amazing history of saving, rehabilitating and rehoming Dobermans for decades. Thank you, Ardis and your army of dedicated volunteers for the lives you have SAVED and made so much better. DPR has teamed up with us at Special Needs Dobermans to help fundraise for Apollo's continued care, and we ask your help in raising donations to finance Apollo's veterinary care. He's an ever-so-sweet wonderful gentleman just on the threshold of his golden years... Please, help make those years shine. You can join us by choosing either USPS or PayPal for your donation. Need a picture of SWEET for inspiration? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. Thank you!! Leslie Michell, Apollo's Case Manager |

| Cindy!!
|
December, 2025: Although everything that has happened to this poor 5 year-old girl makes it seems like her life is just terrible suffering and of course, having babies over and again, then finally, there comes along some Dober Angels to rescue her just before the new year. Doberman Pinscher Rescue (DPR) of Fillmore, California had been eyeing her online at a shelter knowing that they would have to go the extra mile to save her. Transport would be required, but fortunately a retired colleague who was closer to the shelter picked her up so she could begin getting the care she needs and the love she’s craving. Everyone at the shelter remarked how sweet she is which made it even harder for DPR to wait until they had a foster to pull her. Cindy was in the shelter with a nonfunctioning, at an angle, rear leg and some mammary masses. During her exam, it was found that she could not extend her leg, so she had to be sedated to do x-rays. After various tests, the consensus is that her leg may have to be amputated because of the severe contracture of the muscles. For right now, she is on pain meds to keep her comfortable while DPR contacts a specialist to look at her. The Vet said that her injury was long-standing so it could have been from being hit by a car and just never taken care of. Think PAIN and lots of it! If DPR hadn’t agreed to her rescue, she surely would have been destroyed since shelters cannot keep injured dogs alive as they just do not have the staff or money to treat them all. Sad but true… DPR is truly Cindy’s angels. There have been many tests run so far (which are expensive) but many more will be needed to determine the best course by a specialist before amputation. And then and only then can the mammary masses be addressed by removal with biopsy. All of this care is very expensive as we all can imagine. DPR is very active in rescuing Dobermans in California - especially those with obvious medical needs. We all need to pitch in whatever and whenever we can to help them keep paying the bills so that our precious Dobermans can be saved. Please donate anything you can to help pay for Cindy’s outcome towards a happy life with a loving family. You can choose either USPS or PayPal and you'll be joining us on the Cindy Team! Just Look at this precious Lady here and you'll agree she's just yet another Doberman worth saving!! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU, THANK YOU and Happy 2026!! | Moxie!!
|
December, 2025: Moxie is still just a baby at approximately 7 months old. She was loose and roaming around on Georgia roads before she was hit by a car and left there. She was picked up by animal control and then lay in a local shelter for a week with a broken tibia and fractured pelvis until Doberman Underground (DU) of Aurora, Ohio became aware of her plight and came to her rescue. Can you imagine the pain after the shock wore off? On Christmas Eve, DU arranged to take her under their wings and a wonderful volunteer drove from Georgia to West Virgina on Christmas Day so that DU could get her to the ER. Poor Miss Moxie but like her name - she has a lot of moxie. She's now on very good drugs for pain and with many miles behind her, she is finally safe and being cared for. Once at the ER it was evident her rear leg couldn’t be saved – it was shattered. She was hemorrhaging a lot but made it through the amputation surgery well where recovery can begin under the care of her vet team. She is still at the emergency vet hospital in case she needs a transfusion and to manage her pain. The lump of coal in Moxie’s stocking has changed into a beautiful, bright future. She is going to be loved and spoiled. Her sweet little picture was showing pain and being scared will change to shining eyes and maybe she’ll even give the Doberman smile! Please help DU to cover the bill for caring for this beautiful youngster. It’s already over $3000 and it will continue to grow as long as she must stay in the hospital. We think you’ll agree that the DU Angels really went above and beyond to rescue this girlie so please, won’t you join them in this extraordinary mission to save Moxie? Every and any little bit you can donate really helps! Without DU, Moxie would have been destroyed due to her injuries. Now she will grow up to be healthy and loved by some lucky family. It will literally be a happy new year for Moxie and many others if we can help DU remain solvent. Join us and please donate now. Just choose either USPS or PayPal and you'll be on the Moxie train to Wellville! Look at her here and imagine what she can become with a little help from her friends!!. | Isla!!
|
December, 2025: This lovely girl, Isla, was found in rural Kentucky, where animal shelters are few and far between. At some point, Isla was discovered by a kind lady who volunteers her transport services for homeless animals. After a few days in a makeshift facility, she was discovered by a kind lady who ultimately got Isla to the attention of the wonderful angels of Bluegrass Doberman Rescue who immediately took her to MedVet for evaluation and treatment. This wonderful person saved Isla's life. It's estimated Isla is about 2 - 3 years old, but her tiny body (she only weighs 39 pounds) has been exploited and neglected. She's had several litters and is riddled with both hookworms and whipworms, but thankfully, she's NOT heartworm positive... However, she has one of the most terrifying and ominous infections out there...parvo. Isla is now cared for at MedVet, whose veterinarians gave Isla an injection of monoclonal antibodies, a new treatment option which has been shown to have some success in treating the horror of parvo. Isla is still plagued with diarrhea, but is stable now. She is eating somewhat, but clearly doesn't feel well. All the supportive care imaginable is being given to Isla and at this point, it's a moment to moment wait for improvement. NO dog should ever have to suffer with parvo.and they wouldn’t be if they had EVER received proper veterinary care. With the supportive care and monitoring at the vet's and the medication costs, this little pumpkin is running up the bills. Cutting edge life-saving treatments are not inexpensive! Sadly, with Isla, the legendary line of Jim Morrison's comes to mind - "The future is uncertain and the end is always near." I want to make sure everyone at Special Needs Dobermans knows Isla is fighting for her life and she needs the help and support of everyone you can muster for a donation. It's said this is the season of miracles. Please be part of Isla's miracle. Just choose either USPS or PayPal and join us! Even with her terrible illness, Isla is showing herself to be an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl. No one knows where she came from, but she is finally learning what kindness and love are. She needs all of us (and your friends) to help her learn that being a Doberman is a beautiful thing. Look at her here and what she can be with your help... Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU, thank you - Leslie Michell, Isla’s SND Case Manager - fingers crossed for dear Isla |

| Lawrence!!
|
November 27, 2025: This Thanksgiving Day, meet Lawrence. If his gaze looks hauntingly disconnected it’s because he was (and may yet be) on the very brink of death. He is a European fellow and approximately 4 years old. Even if he was normally slim at 90 pounds that would be okay but he is only 62 pounds making him a minimum of 30 pounds UNDERweight! He is an owner surrender. Bella and Sunshine Rescue, Inc. (BSR) of Ontario, California, was alerted to him from another Rescue WAY out in the desert. His owners took him there and gave him up because they reported they couldn’t financially care for him. They said he’s had diarrhea for over a month and stopped eating a few days before they turned him in. His picture shows he hasn’t eaten for far longer than that. His owners said they had been treating him with some “medication” that didn’t work but couldn’t remember what it was. BSR took him to their vet and first thing he showed was jaundiced eyes and gums. They did a fecal exam, x-rays, and bloodwork. X-rays showed a fluid buildup in his abdomen and the bloodwork came back with EVERTHING out of normal range. Vet said liver is failing and his liver, pancreas and gallbladder numbers were all bad. He also has blood in his diarrhea. Lawrence needed to be hospitalized but because of the Thanksgiving closure, BSR asked if they could treat him at home because a long emergency stay is way out of their budget. The Vet agreed to keep him in his office until closing at 6 and then, if the lab values didn’t improve even a little, he’d have to go to the ER. With a lot of different meds, 2 cans of food, water, and a healthy dose of CARE, Lawrence’s numbers DID improve a little. He is at a very experienced and loving foster’s now, resting with lots of meds, food, water and love. And a badly needed bath. Lawrence was clearly a neglected, outside dog: stinks to high heaven, a sickly-sweet body odor, wet dog and dirty socks smell, disgustingly dirty ears and long, long nails. The Vet was upset at his condition and made the comment that some people should NOT own a dog if they can’t take care of it – isn’t that the understatement of the century, or what?? When the professionals are still stunned and taken aback by what they see is so very telling. His initial expenses are already over $1500, but he will likely still need more bloodwork on a regular basis and soon as he’s stable enough, he needs to be neutered. This is all with the assumption that his lack of prior care won’t cause something to flare up when it’s least expected. He is scheduled for a recheck next week and if there is not enough improvement, it will be more tests and an ultrasound. BSR will be there for Lawrence like they have for the other hundreds they have helped. They are truly West Coast DoberAngels!!! BSR could use your help with Lawrence’s treatment expenses so they can get him healthy and on his way to a family that will cherish him. He’s going to be a big, beautiful, loving boy for some lucky family. His eyes will change from a disconnected stare to bright, shiny and attentive once he’s better. Want to be a part of his recovery? Please help with anything you can - it ALL helps! Just choose either USPS or PayPal and join us!. Consider this his "before" picture and imagine what can be... Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. ALL of us at SND, BSR and of course Lawrence THANK YOU so much!!! Lorri Ketterman, Lawrence's SND Case Manager. |

| Nitro!!
|
November, 2025: This handsome fellow is 6.5 year old Nitro. He's wondering if you are familiar with TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) surgery? It's a common procedure that treats tears of the CCL (crainal cruciate ligament, similar to human ACL tears). A very simplified exlanation of the surgery is: reshaping the tibia then plates and screws are used to change the angle of that bone which in turn stablizes the knee joint. An unstable knee joint causes unsteadiness and chronic pain which will both increase with time. The goal of the operation is to prevent the knee from sliding forward to avoid further instability and pain. TPLO surgery is a lengthy and costly procedure. In the case of Nitro, he had this very surgery done in 2023 on one knee. However, in August 2025, his elderly owners noticed that he was now favoring his opposite leg!! Unable to afford another TPLO, euthanizing him would've been their only option. Luckily for Nitro, they decided to surrender him to the dedicated rescuers of Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Pennsylvania, located in Fleetwood! DPRPA are dedicated and can provide the treatment and aftercare Nitro requires to live a happy and pain free future! Nitro has been maintained on pain medication as surgery is scheduled for December 10th. DPRPA is raising funds for Nitro, however they still need assistance, which brings them to our SND family! Nitro is a very sweet and loving boy with so much more life to live!! If possible, would you please donate ANY amount possible towards his upcoming surgery. NO amount is ever too small and EVERY gift is extremely appreciated!! All you need to do to be a part of Nitro's painfree future is to click on the tab below that correlates with your preferred method of giving, either USPS or PayPal. Further directions will follow. Look at this handsome Dude and join in! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. On behalf of Nitro and DPRPA, SND would like to take this opportunity to say thank you so very much for any support you may be able to provide!! THANK YOU!!! | Leia!!
|
November,
2025: Meet
Leia! She has a spellbinding face... the face of a grand, beautiful
princess whose eyes shine directly into the soul. As a Senior, she never
rose to her throne as Queen... She was found on the streets, and it
was soon discovered by Bella and Sunshine Rescue that she had a microchip.
Leia was a stray - abandoned. A senior girl who gave her youth to people
who decided they just didn't want her anymore. The individuals on the
microchip were contacted and because she was no longer wanted, they
just dumped her on the street. Leia is about 7 years old. At some point
she was or must have been loved by those who chose to abandon her. None
of us can fathom abandoning a dog, let alone throwing her to the streets.
Thankfully, she was soon taken in by our heros at Bella and Sushine
Rescue - who were and are, astonished by Leia's affectionate, calm demeanor.
I urge you to carefully look at all Leia's pictures on our pages and
our Facebook announcement. This beautiful girl must be extremely uncomfortable.
Not only is she covered with lipomas (some suspicious looking), her
teeth are gawdawful and her coat has been neglected for who knows how
long. Yet, Leia shines. She's an all time volunteer favorite! She is
gentle and sweet to everyone and everything - other dogs, cats, rabbits
– she’s a friend to all. Dear Leia is a treasure and a world
class diplomat to all , biped and quadruped AND for her breed, the Doberman
Pinscher. She has only beautiful things inside her big heart. Bella
and Sunshine has asked Special Needs Dobermans for financial assistance
to address Leia's multiple veterinary needs. Given that this dear girl
has many issues, her people at Bella and Sunshine don't know how much
money it will eventually cost to get this beautiful girl healthy...
but they are determined to do everything to get dear Leia back on track
to a new beginning with a Forever Family who will cherish her. It's
obvious her issues cannot be resolved all at once, but Special Needs
Dobermans will be with Leia and Bella and Sunshine for all Leia's needs,
and we're going to need ongoing funds to get Leia feeling once again
wonderful! Have you ever loved a senior? If yes, then you know how special
that love is... Help make this beautiful senior Leia's life what it
should be... yes, she's beautiful now, but just imagine what she'll
look like once she's feeling better. It's easy to be a part of Leia's
future if you're able - just click on your preferred means of donating,
either USPS
or PayPal, and instructions will be right there. Need a look at a
precious Leia for a tug at your heart? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org.
As A Senior Lady, she'll soon have her own page as she looks for her
forever home - stay tuned and we'll give you a link soon. THANK YOU
, thank you!! Leslie Michell, Leia's SND Case Manager. Lover of Senior

