Welcome to doberman911.org, the website for Special Needs Dobermans (SND). We are an organization of people with a common goal of helping senior and special needs Dobermans. That need may be financial or it may be only information and/or moral support for the owner of a Doberman with a serious illness or injury. We will also aid in rehoming and fostering senior Dobermans. These Dobermans may be shelter rescues or they may already be much loved companions with a special need. Financial aid may be through donations or through avenues such as online auctions. Every precaution will be taken to assure that the need is real.

HELP ME

Give me the ugly dog with one eye, three legs,
and help me show that they're more than just a form and a face.

Give me the scarred dog, burned and slashed with hate,
and help me lead it away from that terrible fate.

Give me the deaf and blind dog, and help me show it the way
in the silence and dark of each of their days.

Give me the shutdown dog, depressed of mind,
and help me cherish their soul until their fears unwind.

Give me the old dog, bent and broken with age,
and help me fill their last days with an unending grace.

Give me the ugly dog, I'll leave the pretty one for you,
and help me show them they're worthy of love and joy, too.

Meet The SNDobes Helped With General Funds!!

These Special Needs Dobermans were helped with one-time grants from our most important fund, the General Fund.  This fund is used to help Dobermans fortunate enough to find themselves in Rescue Groups.  Assistance is only provided for extraordinary expenses.  These grants can be augmented by your generous contributions to any of these precious Dobes!! Private owners will be provided the necessary information to help them fundraise for their own Dobes as well as being given information to reduce their costs for medications and ways to seek additional information about Doberman illnesses.

Savannah!

June, 2013: This is Savannah's story of woe turned to bliss by the RescueAngels of Distinguished Dobermans in PA. This precious DobeLady who may be 5 years old, is another trusting soul just left on the streets to fend for herself. She did somehow end up in a shelter - but it was a high kill gassing shelter (yes, some states still allow this cruel death!). Good fortune finally found this dejected Southern Belle and they knew immediately they had to help her - with the help of Pilots N Paws. Little did she know she was at last on the road to love and happiness, no more fear and pain as she'd known on the streets and in the shelter. The DDR volunteer who met Savannah at the airport confessed that the sight of this poor girl made her drop to her knees. Miss Savannah was underweight, covered in scars, had hair loss from a severe case of Demodex along with a waddle type gait. But what was even worse was that she had no hope in her eyes. What had she endured, and for how long? Savannah's vet visit revealed not only Demodex, but also a secondary skin infection and TWO torn ACL ligaments, one in each knee. No wonder she had to waddle! And the injuries were old. This little one had been in pain for a long time. Not only did she suffer from the torn ligaments, mites were feeding on her as well. Savannah's skin condition had to be brought under control before she was able to have surgery. Although she is still being treated for Demodex, she did improve enough to have her ACL surgeries completed and is on her way to recovery! "Before and After" pictures ARE worth 10,000 words, so