| Lily!!
|
November,
2025: This
beautiful Senior Lady appears to not have ever been cared for in the
past, but, thanks to Bella and Sunshine Rescue, Inc. in Ontario, California
(BSR) she is now with a foster family and being loved and taken care
of A to Z. Lily is guessed to be anywhere between 8-11 years old and
like so many others that come through SND, she had a litany of things
that were not taken care of to keep her happy and comfortable in her
Senior years. Lily arrived at the shelter with an upper respiratory
infection, fleas, dermatitis, both ears inflamed and clogged with dirt,
wax, and debris, a seeping eye with conjunctivitis, corneal edema, back
leg swaying gait, skin infection, and a heart murmur. Lily was so lucky
she landed in a very selective-entry no-kill shelter or surely we wouldn’t
be talking about her now. She was there for four months as they took
care of most of her issues. The wonderful volunteers there loved her
and advocated for her but due to her age and medical conditions, she
wasn’t getting any adoption interest. The volunteers kept trying
and eventually they called BSR to aid in securing Lily's future. Luckily,
BSR found a willing foster and Lily got to go where she will get royally
spoiled! Right now, it’s just medicated baths, eye ointment, and
thyroid medication. Her heart murmur is only slight, so they are just
keeping an eye on that. Her initial entry medical veterinary checkup
was not cheap. They did a Senior blood panel, thyroid panel, ear cytology,
as well as x-rays of her back and legs. Lily is hypothyroid of course
as this is pretty common in Dobermans of her age. Her swinging gait
is caused from severe arthritis in her lower back but NOT dysplasia
as was feared. Won’t you please send a “thank you!”
donation to Lily for all the great care she has gotten from her new
Angels at BSR? Her care will be ongoing until she, hopefully, gets adopted
by some lucky family. Look at her sweet face! She’s deserves the
best for the rest of her life and BSR will make sure that is exactly
what she’s in for now! Please help! BSR is one Rescue that continuously
takes Dobies that need help including the really hard and expensive
cases. There have been so many helped! They are there as a soft place
for all the sweet Dobies who need help to land safely. Please do help
with any donation you can. It all matters… just like Lily! It's
easy if you're able - just click on your preferred means of donating,
either USPS
or PayPal, and instructions will be right there. Need a look at a
precious Dame to help you open your heart? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org.
As A Senior Lady, she'll have her own page as she looks for her forever
home - stay tuned and we'll give you a link soon. Miss Lily, BSR
and all of us at SND THANK YOU!! Be a part of her journey along
with us! Lorri Ketterman, Lily's SND Case Manager |

| Halsey!!
|
November, 2025: I'm going to tell you about Halsey, a current rescue pull from a shelter after being dumped by a dispicable back yard "greeder!" She's only ONE YEAR OLD, has already had a litter of puppies (and she's still just a puppy herself), AND she was in heat again when she was rescued by the Dobe Angels of High Desert Doberman Rescue located in Belen, New Mexico. To begin telling you of her horribly abusive past... Halsey is very underweight at only 41 lbs. She tested positive for both giardia and erlichia which required a month long antibiotic medication regimen to get those infections under control. Her ears have been hacked off (knife? scissors?). Xrays revealed that at some point in time she sustained a SEVERE IMPACT to her right shoulder that SEVERED THE NERVES (sounds fishy to me) resulting in palsy of her right foreleg!! That leg is now non-functioning and the paw is badly damaged and severely degloved from it dragging on the ground - right! Veterninary care NOT apparent! It's no surprise she's developed osteomyelitis in her paw, causing severe bone loss. Unfortunately, there's no way to save the leg at all, amputation is the only option. Although Halsey is on strong antibiotic therapy for the osteomyelitis, her health has to be better improved before she can have the amputation and spay surgeries. I can't even imagine the pain she's endured with the hacked ears, bone infection, a degloved paw... and she's only ONE year old!! Even though this pup has been living for months in severe pain, she remains affectionate and sweet!! The rescue warriors of HDDR are asking for our assistance for sweet Halsey's impending surgeries and her aftercare. Wouldn't you like to be a part of bringing Halsey back to a pain free life? We’re hoping that’s a YES! A donation of ANY amount would be greatly appreciated as NO gift is ever too small! To help Halsey and HDDR, just click on your preferred means of donating, either USPS or PayPal, and instructions will be right there. Halsey, HDDR and we at SND humbly thank you in advance for your compassionate graciousness. Please look at this precious Girlie in the arms of an Angel, getting the safety and love she's always deserved but did not get, UNTIL NOW! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. YOU will be a part of making her whole again! THANK YOU!! Beth McCahren, Halsey's very grateful for you joining us, SND Case Manager |

| Lili
!!
|
November, 2025: This Beautiful Lili was discovered by our friends at Bella and Sunshine Rescue from Ontario, California, in a shelter and listed for euthanasia. She is covered with lumps and bumps, was bleeding from a broken premolar and had a number of mammary tumors. When Bella and Sunshine's volunteer found out that Lili is possibly under 3 years old, they were floored! It was discovered that dear Lili has had at least 3 litters, no heartworm treatment (thankfully, she's negative) and negligible veterinary attention (if any). Poor, beautiful Lili was a puppy machine!! Repeatedly bred over and over for nothing more than lining the pockets of her back yard breeders. After she wore out her welcome with her "owners" she was unceremoniously discarded at the shelter without the babies she lived to produce. In spite of everything she's been through in her short life, Lily remains affectionate, cheerful and thoroughly lovely. Today, because of the wonderful people at Bella and Sunshine, Lily's medical needs are being addressed. She's had her spay, a suspicious growth on her lovely face excised and her mammary tumors addressed. Because of the concern of sepsis, her doctor elected to wait for her dental extraction so she can regain strength and be given a round of antibiotics to protect her from infection. She still has a way to go, but Lili is strong and doing well and will soon be rid of her broken tooth. Her bills are adding up, and her dental visit has not been factored into the equation as yet, but you can be sure Lili will be feeling so much better very soon. She's a wonderful, beautiful girl! The Bella and Sunshine Angels have come to Special Needs Dobermans for help with Lili's mounting bills. She's still a puppy and she's been through so much, but now she's safe and will get the best of care. Please, make your donation to help defray Lili's increasing bills and keep Bella & Sunshine doing what they do best - saving more Dobermans!! Sometime soon, with your help, Lili will be gracing the home of a loving family and living the life she's meant to live. Look into those beautiful blue eyes and send a donation now won't you? Just click on the link you prefer to donate, either USPS or PayPal, and instructions are right there. Go ahead, make her day! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. She will charm your dreams! Thank you!! Leslie Michell, Lili's thoroughly charmed Case Manager |

| Xena!!
|
November, 2025: Meet Xena – This Warrior Princess is fighting for life after being taken to an animal control facility in Philadelphia. The family who had adopted her originally lost their house to a fire. They relocated to another home, Xena and a male Dobe were kept crated all day while the owners were gone. Unfortunately, they had moved into a neighborhood that turned out to be not dog friendly. Eventually, Xena and the male were turned into the shelter. The real question is why Xena had been adopted, un-spayed, originally. And then Xena and her pal finally caught a break! The wonderful folks at Distinguished Dobermans Rescue Inc. (DDRI) in Clinton, Pennsylvania, heard of their plight and rescued them to get them to get them to a home where they could get proper loving care. Xena is between 2 to 3 years old and appears to have had a litter in the past. DDRI took Xena to be spayed, and recovery seemed to go well at first. The vet staff later had a hard time bringing her temperature back up. They eventually got it up enough for her to be discharged to DDRI. The foster mom helped raise her temperature a bit more, but Zena seemed too lethargic. Xena went outside and the foster noticed blood drops on the floor coming from the spay incision, so Xena was off to UPenn. She was admitted and planned a stay until they could figure out what was going on. Bloodwork did not show any anemia however she began to decline. She was given a transfusion, and the vet is talking exploratory surgery if she doesn’t improve. That will be determined later today. The costs are already nearly $3K but will rise to 6-8K if an exploratory becomes necessary. Won’t you please help this sweet girl whose young life has had so many ups and downs? Donating is easy if you can help - Just click on the link you prefer to donate, either USPS or PayPal, and instructions are right there. Help us be there and join in to thank DDRI for stepping up to help this little lady!! She IS a beautiful Warrior Princess - regal as a Doberman Princess can be - take a look! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org Any amount will help. Yes, times are very hard right now but if we all don’t pitch in, even just a little, the Rescues will fail and then more Dobermans will needlessly die. THANK YOU!! Lorri Ketterman, Xena's SND Case Manager. |

| Rizzo!!
|
November, 2025: The rescue warriors of Dogwood Doberman Rescue of Matthews, North Carolina, were contacted by an animal shelter regarding a stray Doberman family that Animal Control had 'dropped off" to them. The family consisted of an obviously very overbred female Dobie and her three babies.... babies being only 12 - 15 weeks old!! They were all in poor condition, each suffering from mange, malnourishment and overall neglect. Even so, they were gentle, trusting and extremely eager for affection. This brings us to sweet little Rizzo - Rizzo has a VERY severe congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. This is actually a combination of FOUR heart defects (pulmonary stenosis, right ventricular thickening, ventricular septal defect, overridden aorta) that causes oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood to mix. This combination of defects makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. Some of the risks of this disease are right or left sided congestive heart failure, blood clots that can possibly travel to the lungs, collapsing episodes and even sudden death! Patients with this diagnosis can live a longer life span of 5 - 7 years however more severly affected patients usually live only 2 - 3 years. The most common early symptom of this defect is exercise intolerance due to the lack of oxygen in the blood. Rizzo isn't presently having these symptoms, however she could easily develop them at any time. She is currently being treated by a cardiac specialist for medical management and palliative care. Her ongoing medication and special diet costs approximately $400/month as well as an echocardiogram every 3 months at $780. DDR's ultimate goal is to ensure puppy Rizzo continues to recieve the highest quality care, comfort and love for as however long she has. | Rex!!
|
October,
2025: Most
of us would agree we live in the greatest country in the world, but
it doesn't mean society is perfect... presenting Rex, a dear old gentleman
picked off the streets of California and taken to a high-kill shelter.
Given how Rex looks, it's a miracle he was spared the final needle of
oblivion in time to be scooped up by Bella and Sunshine Rescue of Ontario,
California. Look at his pictures. It's a matter of debate if Rex EVER
had a home, much less a name. He has angry pressure sores on both hips;
he's rail thin, his eyes are a bit cloudy. The tales he could tell aremost
likely heartbreaking. But, finally, Rex got lucky. Rex was discovered
by Bella and Sunshine Rescue at the shelter by one of their amazing
volunteers who drove a 5 hour round trip to get him to safety and love.
On this journey, Rex quietly observed his circumstances during
the long trip with quiet affection and gentle manners. His initial behavioral
assessment reflects a lovely old soul who's forgiven whoever abandoned
him to the mean streets. He could be anywhere from 8 to 11 years old,
but he is amazingly sweet. It's painfully apparent Rex probably never
had a name, never was loved and never had veterinary care or appropriate
training. He didn't even know the sit command. All that has now changed.
Bella and Sunshine will make sure Rex will get all the miracles love,
good groceries and top shelf veterinary care will provide. Rex will
finally learn that he matters and life is "worth it." It will
be a long road, but with Rex's sunny personality and Doberman will,
Rex will soon shine. This doesn't come cheaply as we all know... Bella
and Sunshine are going to give Rex all the good things life can offer
and have asked us at Special Needs Dobermans for assistance in making
Rex's story one of happiness, health and love for the rest of his days.
Please, send a donation to SND for this dear, wise gentleman.
I think you will agree that there is nothing better than knowing you
have helped a beautiful, loving senior Doberman find love, happiness
and health. Join us now, won't you? You can make a donation by using
either USPS
or PayPal. Thank you for your compassion. Just take a look at
the face of hope on this Gent! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org.

| Ginny!!
|
October, 2025: This is a truly bizarre and troubling story. Ginny is a youngster at 1 year old when she was released from a reputable Rescue (RR), along with several other dogs, by another Rescue who turned out to not be so good for Ginny and the others. This questionable Rescue (QR) took all the dogs they had claimed to a boarding facility and then abandoned them there. The QR did not pay the bills so abandonment procedures were started for all the dogs. The boarding facility wanted to get them released into their custody so they could try to adopt them out and not have to send them to a shelter yet again. While there, little Ginny went into labor. No one could tell she was pregnant. She gave birth to 2 pups and after 12+ hours of contractions, they took her to an emergency clinic. An ultrasound was done and showed 3 more puppies in her uterus but they were at odd angles and likely why they couldn’t come out of the birth canal normally. Those remaining puppies were endangering Ginny’s life. The kind Boarding owner paid for the ultrasound and asked about a c-section. This Vet wanted over $10,000 for the c-section and spay. This is when Bella and Sunshine Rescue (BSR) in Ontario, California was contacted and became involved. With their networking and other Rescue friends, they found a compassioinate Vet who would do the procedures at a much reduced rate. That happened to be everything they had left in their checking account. All the stars had aligned to get this sweet puppy taken care saved. If she had been at a shelter, she would have surely died. With the efforts of many volunteers, the wonderful boarding kennel folks AND BSR, they were able to find a vet to save her precious life. As it was, our kind Vet found there were complications not foreseen! Ginny's uterus had become punctured and leaked decomposing fluids into the abdominal cavity. Of course this complicated the C-section and required abdominal lavage to prevent deadly sepsis. Three stillborn - one of them dangerously decomposing within. The threat of sepsis will be treated and watched of course. Ginny came through the operation and is being a perfectly little mother! Now we have a beautiful healthy Mom-puppy with two healthy puppies of her own. Won't you please donate anything you can to help BSR shore up their budget? This case literally took BSR’s cash reserves to ZERO. BSR has done so much to help Dobermans in need in California. Please join us and lets get them in a position to be ready for the next Doberman who needs them. There always is. And we are so thankful that BSR is there! You can make a donation by using either USPS or PayPal. Look at this beautiful Mom-puppy taking nursing her two puppies! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU TO THE MAX for being a part of this Little Family's Life!! Lorri Ketterman, Ginny and the Pup's Case Manager |

| Clover!!
|
October, 2025: Charming Clover is an approximately two year old stray who was picked up on the streets of San Antonio, Texas. Fearing she would be hit by a car or abused, the good samaritan who found Clover did what they thought was best for her safety and turned her into a shelter. However, it was a HIGH KILL shelter, and chances of Clover actually getting out of there alive were quite slim. Local to the animal shelter is San Antonio Doberman Advocacy & Rescue. Luckily, the rescue warriors of SADAR were notified of Clover and off to the shelter they went to break her free of all of the noise and chaos (we all know Dobers do not to well in a shelter environment). Clover was subsequently taken to SADAR's vet for an initial intake assessment and to schedule a spay date. The assessment revealed that Clover tested positive for both the deadly heartworms and hookworms too! Poor girl, along with being treated for hookworms, she also has to undergo the long and brutal arsenic-based heartworm treatment. The medication to eliminate adult heartwoms comes at a hefty price in $$$ not to mention the harsh effects on the animal. SADAR has come to our SND family in hopes of assistance. SADAR is no stranger to treating heartworms, which makes them well aware of the costs and aftercare involved. They have also rescued two other Dobermans from painful death by heartworm. Most parts of Texas have become high-incidence heartworm areas and especially southern Texas. Dogs MUST be kept on preventative year-round. Prevention isn't cheap BUT it's a lot cheaper than treatment not to mention the threat to the infected animal. If possible, it would be GREATLY appreciated if you could donate ANY amount to offset Clover's medical fees. NO donation is ever too small!! And it's tax deductible, too. Once the treatment is completed, Clover will be ready to go to the forever home she deserves! You can make a donation by using either USPS or PayPal. Just lick on the link of your choice and the instructions will be there for you. Take a look at this beautiful young lady then join in on the NO Heartworms Train! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. ALL of the many rescued Dobermans, the dedicated rescues like SADAR and we at SND are forever grateful for your support! | Dorian!!
|
October, 2025: There is no shortage of sad stories coming out of the Shelters in California and nationally too. This story concerns beautiful 2 year old Dorian, found as a stray some two years ago. At first, things were looking up for Dorian - he was adopted by the individuals that initially adopted him from the same shelter. BUT Dorian apparently wore out his welcome at home and wound up on the streets again. Thankfully, Dorian came to the attention to the stellar folks at Bella and Sunshine Rescue - where the sun always shines for guys like Dorian. The wonderful volunteers from Bella and Sunshine whisked sweet Dorian in a flash and immediately got him to their veterinarians... why, you ask? Dorian has a horrible open growth on one of his forelegs, which is making this sweet, young pup miserable. Dorian has been licking and chewing on the growth, most likely because it's very painful. While the pathology and biopsy studies are not in as yet, Dorian has had this injury (?) dressed by Bella and Sunshine's able veterinarians and he's been given some good drugs, which has made him much more comfortable. He remains sweet and happy as a young Doberguy should be... but we're waiting on the edge of our seats for the news of exactly what this growth really is. Please think healing thoughts for this beautiful baby. It would be impossible to count how many Dobermans Bella and Sunshine Rescue has helped out of dire situations and found loving homes for. It's all done by dedicated and loving volunteers who make certain their charges get the love, care and veterinary treatment to make sure they live their best lives. We all know veterinary care is expensive - trained veterinary techs, supplies, and the ever increasing costs of medications is making it more and more difficult to help animals in need, and Bella and Sunshine is no exception. Dorian's care will require a number of vet appointments, x-rays, medications and consultations. Thank you, Bella and Sunshine, for taking Dorian's case once again - this is a hallmark of true commitment of rescue. Please, send a donation along to Special Needs Dobermans for wonderful Dorian and those at Bella and Sunshine, who honor their commitment to Dobermans NO MATTER WHAT! Donations can be made by either clicking USPS or PayPal on the right. Look at this precious hopeful face! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. It's an honor to announce Dorian's case. Just knowing he's now comfortable is a reward in itself as we await his test results, which will be announced when they are recieved. Thank you! Leslie Michell - Dorian's friend, Special Needs Dobermans Case Manager. |

| Twix!!
|
October, 2025: We love our sometimes stubborn by nature Dobermans but this girl’s obsession nearly cost her her life… TWICE! Twix is still a puppy at 10 months old so she is constantly chewing and testing the textures of everything she can find. She also has anxiety issues which manifest into pica. Pica is a condition where the dog persistently consumes non-food items, such as rocks, dirt, clothing, etc. Twix got hold of a corn cob in September and swallowed it leading to an incredibly expensive oobstruction operation for her owner, a disabled veteran. EIGHT thousand dollars later, Trix came through the operation like a trooper! Then, when she was unattended for long enough (5 minutes?) for her Dad to take a shower, Twix found a box of latex gloves and decided it was a great thing to chew on. Once out of the shower, her owner found the remnants of the box and waited to see if she would throw up the gloves, which she did. But she didn’t get better. This veteran who loves Twix immensely, took her back to the emergency vet to see if more gloves were still inside her. Twix had indeed thrown up all the gloves but there was something else obstructing her intestines. At this point, the owner could not find anywhere where he could get the surgery done cheaper, especially since it is right on the heels of her last obstruction surgery of $8K which he was still paying. The ER clinic would not do the surgery due to the outstanding bill. With a broken heart he lovingly but sadly asked Georgia Doberman Rescue (GDR) of Douglasville, Georgia to take her and save her life. The clinic likely didn’t tell them that she was not be be left unattended if she were not wearing a muzzle – a necessity for dogs with a pica tendency. Of course, GDR took her immediately to the University of Georgia. The veterinarians there said if there had been any delay, even just a few more hours, she likely would not have made it. It was a far more complex surgery due to the past surgery. She was also very close to perforation. Once in surgery, they found a spherical dog toy – not a ball and no more gloves. The owner had no idea when she might have eaten the toy. GDR stepped up to save this youngsters’ life. Will you please do the same and help GDR to cover the bill for this puppy? They have saved so many lives and will continue to do the good on-the-ground work if we can help and continue to support them. Please join us and GDR, won't you? Anything you can do will keep these everyday miracles happening. Donations can be made by either clicking USPS or PayPal on the right. Look at this girl and imagine her happy and hopefully growing out of her pica problem! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org. THANK YOU as always for your support of these precious ones! | Sable!!
|
October,
2025: Here,
we have another Doberman who was left outside with little care.
Sable is guestimated to be seven years old. She did have an owner, however
that person passed away. The deceased's daughter cleaned out the family
home but left Sable behind saying "IT's not MY dog"! (Can
you even imagine! Yep, bet you can - we've seen and heard it all before)!
Construction workers renovating the house kept Sable company along with
their personal dogs and children, but otherwise, she was all alone!
Finally, a realtor found Sable and reached out to a friend who
is a vet tech, and in turn the tech got in touch with the Rescue Warriors
of Bluegrass Doberman Rescue located in Louisville, Kentucky. So, here
goes the same old same old... Surpise, surprise, NOT!! Sable is heartworm
positive. She also has dental issues to be addressed when her health
is in better order. Sable's foster family says she has the 'sweetest
temperment', especially after spending so much time alone. This 'lil
darling is good with dogs and kitties and is crate and house trained
- who could ask for anything more?? The wonderful rescuers of BDR have
come to us for assistance with bringing her to the good health she deserves
including the costly heartworm treatment that Sable MUST have to save
her life. Without that harsh treatment itself, a slow and horrible
death would be her future. This perfect little lady deserves to have
a happy home where she can do what she loves best, and that is to be
with her people!! Won't you please donate any amount you possibly can
toward dear Sable's care and return to good health? NO amount is ever
too small (and is even tax deductible). You can donate by either USPS
or PayPal, just click on the preferred method below and instructions
will follow. The SND Dobermans, the fabulous and faithful rescuers and
we SND case workers appreiate your gifts more than you know!! Want some
inspiration? Look at Dame Sable! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org!

| Mars!!
|
October, 2025: Out of this world Mars! This lovely boy bears a most awesome name - Mars!! A member of the planetary pantheon, the God of War is fighting for his future. At 6 or so years old, this smiling boy was an owner surrender to the Marin County shelter. In fact, while he was being transported, the volunteers from his rescue angels were terrified of him - because they never saw a Dobe smile before! His transporters conceded he is actually incredibly sweet, they just didn't know Dobermans smile! And this Mars really knows how to give a full wrinkled up face, teeth and gums showing grin. To quote Annalisa, he's simply adorable. To be sure, Mars was smiling because his rescuers from Bella and Sunshine Rescue in Ontario, California are saving him from a life of oral pain and certain deterioration of his health having survived the shelter. Periodontal disease is linked to all manner of other serious health issues, such as cardiac disease. Dental health is important! Poor Mars' mouth is a mess. Two teeth. a molar and premolar were completely rotted and barely hanging on, which his vet immediately removed. We don't know if his periodontal disease will result in bone loss in the mandible, but Mars is recovering well from the extractions and without a doubt, he's feeling much more comfortable. His breath before the procedure could stop a freight train and now he'll be able to undergo a complete dental exam and a deep periodontal cleaning to get rid of the tartar and any underlying infection. It's a big and expensive procedure, which sometimes involves cutting away infected tissue in the gums. If you've ever had a gingivectomy, you know what this involves. Bella and Sunshine ordinarily does not come across oral infections this serious, but we at Special Needs Dobermans took one look at this poor guy's teeth and gladly will help raise the money Mars needs to get his mouth healthy and restore his beautiful smile. Please let everyone you know that oral health is so very important for our canine friends. Tell them about Mars's teeth - and get everyone to be aware - including your own dentist!. Please send a donation to help Special Needs Dobermans restore this most handsome dude's smile and assure his good health. Donations can be made by either USPS or PayPal. Just click on the link you prefer and instuctions will be there! Here's a closer look at this handsome hunk of Dobermanl! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! | Daisy!!
|
October, 2025: The scenario: While driving along a road in Fillmore, California, a couple observed a black Doberman "lying in a Ditch"! The location was approximately two blocks away from "Doberman Pinscher Rescue", therefore, the alarmed couple alerted the rescue of the Doberman they saw. The rescue warriors of DPR (AKA Dobies and Little Paws) immediately rushed to the Doberman's side. She was clearly in TERRIBLE pain with a badly broken leg as well as road rash covering her body. The Doberman was not one of DPR's, as was first feared, however she had been microchipped. The original owner was notified and she reported the Dobe had been given away over a year ago. Big surprise (not), the second party was unreachable. Owner #1 willingly relinquished "Daisy" to DPR which then led to Daisy being evaluated by DPR's veterinarians. Daisy is ONLY THREE years old!! Result from Vet: X-rays confirmed the leg was broken in SIX DIFFERENT places and was, unfortunately, NOT repairable. Although amputation was inevitable, the good news is Daisy's prognosis for rehab and recovery are expected to be successful!! Late breaking news: Daisy's amputation has been postponed. She hasn't been able to support her weight on her good leg. Her vet team will rehab the leg to be sure she'll be able to stand on it and rule out any neuorological damage that may have occurred. As we all know, DPR has for many years, provided life saving care and support to innumerable, homeless Dobermans, giving them a new life. With this totally unexpected emergent surgery, DPR has come to our SND family for assistance with funding Daisy's medical bills and rehab. ANY amount you'd like to donate is 100% appreciated (and is tax deductible too)! Donations are by either USPS or PayPal. Just click on the link you prefer and instuctions will be there! The Dobes, the Rescues and we at SND thank you for your kindness and are forever grateful for your assistance! Here's a look at this beautiful Lady in waiting for the promise of a pain-free futurel! | Jules!!
|
October, 2025: Imagine having brushes in your eyes all day every day and not being able to blink without the brushes scraping over your eyes. That is what sweet 5-year-old Miss Jules has been going through. It’s probably been that way for her entire 5 years of existence. Luckily, she ended up in a shelter so that the wonderful people at Doberman Pinscher Rescue (DPR) in Fillmore, California could swoop in and rescue her. At the Rescue, they immediately noticed that her eyes had to be cleaned daily so they saw indeed it was entropion. Entropion is where the eyelids turn inward and the eyelashes are resting directly on the cornea. DPR asked their trusty Vet to fix her eyelids while she was under for getting spayed but he had to decline saying that Jules would have to be under anesthesia for far too long. Once she recovered from her spay, they fixed both her eyelids. What a relief that must have been! Jules did need a specialist to do the surgeries so that upped the costs somewhat. She had to wear a cone and be watched carefully so she wouldn’t rub her eyes. Takes near constant watching we can tell you! Now this sweet-faced Dobergirl can blink all she wants without pain. She is a bit thin, probably because she was in so much constant anxiety and pain from her eyes. But now she’ll get to a great weight and will be ready for her perfect home so she can charm her owners with her sparkling, happy eyes! DPR has been a main anchor in Southern California for the rescue of Dobermans but they cannot continue without generous donors helping! So please donate whatever you can and spread the word far and wide to help this great organization and their sweet charge, Jules. Just click on your preference of either PayPal or USPS and instructions will be there for follow. You'll be giving this jewel, Miss Jules, the gift of painless sight to enjoy her new world! | Cole!!
|
September, 2025: Another extremely head-scratching case for SND. Meet sweet Cole. A two-year-old Dober Dude with a load of problems and no answers. He was picked up from shelter on September 2nd by August’s Angels Home out of Laguna Nigel, California. This poor guy had no energy, didn’t want to walk or eat. That doesn’t sound like any normal, healthy 2 year old Dobe for sure! He was also intermittingly shaking. The shelter attributed that to the shelter environment, depression, and anxiety – the environment in a shelter can be all of those things and worse for a dog who is sick. Who will ever know what this youngster has been through? His lack of appetite lasted for a couple of days, then he started coughing and he has a runny nose and goopy, runny eyes. Certainly parvo-like syptoms. Cole was an owner dump and came with several scars on his body. It could be he has been very mistreated but to be sure, he was in a poor situation at best. He is now struggling to get better. The August’s Angels Home folks are giving it all they’ve got to help this boy. Not very much other information has come out but he is still in the hospital so the cash register just keeps on tabulating, over $5,000 so far. The Rescue is new to SND and we welcome them and want to show them that we are here to help them raise the funds they need to keep doing the hard work on the ground. As you all know, without funds, these Rescues will fold and then who will help all the wonderful Dobobermans that with a little help can find great homes instead of being euthanized because no one cared enough to try to save them. Please donate anything you can to help this youngster. Everything helps and this boy deserves his shot at a happy life. A better one than he’s seen so far... Cole will soon have a happy face and bright eyes! Please join us and be a part of assuring he gets that future. Just click on your preference of either PayPal or USPS and instructions will be there for follow. Whatever he's been through, he's Doberman through and through - noble, trusting and loving even in his illness. Want some proof of this? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANKS FROM ALL OF US TO YOU for your kindness from August Angels and SND! Lorri Ketterman, Cole's SND Case Manager |

| Blaze!!
|
September, 2025: This is a head-scratching tale of a gorgeous 3 and half year-old DUDE, Blaze. Blaze was an owner turn into the great folks at San Antonio Doberman Advocacy & Rescue in Devine, Texas. Blaze’s right front paw had a terrible open injury with part of the metacarpal bone showing through. He was owner turn-in to SADAR and likely why the owners surrended him. They said they weren’t sure exactly how it happened but thought maybe his paw got injured when it was stuck under a fence. When they pulled it out the injury became apparent. Hard to believe they wouldn’t have noticed exactly when such a serious injury happened, especially as they were the ones who pulled his paw out. We’ll never know and it’s irrelevant now as he is safe in the arms of the SADAR Angels. He came to SADAR with current blood work and rabies vaccination so at least hw was getting that level of care. SADAR took Blaze to their local Vet who did x-rays which showed a deformity to two outside right digits. The Vet was also worried about a possible bone marrow infection and Blaze was then taken to a specialist to evalautate his paw. The surgeon decided to perform partial amputation of his paw removing the digit with the bone that had been exposed. Now he is back at the foster with a cute club bandage to help while he heals. It’s already so hard to keep him quiet. You know he has to be feeling so much better! Everything that he went through was just over $3500 which made a serious dent in SADAR’s budget. Won’t you please help us help them so this wonderful Devine, Texas Rescue can keep doing great work like they did for Blaze? Just click on your preference of either PayPal or USPS and instructions will be there for follow. Pretty soon, Blaze will be running round like the BLAZES!! What a sight that will be. He’s beautiful and will make someone a perfect companion. Need some inspiration for helping? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU for your support of Blaze, SADAR and SND! | Elfie!!
|
September, 2025: Do you ever see an elderly person - in the store, walking down the sidewalk, at the movies? The weathered faces speak of a thousand battles, yet carry the capacity of gentle intelligence - the sort of knowledge that comes with a lifetime of challenges, evident, but unspoken. The wise and beautiful face of our newest Special Needs Doberman is Elfie, the Doberman version of a gentle, wizened life. Elfie was taken in by a shelter - a shelter that saw the beauty in her eyes, and arranged to have her taken in by Dogwood Doberman Rescue in Durham, North Carolina. It's difficult to imagine what Elfie has seen in her life. She's guesstimated to be at least 10 years old. She has benign masses (lipomas) all over her body, including a tumor the size of a baseball on her mammary chain. Her dental health is non-existent - to use the description her rescuers used, her teeth are "terrible." On top of that, she's Heartworm positive too!! Discard her because of all these problems? DDR though NOT! Looking at her picture, as beautiful as she is, makes your heart hurt. No one really knows if Elfie ever had a home, but life for Elfie has taken a amazing turn for the better. Her caretakers at Dogwood adore her and immediately realized that Elfie is not only a survivor, but a strong, affectionate and blazingly smart Dobergirl. DDR is going to make sure Elfie's senior chapters will be filled with love, a home to call her own and the best veterinary care possible. This is where you and Special Needs Dobermans enter Elfie's future. Seniors are a huge part of our lives - and like fine single malt scotch, senior Dobermans simply get better with time. The wisdom, the mellowed gait and the deep eyes filled with soul grab the heart and never let go. Senior Dobermans are reflections of own hearts. I appeal to you to take a look into this beautiful girl's eyes. Once you do, you will be taken in by a Dobe that will tell you a thousand stories. And those stories will get even better, as she recovers and finds the forever home she's deserved her whole life. Special Needs Dobermans will use your donation for Elfie to help treat those horrible heartworms and clean up her broken and rotted teeth. She will be happy and comfortable – something she has not felt for far too long, if ever. Please, get on the happy train for Elfie and we all can watch a breathtaking transformation - better than ANY movie. | Delilah!!
|
August, 2025: Today is a very noteworthy day, as Special Needs Dobermans welcomes Dogwood Doberman Rescue of Charlotte, North Carolina to our team of rescues dedicated to the health, well-being and adoption of Dobermans they have taken under their kind wings. Dogwood Doberman Rescue relies on the dedication of their wonderful volunteers, who take their rescued Dobermans into their personal homes because Dogwood Doberman Rescue does not have a brick-and-mortar facility as other rescues might have. This advocacy for our breed has resulted in many happy adoptions and their mission is, of course, to help as many Dobes in need as possible. In February, this group of wonderful people rescued beautiful Diliiah, a lovely 2 year old adolescent girl with serious orthopedic problems. This dear girl's knees have luxating patella’s (both of them!) AND on top of that, Delilah has hip dysplasia at her young age. It’s a wonder this dear girl can even walk! But, Deliah is an exuberant young lady who is over-the-top sweet and happy and who greets every living thing as a new friend for life. If you've read this far, you're most likely aware that this lovely girl needs a huge surgery (or series of surgeries) to correct a problem that could cripple her for life. If we can raise funds NOW and have her surgery performed immediately, Delilah will have a future free of pain and disability. So, as you watch your own beloved dogs run, jump and play, I implore you to think of Dililah and consider her predicament. This gorgeous girl - and her devoted Rescuers have applied to Special Needs Dobermans because they know we're an organization dedicated to helping Dobermans in rescues like theirs to live their best lives. Please, as you watch your own dogs run, play and roughhouse, remember beautiful Dililah and know your donation will pave the way to a happy, beautiful life for this dear young Dobergirl. Be a part of Delilah's future! Just click on your preference of either PayPal or USPS and instructions will be there for follow through. Want to see Delilah's cry for your help? Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Thank you for your steadfast dedication to our beloved breed AND for helping so many Dobermans live the best life possible. | Rufus!!
|
August, 2025: His name fits him perfectly! Looking at his pictures he looks like a bundle of silly, Doberman fun! But lately things have not been fun for him or Dobies and Little Paws Rescue (DALPR) out of Fillmore, California. This beautiful, rambunctious looking 3-4 year old black and tan boy was doing great until one day the area around his throat started swelling up. The appearance changed daily so it was hard to figure out what was happening to him. First thing was to treat him for an allergic reaction or maybe a insect sting or bite. That didn’t help so antibiotics were tried next in case it was an infection of some kind. Then, Rufus started dropping weight over the next couple of days and made gurgling noises when breathing. Rufus then found himself in the hospital getting high doses of antibiotics and steroids while waiting for the results of test for the “mass” in his throat. Luckily there was no cancer but x-rays remained inconclusive. All DALPR knew was there was some kind of big mass of infection or something in his throat. Leaving only the option of exploratory surgery. Fully 300cc of infectious material was drained from his throat and now he began showing improvement! The cause of this mysterious “mass” is still unknown but could be related to his salivary glands as indicated by his surgeon. Once he’s completely recovered, the hunt for any further intervention will continue but DALPR and Rufus are hoping that it’s all behind them. Could it have been a foxtail or other foreign body stuck in his throat? We’ll never know. It’s horrible when there are no clear-cut answers and you just must keep your fingers and paws crossed that it’s over. Rufus’ treatment and surgery was extremely expensive for this wonderful Rescue who time and time again steps up to help Dobies who need help. Won’t you please help to keep silly boys like Rufus bouncing around because of the care given to them by DALPR? Yes, times are hard but it’s even harder for the Rescue as Vet treatments keep getting more expensive. Any amount you can donate would be so gratefully appreciated! Join us please, won't you? August, 2025: Our mission at Special Needs Dobermans is to fundraise and advocate for all Dobermans needing veterinary help when they find themselves in a rescue. One of these rescues, Doberman Pincher Rescue in Fillmore, California, (also known as Dobies and Little Paws Rescue) is one of the most standout and busy rescues in the country – especially for our beloved Dobermans! This extraordinary collection of volunteers has saved, fostered and adopted out thousands of Dobermans. Each and every one of their Dobes have been taken under their wings with love, veterinary help and an amazing future, no matter the dog's age or circumstances. Beautiful little Lola, at 3 months old, found herself in a loud, noisy shelter with a broken rear leg which often leads to the Blue Cocktail Bar. Thankfully, she was evaluated by the shelter's veterinarian who discovered this baby had a fracture of the femur. Luckily, Lola's leg was already healing well (Oh THANK YOU Sweet Bird of Youth) and it was decided that surgical repair would not be necessary at the time (with close monitoring to ensure continuing correct alignment, of course). Her leg was carefully splinted, and Lola boarded her flight to DPR from northern CA. This lovely baby will require very close monitoring and regular x-rays to make certain her leg heals normally so she grows up to be the magnificent, beautiful Dobergirl she's destined to become. Please, send a donation for this beautiful baby. She so deserves to enjoy her puppyhood running around and making mischief - but she's sidelined until she can get the treatment she needs... just think about this beautiful baby running on the beach or happily digging a hole in the grass; need I say more? Thank you for your enduring support of SND and helping this very special girl. Because of you, her puppy dreams will come true. Becoming a part of her dream is easy if you wish and are able! Just click on your preference of either PayPal or USPS and instructions will be there for follow through. Miss Lola and DPR and all of us at SND THANK YOU! | Sammy!!
|
July, 2025: Sammy is an incredibly beautiful 3–4-year-old Dobe whose life was dismal at best. He was kept in a small, fenced area with a makeshift house made of wood pallets, metal, and chain link. His only value ever was to make puppies and more puppies as livestock for sale. This is another story of owners who should never have dogs. Rescuers from Georgia Doberman Rescue (GDR) in Douglasville, Georgia, visited after the wife reached out, saying she could not afford to keep feeding the last three puppies from his last breeding. Seeing the puppies was heartbreaking but GDR was most afraid for Sammy. Mrs. BYB agreed to give up the puppies but not Sammy (future cash value). So, GDR focused on getting the pups out of there. By the time they could get back to the BYB’s, one of the pups had been given away so they took two baby girls away. Both had horrible worms and stomach issues but after treatment they bounced back right away! GDR kept the owners updated hoping they would release Sammy. A month later, the wife called to say that Sammy had been losing weight and had bad diarrhea. They didn’t know what to do and were afraid he would die. Of course they didn’t take him to a vet which cuts into the profit margin you know. GDR said they would have to surrender Sammy to GDR so he could get treated for his condition. The husband refused. So GDR took him to get treatment out of Danielle’s personal funds and then they could take a treatment plan back to the owners to see if they wanted to pay it or surrender him. The vet said Sammy had the worse case of worms he’d ever seen. They said the fecal stick was so covered in worms that the stick could not be seen through them. Even worse, Sammy also had deadly heartworms. When faced with a $2700 bill, they finally surrendered him. Sammy was treated for the worms and is working on gaining weight before any heartworm treatment could begin. He finally was able to start the ghastly arsenic-based heartworm treatments. Out of one type of hell, into another. BUT, at least now he is being cared for and loved. GDR says he is the “sweetest, most wonderful boy”. I know they’ll find him a great home! But for them to keep doing these fantastic life-saving rescues, they need our help! Please make a donation to help them stay in the black and keep fighting the fight for Dobie lives in Georgia! Just click on your preference of either PayPal or USPS and instructions will be there for follow through. Sammy, GDR , and all of us at SND thank you so very much for your continued support!! Just look at this diamond in the rough - his beauty still shines through! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU once again for your support for Mr. Sammy!! | Violet!
|
July, 2025: This is a tragic and very sad story, but it also highlights the heroism of Doberman Underground in Ohio. DU was made aware of young, beautiful Violet in a shelter in Georgia, ill, and showing symptoms of Wobbler's Syndrome. The shelter slated Violet for euthanasia, but our hero's took this dear baby girl under their angel wings. Within no more than a couple days, dear Violet also showed symptoms of Parvo... she became very sick, very fast. Doberman Underground did EVERYTHING they could to try to save Violet. She had responded to the treatment for Parvo but her neurological symptoms returned with a vengeance. Very sadly, Violet succumbed to her illnesses, leaving everyone at Doberman Underground (and their supporters) devastated. There is no reason in the universe not to vaccinate a dog to protect them from this horrible illness but as a stray, her origin was unknown. Violet died because the shelter did not test of give her a $15.00 vaccination? Perhaps the neurological symptoms were part of the early manifestations of Parvo she exhibited? Perhaps she had Parvo when she was taken in at the shelter? We will never know these answers. The only thing we will ever know for certain is the only chance she ever had was the one DU valiantly tried to give her. If the presumed Wobbler’s had been her ONLY problem, if indeed accurate, there are treatments for Wobbler's depending on severity - steroids, physical therapy, adjunct medications... but Parvo is a monster that kills often and indiscriminately if vaccinations don’t happen. Violet did not die because DU didn’t try to save her due to the lack of funds – they incurred huge bills against their budget for rescue and treatment – they provided the ONLY chance she had. I ask all of our friends, readers, members of SND to make a donation to SND in memory of dear Violet. It is not often we lose a young one under such devastating circumstances. Please don't forget dear young Violet. Make a donation and tell all your friends about her. You can choose your method of donation, USPS or PayPal, by just clicking on the links! Doberman Underground and ALL of us at SND are very grateful for your support. Rest in peace Little Princess, nothing on this earth can ever harm you again. Thank you for reading Violet's Tale. Take a look at her beautiful face and imagine for her what could have been. Sadly and with many tears, Leslie Michell, Violet's Case Manager |

| Seemore!!
|
June, 2025: Lets begin by reviewing entropion - this is when the eyelid edge turns inward so the lashes on the eyelid surface rub against the eyeball! This condition causes constant irritation and pain. Sometimes the cornea is even scratched. Just imagine how your eyelashes brushing against your eyeball 24/7 would feel!! Not good!! Now, entropion isn't something that is hidden. You can see the rolled in eyelid edge plus the additional signs of excessive tearing, squinting, redness, discharge and pawing at the face. So signs and symptoms of a problem were there but just ignored by his previous owners! In severe cases entropion can lead to corneal ulcers, scarring and vision loss and even blindness! Now we'll introduce Seemore (an appropriate name for a kid with entropion who wishes he could... see more, that is). See More is a pup of only one year and five months old. Found as a stray roaming around in Houston, Texas, Seemore unfortunately found himself a prisoner in the super high kill shelter of BARC in Houston. He was quickly put on the euthansia list because of his entropion diagnosis. Luck was on his side when Rescued Pets Movement became aware of this pup and contacted the rescue squad at Saving Dobermankind Animal Rescue located in Fountain, Colorado asking if SDAR could help Seemore. SDAR agreed and after Seemore was delivered to them he was examined by SDAR's vet and it was found that Seemore actually had bilateral entropion!! I'm sure following surgery this super sweet pup feels 200% better!! Of course, surgery (actually two in this case) costs, which leads SDAR to our group to assist with fundraising for Seemore's surgery and aftercare. Any amount at all that you could donate would be fabulous! Just click on your preferance of either PayPal or USPS and instructions will be there for follow through. Seemore, SDAR and our SND volunteers thank you so very much for your continued support!! This boy can now SEE MORE of his world and looks forward to a happy life with a family who will treasure him! Look at our Seemore now on his way to a bright future - Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! THANK YOU for your support of Mr. Seemore!! Beth McCahren, SND Case Manager. |

May, 2025: If we had a flower for every innocent animal that has needed our help, our lives would be full of beautiful sights and smells. Sweet Violet IS a beautiful flower coming into our lives but she is fighting for hers right now. She is a gorgeous 8-9 year old Senior Lady, grossly overweight at 102 pounds – she should likely weigh about 65-70 pounds! She was thankfully shared on a shelter’s social media and spotted by Bella and Sunshine Rescue, (BSR) in Ontario, California who came to her aid. When they saw the post and saw that she had had an ulcerated mass on her left torso which was removed by the shelter - she looked so doped up, tired-looking and sad. The shelter didn’t send the mass to pathology so it is not known what it was. When BSR came to pick Violet up she had severe pneumonia and even though the shelter had her on antibiotics she wasn’t getting better and not eating. Luckily, one of BSR’s sweet fosters, Dedri, stepped up to help even though she had just lost a foster the week before. BSR took her to the Vet and they switched her antibiotics but her lung x-rays didn’t look good. The pneumonia was obvious but there was something else going on. The Vet couldn’t tell if it was the aftermath of that mass on her torso or if she actually has a cancer (possibly metastatic) as well. Three weeks later her pneumonia has improved but she was put on another 14-day treatment to make sure. Now everyone is holding their breath that her lungs will look better and they are not dealing with a hospice situation. After her first round of antibiotics with BSR, she finally started eating and started to show her personality. She is adorable, wiggly and a booper! Now it’s a waiting game to see if this flower continues to grow and be healthy or just brings beauty into our world for as long as she can. She is a fighter with a terrific attitude and a lot of love to share. Please help BSR with a donation to help with the care of this very special girl! BSR has always been there to help Dobermans, at great expense. But they can only continue this great work if we all pitch in to help! Please contribute anything you can by just clicking on the link you prefer to use, either PayPal or USPS, and directions will follow. Want another look at a very beautiful flower?? | Skyler!!

May, 2025: Meet Skyler AKA Baby Blue to his Rescue Angels from Great Babies Rescue in Midland, MI. This sad tale begins about a year ago. A sweet baby blue Doberman was born into the home of a BYB. Neither his mother nor her litter had ever been seen by a veterinarian. When baby Skyler was around a week old (as reported by surrendering party, AKA backyard breeder), his mum bit him on the left side of his head, puncturing his eye. Again, no medical intervention was sought for this dear baby. His eye has been draining fluid for an entire year, and, he has developed some neurological deficits including deafness and a crippled gait. Poor, dear baby! Thankfully, Skyler was surrendered to a wonderful rescue in Michigan known as Great Babies Rescue and their compassionate staff are new to Special Needs Dobermans. We welcome them and thank them for doing everything they did and will do to help Skyler. It is only because of Great Babies Rescue that Skyler has received the help he needed to survive. Great Babies brought Skyler to veterinarians for surgical removal of his left eye as well as neurological evaluations and physical therapy assessment. While it was concluded physical therapy would be of little or no benefit to Skyler, he has made some progress with maturity. He can now negotiate stairs (with supervision) and he can walk, play and carouse with both human and canine playmates. In fact, Skyler is ready for adoption to a very special home - one this very special boy needs and deserves. This has been a hard-won battle for his life by Great Babies Rescue. They are a small all volunteer organization relying solely on donations to tend to the animals in their care. I am grateful they have found SND and applaud their hard work to help Skyler (and all the Dobermans in their charge). Let's be generous and welcome Great Babies Rescue to SND with donations to benefit Skyler. Just click on the link you prefer to use, either PayPal or USPS, and directions will follow. | Amber!!
|
April, 2025: Amber is approximately three years old and has already been used up as a breeding dog! When the 'greeders' were done with her, they unscrupulously dumped her at Redlands Rockpits in Miami, Florida. Redlands has long been well known as a dumping ground for canines. Luckily, there are empathetic people who routinely try to feed these dogs. One of these good folks saw Amber and noticed she was very thin as well as dehydrated. Thankfully, Doberman Rescue League of Oakland Park was made aware of Amber. Now, under the expert care of DRL, Amber was taken to their vet and examined and vaccinated. Within a week she began to show signs of being pregnant and back to the vet she went. Xrays confirmed she was pregnant with four pups and would likely deliver in close to 10 days. Unfortunately, Amber went into labor that very evening!! She delivered three pups on her own, but had to be rushed back to the vet for an *emergency* c-section to deliver the fourth puppy. Amber was also spayed at that time. Sadly, two of the four babies passed away. Amber and the remaining two (one born a tri-pod) are doing well. DRL have several Dobes in boarding that have medical complications, therefore, they have come to our SND family for whatever support we can provide them. Emergency visits are always costly, even more so if surgery is involved. This emergency surgical case came to a whopping $2700 and that's relatively cheap because of a sympathetic vet. This, along with the many medically compromised Dobes in their care that are in boarding, has really set their budget back significantly. Can we please put our $$ together, however much you are able, to support DRL? Please remember, NO amount is ever too small!! Rescues survive via donations so lets help DRL in anyway possible. It's so easy to do - just click on the link you prefer to use, either PayPal or USPS, and directions will follow. Amber, her DRL saviors, and we at SND are profoundly grateful for any amount you can donate to be a part of keeping this great rescue ready and able to help the next Doberman who needs them. Here's a pic of a Lady who's looking at a brighter future! Just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! Miss Amber, her puppy and all of us at SND THANK YOU!! | Tripp!!
|
April, 2025: Have a look at this beautiful boy's face. He's now known as Tripp, because recently he found himself in the path of a car that smashed his femur into an unrecognizable mess. Tripp was taken in by kind shelter workers in Ohio, who then contacted the wonderful staff at Doberman Underground - who often work with shelters in the area saving Dobermans. This lovely youngster is only estimated to be no more that around 19 months old and it became obvious to everyone involved in his rescue that someone at one time cared for him and loved him. All parties involved made considerable effort to find Tripp's people, but sadly, not having a microchip put an end to the search. It was necessary to amputate Tripp's leg and when he had his surgery, it was discovered that Tripp also has a bleeding problem that required a transfusion to replace some loss and to then coagulate his blood. While we don't know exactly if this will prove to be vWd, further testing will investigate this possibility. In the meantime, Tripp is now happily recovering with his rescuers at DU and doing remarkably well under the circumstances. Tripp has proved to be a stellar Dude. He's active, affectionate and has impeccable manners - and he's a showstopper in the looks department! We all know Doberman Underground as the organization in the east and midwest that moves mountains to help save Dobes and keep them out of shelters, and many times; especially in the case of DU, they have taken on many serious medical cases that most rescues bypass because of their own financial situations. Tripp's surgery alone, not counting dressing changes, follow up visits, radiology exams has so far cost thousands. Tripp has already had further bleeding events that placed him in the ER! Of course, we hope this too will resolve with proper care. Special Needs Dobermans applauds our friends at Doberman Underground and is proudly joining their fundraising efforts to raise the $$ to assist with Tripp's bills for the amputation and post-op bleeding issues he is having. Please join us and network this wonderful youngster to all your canine loving friends, so we can help Doberman Underground continue to help raise the necessary funds to help our beloved Dobermans and keep their RescueAngels solvent to help the next Doberman in line who needs saving! Tripp, all the folks at Doberman Underground, Special Needs Dobermans and I thank you! | Jackie!!
|
April, 2025: This is a horrible situation that I hesitate to even think about. This is Jackie's tale - on MARCH 29TH (this date is important) two year old Jackie (who was still nursing a puppy) was with her owner as he changed a flat tire along the freeway. Jackie escaped from the automobile and was hit by a car, resulting in MULTIPLE SERIOUS SKELETAL FRACTURES. A good samaritan assisted the owner in getting Jackie to an emergency veterinarian. Jackie's diagnoses were: polytrauma, right ileal wing *fracture*, complete displaced right femoral *fracture*, right acetabular *fracture*, comminuted moderately displaced right radial/ulnar *fracture*. Jackie was in horrible pain and was ultimately medicated for comfort. The vet recommended euthanasia as the owner did not have funds for immediate surgery and Jackie was suffering. However, even after the vet explained the pain and the many adverse effects of these traumas (infection, growth of scar tissue to name just a few), the owner took Jackie home AGAINST MEDICAL ADVICE. Now, skip to APRIL 18TH, TWENTY DAYS later, Jackie's owner is arrested (not pet related) and that is when the local animal shelter confiscated Jackie and two other dogs. The shelter contacted The Doberman Rescue Pack located in Millcreed, Washington asking if they could take in the three dogs, Jackie in particular, because she was severely injured and was LEFT UNTREATED FOR THREE WEEKS! TDRP didn't waste time juggling their already overtaxed rescue, finding medical foster and then taking all three of the dogs in and hoped to at least give Jackie a chance at life. Both of her legs will be repaired if possible, with the hind leg having a high chance of amputation. There will be many medications, office visits, dressings and rehab sessions ahead which will likely reach $10,000!! The awesome and dedicated TDRP rescuers report Jackie is very sweet and has a 'lot of try in her.' They know a long road lies ahead, nevertheless, they are willing to do what it takes for Jackie to have the treatment she needs. I don't believe there are any rescues who could take on a $10,000 commitment without needing help in raising funds, and this is why the TDRP warriors have come to our SND family for assistance. I know we all want the best for Jackie and would like to see the burden of fund raising made lighter for her rescue warriors! All you need to do to help is click on either the PayPal tab or the USPS tab, which ever you prefer, to provide your gift. And, please remember, NO amount is ever too small!! You can make a one-time donation or several small donations if that works better for you, because these rescue warriors will be raising funds for quite a while! I'll thank you all in advance for anything you can do to assist Jackie and TDRP. They greatly appreciate ANY help provided, as do we at SND. Look at a Princess, serene in her pain and trying mightily to survive and care for her pup who is just out of sight in this picture. Please, just click right here https://www.doberman911.org! | Ada!!

April, 2025: Now here’s something you don’t see every day! A gorgeous but a little on the lighter side but still luscious beautiful red headed 7-8 year old lady. She is a real stunner no matter how you look at it! Too bad whoever had her didn’t take such good care of her. Lucky for her, Doberman Pinscher Rescue (DPR) of Filmore, California came to her rescue. Ada was in pretty poor condition and did not fare very well in the shelter - most don’t in that environment – but it is still better than being on the street uncertain of food or attention of the good kind. Thankfully, a foster came through to get her out of that stressful situation. Ada was in such bad health that it took months to get her strong enough to do her spay. Meanwhile two mammary tumors became worrisome so they made the decision to get her spay done along with the removal and biopsy of the suspicious-looking growths. Ada did very well and is now getting rave reviews on how well behaved she is! Now we’re keeping everything crossed that she has a good, i.e., negative for any cancer pathology report. Ada is happily thriving while in foster at the Dobie Ranch in Fillmore with a group of other Dobes and she has mastered the doggie door out to 6 acres of land to run and play in. Now, hopefully, she can find a family to love and adore her. It will definitely be reciprocated! You all know the name Doberman Pinscher Rescue a.k.a “Dobies and Little Paws” – emphasis on DOBIES!! - they have helped so many Dobermans be rescued and no matter what the cost, have been there for these wonderful Dobes to help them and get them to a loving home. They cannot keep doing all this on their own! They need our support, so please consider sending them anything you can so they can continue their live-saving work for our precious breed! April,
2025: REDUX
Charlie... Charlie, is a gorgeous hunk of a dog, is under the care of
a foster for Bella and Sunshine Rescue, Inc. (BSR) in California.
Charlie's been with us before when he first joined BS&R for some
bothersome growths he had. This beautiful 14ish-year-old gent
thought he was a bloodhound and used his sniffer a little too aggressively,
which led to an unexpected situation. His FosterMom noticed that
one side of Charlie’s nose looked lopsided and immediately checked
his teeth, gums, inside the cheek, and roof of the mouth but found nothing
obvious. Good on you FosterMom!! Concerned for Charlie's well-being,
she took him to the vet for a closer look. While in the waiting
room, the she noticed the spines of a foxtail sticking out of Charlie’s
nose. She pulled it out but suspected there were more still inside,
prompting the vet to do more than a cursory examination. Indeed,
the vet confirmed that there were at least one more foxtails lodged
inside and it was necessary to sedate Charlie to remove them. There
was even a concern that a foxtail might have made its way into his sinus
cavity, which could cause significant harm if left unattended.
Charlie had no issues with the anesthesia and is now happily sniffing
through that nostril once again. Short of setting the world on fire
(CA already did that earlier this year so burning them out is NOT an
option) this noxious weed remains a threat locally. Round-up is
also not an option as we all know. Although this case was not
as serious as most of the cases handled by SND and BSR, it still incurred
costs over $1,000 and follow-ups may be needed. This of course
impacts the limited budget of this band of Rescue Angels, especially
in Southern CA! Bella and Sunshine is renowned for their front-line
efforts in helping Dobermans and they require financial support to continue
their great work. Please consider sending a donation to support
this amazing rescue and to help Mr. Charlie and the next Dobes in line
as we know they are always coming. Won't you join us!

| Winnie!!
|
April, 2025: Winnie! Lovely Winifred is now 2 years old, and thankfully is fortunate in that she's always known devotion. In her short life, she was owned by a lady in Arkansas who had to leave the state due to a family emergency. She was left in the care of the lady's son who is on active duty military service. Unfortunately, what was hoped to be a temporary arrangement has fallen apart for two reasons. Winnie's owner learned she needed to stay in Arkansas AND her son was going to be deployed. While Winnie's people may be guilty of some poor planning, the son tried to make sure Winnie would not fall through the cracks. He first asked relatives and friends to look after Winnie, and when he learned none would be able to take her, he contacted Doberman Rescue of Nevada. You know, that amazing rescue that is the oasis of love and care for Dobermans. Winnie was welcomed to her new rescue with open arms and love. She was taken to her intake exam for her in depth physical by their kind and able veterinarians, where it was discovered Winnie's liver values nearly knocked the vet off his feet. Her liver enzyme ALT is FIVE times that of a normal reading - meaning her liver was in the process of shutting down. Post haste, Winnie has been put of an intensive protocol of antibiotics and liver-supporting supplements - all the heavy artillery in a war to restore her liver function. It's too early to tell if this barrage of firepower will be effective for Winnie long term - certainly it's helping save her life for now. If she is stable enough for her spay, she will have a liver biopsy, results of which will await testing. As all of us know, liver disease is an insidious and deadly malady and is difficult to treat. Just Winnie's medications alone add up to hundreds of dollars - not to mention the liver flush, biopsy and monitoring. Copper storage disease is not uncommon in Dobermans and is suspected here and must be ruled out. While this disease is serious, it is manageable with diet and medication and Winnie can go on to a happy new life. We should all be grateful for the dedication of our wonderful friends at Doberman Rescue of Nevada. They always go to the ends of the universe to care for the Dobermans that have come their way, making sure they're given the best veterinary care, love and shelter. All this testing is very, very expensive, but DRNV is determined to give this lovely young girlie with the magic ears her best chance of a healthy and happy life. You can help. Doberman Rescue of Nevada has partnered with Special Needs Dobermans to help raise funds for sweet Winnifred's care. We all know how serious liver disease is, please send a donation to Special Needs Dobermans for Winnie's diagnostics and be a part of this beautiful girl's journey to health. | Kany!!
|
April, 2025: This gorgeous red fellow is two year old Kany. Kany came into the loving arms of Bella & Sunshine Rescue in Ontario, California by way of a 'Free to a good home' Craigslist ad!! The ad read: "AKC registered dog... he is not neutered so you can use him for breeding' !!!" That's the last thing any rescue or shelter wants to hear - not to mention the type of people an ad like that could possibly attract! When B&SR became aware of Kany they were immediately alarmed at the thoughts of where he could possiby end up and decided on the spot to save him from who knows what fate could possibly be awaiting! Kany is not only not neutered, he is also not AKC registered (not that it matters to his rescuers) and is not up to date on vaccines (doubtful he ever even saw a vet) but this just goes to validate what type of people owned him. Also, Kany arrived to B&SR with a quite large area of thickened skin on his abdomen that he would constantly lick and scratch, causing it to consistently be very irritated, especially around the perimeter (this did not happen over night!). The trusted vet who cares for B&SR's rescues suggested the area be removed at the same time as his neuter surgery. For Kany's relief, the nasty area was indeed removed and, of course, the procedure increased the vet fee. BS&R have had numerous emergencies in recent months, *numerous*, and have come to our SND family with hopes of assistance, as their finances have been stretched to the limit! Kany is said to be a very sweet boy, and BS&R are happy they were able to save him from an unknown fate as well as constant distress with regards to his inflamed and itchy belly (and of course his neuter). If you are able to donate towards Kany, ANY amount would be greatly appreciated! NO gift is ever too small - every dollar adds up! All you have to do is click on the link of your choice, either PayPal or USPS - easy peasy! Just look at this handsome Red Dude with a new lease on life!! April,
2025: Eli’s
coming, hide your heart!!!! This gorgeous boy came into the pack at
Bella and Sunshine Rescue (BSR) of Ontario, California a couple of years
ago. His age is guesstimated at 9 or 10. Eli came in with
pneumonia that was so severe, BSR thought he would probably die, but
this boy pulled through with antibiotics and love. The pneumonia
would clear up then start again. It has been a two-year battle
so far. He was removed from his old foster home that had multiple
other cats and dogs and the occurrences of the pneumonia became less
often. Until he is healthy, this sweetie cannot be adopted.
During a vet visit, a lump on his neck was imaged and thought to be
thyroid cancer. It’s a slow growing, non-aggressive type
and the vet said he is likely to die of old age before that cancer takes
him. But, that lump is interfering with his breathing so it has
to come out. Due to his fragile condition because of the bouts
with pneumonia, it was decided that if he could make it through the
neuter surgery then they would do the much more dangerous thyroid surgery.
He did make it though the neuter surgery and now BSR wants to
schedule his thyroid surgery. The cost is very expensive so BSR
had to wait until they had the funds. Then, as is often the case,
another dog would come in that was an emergency so Eli’s surgery
has been postponed a few times. He’s a very sweet, patient,
and loving gent. He deserves to have his last few years go by
without any trouble breathing. Will you please help him and this
wonderful Rescue that time and again is out there rescuing Dobermans?
If they had more support, Eli could have had his surgery already.
Any amount that you can spare will help them and Eli tremendously!

| Sienna!!
|
March,
2025:
At only two years old, sweet Sienna is still just a baby, but sometimes
even babies have a story to tell! Let's go back to when the rescue warriors
of Sweet Home Doberman Rescue, located in Daleville Alabama, were notified
of a stray Doberman that locals were looking after by providing food
and water. Eventually the kind local people earned her trust and
animal control was able pick her up and transfer her to SHDR.
Poor girl was hungry, thirsty and covered in ticks. That being
addressed, Sienna needed to be seen by SHDR's vet for a full exam and
vaccinations. Sounds good, right? Wrong!! Sienna contracted
a *very* nasty bout of giardia that caused significant weight loss.
When she was finally well from the giardia, gaining weight and
almost ready for adoption, she AGAIN became ill due to a bad bag of
dog food that had been on her menu some time ago! And that brings
us up to date... Her story goes on - Sienna was staying at her
co-foster's home when she suddenly had an alarming amount of bloody
diarrhea and vomiting. Her foster rushed her to the emergency vet and
literally arrived 'just in time'! An initial assessment revealed
a large obstruction in the small bowel. Sienna was dehydrated due to
the excessive amount of diarrhea and vomiting she had had and was ALREADY
SEPTIC! Sienna had only ONE hour to respond to fluids and medications
in order to determine if she was stable enough to survive surgery, otherwise,
the only other choice would be euthanasia. Thankfully, she responded
very well to the pre-op treatment and regained enough strength to have
the obstruction removed, and it was HUGE! No one could even ascertain
what it was having been in there who knows how long!! Now for
good news; Sienna has made a full recovery, is as sweet as she can be
and is slowly learning how to be a 'dog'!! As you can imagine,
the costs pertaining to the unexpected illnesses, the meds and vet fees
as well as the life or death surgery, has certainly put a *huge* strain
on SHDR's finances. Nearly $7,000 all told is enough to break most rescues!
These wonder folks at Sweet Home have done an amazing job fundraising
but can't reach the full goal alone!! The remaining unpaid balance
of her medical care is currently around $5K still, and the rescue desperately
needs our assistance with this large, outstanding balance. Please
donate toward Sienna's cause. NO amount is ever too small, it
all adds up, and every single penny is greatly appreciated!! All
you need to do to help is click on the link of your preferred method
of giving, either PayPal or good old USPS
- every cent will go to Sienna's vet care. In closing, Sienna,
the rescue warriors of SHDR and we at SND are in advance sending many
many thank yous for anything at all you are able to give. Want

March,
2025:
This adorable and beyond beautiful 5-year-old fawn girl has been saved
from what was probably a horrible situation. She was dumped at a Kentucky
shelter from the back of a pickup in freezing cold weather. She was
unceremoniously dumped likely after it was believed she was no longer
a cash cow delivering puppies. At the shelter, she was diagnosed with
heartworm disease. A few weeks later, this same “person”
came to the shelter to try to get his money machine back so she could
make more puppies or to sell her outright. The shelter said ‘NOPE!”
and also told him she was heartworm positive - that did it!! He
left, not interested in taking on the expense of the treatment. The
Bluegrass Doberman Rescue (BDR) Angels immediately came to her rescue!
Now the expense of treating her comes to them as well, but, that’s
what they do! They help these Dobes that, without this treatment,
would die a horrible, lingering death. Heartworms are all too
common in the South and SND does get a lot of these cases because the
treatment is very expensive. It takes a lot of aftercare to make sure
she is completely clean, so it really drains the Rescues coffers.
Many Dobes and other dogs languish or are destroyed in shelters because
not many groups can afford the treatment and aftercare. That care usually
takes over 6 weeks to many months, depending on the severity of the
infestation, and that is costly not only in $$ but accommodation too.
Tests have to be done on a regular basis to see if the worms are still
present and additional treatments may need to be given. PLUS,
the treatment is very hard on the dog – it’s ARSENIC after
all! It takes a strong poison to kill these insidious parasites!
Please send any amount you can to help BDR pay for saving Taffy’s
life and the many others that are bound to come. She needs your help!
Look at her beautiful adoring face. Right now she is busy eating like
a horse: treats, food, and counter surfing. But she has learned that
counters are not a good behavior. She will make someone a perfect friend.
She loves all dogs but we’re not sure about kitties as she’s
yet to be exposed to them. She just loves going on walks too and is
so well behaved. She is quick at learning her boundaries. Thanks to
BDR for saving this special girl and giving some family the opportunity
to have her as a very special member of their pack! Please help us help
them to keep doing this great work!!! Join us now - just click

| Teal!!
|
February,
2025:
If ever there were a prime example of a beautiful senior in dire
need, it's Teal. This gorgeous girl's story reads like a medieval tragedy,
and at the age of 13, she has demonstrated more resilience than any
dog or person can possibly fathom. Teal was discovered starving under
an abandoned trailer; a victim of a backyard breeder after delivering
a litter of puppies. She was Heartworm positive, had an amputation of
one of her rear legs and was on the brink of death... and if that weren't
enough, a neighbor shot Teal when she attempted to catch a chicken.
Any one of these things would certainly kill a younger dog, but
Teal has emerged strong, determined and courageous. She is everything
her Doberman lineage represents, all the while remaining unbelievably
sweet, smart and joyful. Teal is being cared for by the Rescue
Angels from High Desert Doberman Rescue in New Mexico. Recently it was
noticed that Teal had developed a limp. Immediately, Teal was taken
to her veterinarian, where an amputation of her toe became necessary
and was performed. While we don't know the pathology of the toe
as yet, it was suspicious enough that amputation of the toe was necessary
to maintain her health. She's now going strong after her surgery
and continues to charm every creature she meets. Even among Dobermans,
she is a beacon of shining light. This girl is a rare treasure, and
understandably, her Angels at HDDR love this beauty beyond all measurable
limits. I personally want to thank the wonderful people of HDDR
for helping this beautiful girl live her best life. They have pulled
all the stops to make sure dear Teal will never, ever have to witness
or endure the cruelty and neglect she had to endure in the past.
Please, send a donation to Special Needs Dobermans to help HDDR continue
to help Dobermans like Teal. I know dear Teal appreciates your efforts
as do all of us at Special Needs Dobermans. Help Teal live the life
she always should have had! Please, join us - Just click on the

February, 2025: One
year later and Miss Rita is now 13 years young! At her age, slowing
down is expected but turning down food and and looking like she's feeling
punky - not so much. Off to the vet for obstruction look/see.
Upon x-ray, some hints as to possible obstruction were seen and
palpation made the suspicion turn into likelihood. Meds and dismissal
brought 24" piece of a dishtowel out - helped by watchful Papa!!
She claims she was only trying to help drying dishes - yeah, right!
Won't you please help this beleagered rescue take care of Miss Rita's
expenses, please... Her original links are still active, so we hope
you'll just click away! Thank you VERY much for your support!

| Layla!!
|
February, 2025: Layla is four years old and has never, ever, recieved any attention, any love and certainly never a vet visit! She came from a puppy mill that was closed down due to the absolutely horrible conditions the dogs were living in!! We all know there are many, many disgusting puppy mills that are permitted to be active, so you can only imagine how vile this mill was to actually be put out of business! The rescue warriors of Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Pennsylvania graciously stepped up to take Layla into their care. The very first day Layla was in her foster home, her astute foster mother noticed that Layla was having difficulty eating! Upon closer inspection, pus was seen in and around her mouth! Her teeth were a rotten mess! Poor girl had to be suffering with facial and jaw pain for a very long period of time! Unfortunately, her teeth aren't her only problem; along with expected extractions, she also has a leg mass that needs removed and biopsied. Layla was very timid and afraid of everything when she first came out of that hideous puppy mill. Since then, she has flourished with her foster mom, and with all that she's been through, she's still a sweet and loving girl! The next step is to get this young lady healthy to prepare her for her forever home. DPRPA has a hefty vet bill ahead of them as they provide Layla the necessary medical care she must have. Due to the high cost of treatment, DPRPA has requested assistance from our SND family! Please remember, NO donation is ever too small as every gift adds up! Just click on the link that you prefer to use for your donation - either PayPal or USPS. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and thank you's are extended from the dedicated warriors of DPRPA and we at SND! | Valkyrie!!
|
February, 2025: A perfect name for a severely abused, guesstimated to be, 2-year-old fawn girl who is now in a fight for her very life. Hopefully all the Norse Warriors of old will be standing with her so she can win the battle and recover! The Valkyries accompanied those warriors in battle. This Valkyrie will begin her own battle now. Valkyrie, aptly named, is still somehow a sweet and trusting girl who was found wandering the streets with a paper bag over her head! WHAT?? She weighs 35 pounds when she should be at least 30 pound heavier. She has two broken toes on her left foot. Those two toes had the hair and flesh stripped off them and are infected. X-rays show those toes are cleanly broken at the pad level. I cannot fathom what could have caused that other than her foot got stuck in something as she was trying to escape? Or even worse... We’ll never know. The shelter where she ended up wanted to give her a blue cocktail because she was in such critical condition – barely hanging onto life but clearly trying. Thankfully, the amazing folks (clearly warriors themselves) at Doberman Underground (DU) of Aurora, Ohio stepped in to try to save her. She is anemic and may need a blood transfusion. The plan is to stabilize her and get some weight on her, remove the toes and let them heal, then they have to tackle the fact that she is also heartworm positive. Surprised? NO!! Of course, this plan is assuming that her health will stabilize and that she can handle the surgery and recovery. The heartworm is another bunch of hell she has to go through before she can find her perfect home. Right now she is going through more sadness as she can only be given very small amounts of food at a time until she begins to gain a some weight. Too much food at a time in her starved state will kill her. That must be torture for her but likely nothing compared to what she has already been through. At least now she has people who love and care for her. She is going to need months of intensive care which costs lots of money as you can guess. Please be a warrior alongside our Valkyrie and help support DU by helping them with a donation of any amount. You would also be the antidote for this kind of cruelty. Helping her blossom will be a rejection of the creature(s) who did this to her by saving her and thwarting their plan to slowly kill her. DU is a Rescue who has done amazing work to save Dobermans for years and years. They can only continue if we support their efforts. Please… any amount will help! | Ruby!!
|
February, 2025: The Rescue Angels of Bluegrass Doberman Rescue, located in Louisville Kentucky, have been quite busy lately! They were notified by a local shelter that three related Dobermans (father, mother, daughter) were dumped off by yet another self-serving, despicable, back yard 'greeder'! Due to their high shyness, it's doubtful any of them have ever had much, if any, human interaction or any vet care whatsoever. Routine intake veterinarian examinations revealed the mother is heartworm positive and the father has Lyme disease. Ruby, their 3 year old daughter, surprisingly checked out ok, or so it was thought. On spay day, Ruby was found to be pregnant with one, yes only one, puppy. When he was delivered, the little preemie guy had a faint heartbeat and it was decided his life was worth trying to save. Ruby was not producing milk, her pup was touch and go, and the spay surgery was hard on Ruby, so the two of them stayed over night at the vet's office for continued close monitoring. Ruby, thankfully, is doing well, however, her baby boy named Jim passed away overnight. BDR is taking good care of Ruby's parents, and their vet bills are getting steep. Now, we add Ruby's difficult and medically complicated spay and subsequent hospitalization, plus the care of her puppy. It's clear to see that BDR has been bombarded with vet invoices that need to be paid in order to save and medically treat the influx of future Dobes that will invariably need extra care. BDR has come to us at SND with hopes of assistance with the Doberman family's mounting bills. Please remember, every penny adds up and NO amount is ever too small! All you need to do to help this great resuce is click on either the PayPal link or the USPS link and follow the instructions. Miss Ruby, BDR and we at SND are always eternally grateful for your ongoing support. | Jazzy!!
|
February, 2025: Jazzy
is lovely - beautiful, infinitely sweet and a diplomat among Dobermans.
Most people would appreciate her stellar looks and her peaceful
and intelligent demeanor, but sadly, this wasn't the case when Jazzy's
so called owners dumped Jazzy along with her male friend and their daughter
to a local shelter telling the shelter staff that they could no longer
care for them – as if they ever did! Jazzy is 9 years old
and it's doubtful that she ever had a heat cycle where she didn't become
pregnant. Finally, the days, months and years of producing puppies
have come to a close where she's not treated as an inanimate machine
delivering "Doberman Puppies For Sale" as if they're some
kind of consumer commodity. This is reprehensible enough, but
it's been discovered by our friends at Bluegrass Doberman Rescue that
this beautiful girl is heartworm positive. It's also highly doubtful
Jazzy had any manner of veterinary care. Anyone who would neglect putting
their dog(s) on HW prevention - especially a breeding female - is an
animal abuser. Clearly, this demonstrates a cavalier attitude, not to
mention neglecting one of the most fundamental obligations to canine
health. The good news is that beautiful Jazzy is now the Princess
of Bluegrass Doberman Rescue in Kentucky! Special Needs Dobermans
is assisting BDR with the expenses of getting this stunning girl the
heartworm treatments she needs before she finally gets spayed and on
the road to meeting the people that will love and treasure her for the
rest of what has been a miserable life. Yes, heartworm is definitely
life-threatening and at 9 years old MORE so and, so is the treatment
and very painful too! Please, send in a donation to help support
Bluegrass Doberman's important mission in liberating Jazzy from the
slave-life she had with her former back yard breeders. Jazzy is
now happy and very feisty with her new circumstances and so deserves
our help in making her life what it should have been. While we
cannot make up for the years gone by when she should have been enjoying
life, all of us can help whatever lies ahead for Jazzy's happy and healthy
future! You can join in now by choosing your method of donation,

so very grateful! Just click right here to see a gorgeous Grand

| Maverick!
|
January, 2025: A very sad tale about serious owner neglect but this time sweet Maverick paid the ultimate price. Maverick, a 1 year old, was a gorgeous black Doberman baby whose owners never bothered to crate him while they were gone - or otherwise keep him safe in their absence. After who will ever know how long a time, he got really thin and lethargic they finally took him to the vet. What they then found out was that he had stomach and intestinal obstructions so they directed the vet to be destroy him rather than try to save him. He was relegated to the clinic but the sympathetic Vet contacted the Doberman Underground in Aurora, Ohio to see if they could assume ownership and give him the care he needed. Being the wonderful angels they are, they accepted. He immediately went into surgery. Among the things found in this stomach were a swim mask goggle and glasses and that was just the beginning of what they pulled out of his stomach and intestines. Because of how long some of these items had been inside his gut, his intestines did not pink up after surgery but they were hoping that would change. This strong pup did great for 4 days and then became septic and there was nothing more they could do for him but give him a humane release from any more pain and suffering. Imagine how devastated they were. Not only did the sweet pup not survive but they still have an over $4500 vet bill. Doberman Underground has done so much to help so many Dobermans and they can only continue with their great work if you help. They need our help to cover the expenses of trying to save this boy. And, I know they’d try again. That’s what they do. Please help support their efforts and in memory of this sweet baby, Maverick, who did everything he could to make it. If only he had the owners he deserved. So unbelievably sad. Thank you everyone! You can choose your method of donation, USPS or PayPal, by just clicking on the links! Doberman Underground and ALL of us at SND are very grateful for your support. Please click here for Maverick's memorial portrait https://www.doberman911.org. | Cindy
|
January, 2025: The gorgeous little girl before you is Cindy Lou, and her darling face just melts my heart! The Rescue Warriors of Dobies and Little Paws (Doberman Pinscher Rescue) located in Fillmore, California, were contacted by an animal shelter regarding a young (approximately 1-2 years old) stray Doberman. She was said to be 'a sweet girl with a broken leg!' Say what!! Yes, a *simple break* of her right front leg, and it was already splinted. Given the present awful fires situation in SoCal, Miss Cindy Lou was a prime candidate for the Blue Cocktail Bar. Of course, as per DPR's protocol, Cindy Lou was evaluated by their DPR'sl veterinarian, and lo and behold, it wasn't a 'simple break' after all! X-rays revealed the break was barely lined up and had no chance of proper healing without surgery. This diagnosis resulted in the bones being surgically aligned, then secured with a bone plate and splint. We all know that a young dog of her age is typically super active, however, she will need a long six weeks of rest for the bones to stabilize. Thanks to the quick action of the Rescue Warriors of DPR, Cindy Lou's injury will heal correctly. Her pain and period of inactivity will be in the past, and a loving, forever home will be in her future! At any given time, DPR has several Dobes with medical needs, big and HUGE. When needed, our SND family is asked for assistance! This wa close to a $5,000 fix. Please help Cindy Lou if you are able. NO gift is ever too small and every cent is deeply appreciated! You can choose your method of donation, USPS or PayPal, by just clicking on the links! Cindy Lou, DPR and we at SND are more than greatful for your continued generosity! | Magnum!!
|
January, 2025: Poor little Magnum, at 5 months old, was unceremoniously dumped at a veterinarian's office without any previous vaccination history to be disposed. He presented with all the classic symptoms of tetanus. We don't often hear of tetanus infection here in the US, thankfully. Occasionally, veterinarians see the infection in horses. The infection thrives in moist, open wounds and causes horrible and painful muscle stiffness, spasms and breathing trouble. Ordinarily, animals are given a vaccination with subsequent boosters to keep this nasty and life threatening disease away. It's part of a vaccination protocol that is given routinely to all animals and people to keep them safe. The sharp-eyed veterinarians immediately noted that this poor, dear puppy had his ears cropped and taped up with METAL wires as a brace. Obviously whoever butchered this baby's ears had no clue as to what they were doing. Poor Magnum has TETANUS!! The vet who saw Magnum immediately started treatment for this sweet baby, which is difficult. The reason treatment is complicated is that dogs have to be treated with the equine vaccine, as not only the dosage has to be adjusted, the vaccine also poses a danger to dogs as it can cause anaphylaxis, a dangerous allergic reaction. Nonetheless, puppy Magnum is now being treated carefully and with love - saved by our amazing friends at Doberman Underground who put their limited resources on the line. DU stops at nothing to save countless Dobermans, and when they were confronted with a very sick baby, they knew that they needed to act fast. Magnum is holding his own, but his future yet hangs in the balance - he's so young and the protocol for treatment is a venture into mostly unknown territory. No living thing should have to face this horrible disease. Without Doberman Underground's care and love, along with their veterinarians, Magnum would suffer terribly and almost certainly die. We all should applaud this wonderful rescue that has pulled out all the stops to help this sweet baby boy. DU has come to Special Needs Dobermans not only to raise funds from our caring supporters, but to bring awareness to the importance of vaccination against this nasty disease. Please, help us get Magnum well by sending in a donation. Just choose your method of donating - USPS or PayPal button on the right, either link has instructions for the next steps. Doberman Underground Angels need our help! Magnum, DU and SND are grateful for your continuing support!! | Schmitt!!
|
January, 2025: Meet Mr. Schmitt! This sweet 11-month old puppy was rescued by the wonderful people at Saving Dobermankind Animal Rescue (SDAR) in Fountain, Colorado. He had been on Craigslist’s as a "cute Doberman puppy" and was sold for $100 to one of SDAR’s fosters. After having fostered him for a while, it was noticed that he was definitely not “right.” SDAR thought they were getting a 14-week old puppy that they could easily find a home for. His early routine check-up turned into further investigation because of his misshapen skull. The resulting x-rays and exams showed the whys and wherefores. Clinical opinion was that Schmitt had suffered from blunt-force trauma to his head causing brain injury which also affected his pituitary gland. The prognosis is he will remain developmentally slow, both mentally and physically. That outward appearance and behaviors nevertheless makes him and adorable and incredibly goofy kid – forever young! HE doesn’t think that’s so bad after all. What’s not to love here? His Foster Mom would agree – she’s a very special lady who has utmost patience and love for him. He will require a special needs caretaker and that would be almost impossible to find, much less someone who would adopt him. It’s likely he will remain where he is loved for everything he is. He is a very special boy that needs someone equally special and he has that here. Schmitt is still a typical Doberman… loves people, playing with other dogs, and getting cuddles. So,right now, this lovebug needs some dental work which if not done could become infected and he could get septicemia. This tooth is black and dead. This poor boy has been through enough, now he has to go to the dentist?! Well, yes! Thankfully, due to the love and care from SDAR this pup will get the care he needs to survive and thrive, but, we all need to help them with any donation you can make to keep their coffers on the black side! Please send anything you can to help them cover the expenses that they have had so far and will continue to cover for this sweet soul, Schmitt. Anything will help! Just choose your method of donating - either USPS or PayPal, and you will see instructions for the next steps. This Band of Angels needs our help! Schmitt, SDAR and all of us at SND are forever grateful for your kindness!! Want to see a picture of a young boy's bliss? Just click right here to see for yourself https://www.doberman911.org! December 2024 Still Active High $$ Cases
| Sam!!
|
December, 2024: One never knows what might be found along the curb of any given street or road. Let's set the scenerio - the city is Compton, California. It is a bright, sunny day with the temperature a sweltering *105 plus* degrees. On this blistering hot day on the street, a good samaritan finds an intact male Doberman 'literally baking' on the steaming hot street, his back against the curb... barely conscious! He is actively slowly, and painfully, dying. The good sam moved the Doberman, now known as Sam, into the shade. She provided water for him then called Animal Control. She sat with Sam for hours... but no one ever came to help. Not knowing what to do next, this wonderful angel reached out to the Rescue Warriors of Bella and Sunshine Rescue in Ontario, CA. The B&SR transport team immediately went into action - they rushed to save Sam from the atrocities of the streets and into the care of the B&SR veterinarian. He's guesstimated to be about 5-6 years old. His condition was critical. Not only was he severly dehydrated, he had three teeth with exposed roots (!!), a large cauliflower looking mass on a nipple, and an enlarged right eyeball with drainage, as well as having giardia and tapeworms. (How did this poor fellow ever survive??) Sam was vaccinated, tested for vWD (which was only moderately in the normal range), given meds for his eye and for pain and infection as well as parasite treatment and xrays of his teeth. Sam is improving however his eye isn't responding as hoped. The treatment plan is castration, enucleation with biopsy, nipple mass removal with biopsy and extraction of three teeth. This unexpected expense has brought B&SR to our SND family with hope of assistance with making Sweet Sam healthy and totally pain free. The surgical procedures are a MUST, not optional. These times are tough, especially for all rescues and shelters, and the holidays are upon us. We ask if you could please find it in your hearts to help B&SR with a gift of any amount! Please remember, NO gift is ever too small and each and every donation is greatly appreciated! The Dobes, the rescues and we at SND are profoundly grateful for your assistance. Rescues would not exist without the kindness of donations! Just click on your preferred method of donating - either USPS or PayPal, and you will see instructions for the next steps. This is certainly the season of giving and any donation you make will be matched dollar for dollar by our very generous SECRET SANTA until December 31st!! December, 2024: What a lovely young lady! Sweet and reserved Miss Muffins arrived at Bella and Sunshine Rescue in Ontario, California, a beautiful and for the most part healthy - but carrying a very worrisome secret. She is affected with an extremely low vWd clotting factor of 8!. For those who don't know, this means any cut or scrape (not to mention surgery) has the potential to be fatal. It is a condition that is not inherently obvious until a fatal bleeding incident can cause death. vWd dogs can live their entire lives without ever encountering a cut or scrape to reveal this dangerous and scary factor in their blood as the clotting factor can and does vary at times. It becomes essential that any vet is warned about it before any procedure. Happily, our good friends at Bella and Sunshine Rescue test all their Dobermans for vWd when it's time to alter them. Muffins came to them as a stray, and she's about 3 years old, so no one knows how long she'd been running around just a few steps ahead of potential disaster. We are infinitely grateful to Bella and Sunshine for rescuing, caring for and testing Muffins to make certain she'll live a long, happy and healthy life. First on the agenda is spay surgery for Muffins, which means her surgeons must have ample clotting factor on hand at surgery time to assure Muffins can safely undergo her spay. Many vets opt not to alter vWd dogs due to the danger of hemorrhage, AND due to the cost of the clotting factor itself. But the Angels of Bella and Sunshine want to best for the lovely young lady knowing she'll be much more comfortable and happy with spay surgery and not in danger of a heat period from which she could fatally hemorrhage. Clotting factor is expensive, and has a limited shelf life and luckily her Vet got the the clotting factor and Miss Muffins has now had a successful surgery and did very well. Let's all send happy wishes and a cheerful donation to SND so BS&R can try to recoup the additional expense of her surgery and so keep these Angels doing their amazing work in the SoCal jungles. Muffins can happily welcome the New Year with all of us! Just click on your preferred method of donating - either USPS or PayPal, and you will see instructions for the next steps. December, 2024: Perfect name for a spirited, all natural red head! Hazel was rescued from another overloaded shelter in SoCal by the wonderful folks at Dobies and Little Paws Rescue aka Doberman Pinscher Rescue of Fillmore, California. She has a most beautiful red coat on the lighter side of chestnut shade commonly seen. But, she also had a very odd growth on her left shoulder the size of a golf ball. It looked like a very thick callous, but it kept opening up and weeping fluid. The LPR/DPR nursing team tried all kinds of first aid treatments and wound care to get the area to heal but it stubbornly kept opening up. A visit to their vet said it was actually an abscess under scar tissue and the only way to keep it closed was to remove the lump. Okay, DPR saw to it that an excision was done and now she has quite a big scar on her shoulder - with luckily no signs of cancer for Miss Hazel. No worries, her scar will cover over in time. So, her beautiful eyes that seem to be looking for someone to be her protector and family may soon get the chance to gaze upon her new, wonderful life! No one knows why she ended up in the shelter, an owner dump, an escapee, a turn in? Most all shelters are over capacity with strays and turn-ins by people who claim to find a ‘wandering’ dog that is not theirs. But now Miss Hazel is safe. She is a sweet, loving girl, good with other dogs and is a rocket on walks – always wanting to explore! Now that she is healthy she is ready to rocket into a very lucky family’s heart and have her happily ever after. Please help DLP/DPR by sending in a donation to help cover Hazel’s surgery and keep DLP/DPR financially able to keep saving amazing Dobies like Hazel. Anything will help! Just click on your preferred method of donating - either USPS or PayPal, and you will see instructions for the next steps. This is certainly the season of giving and any donation you make will be matched dollar for dollar by our very generous SECRET SANTA until December 31st!!
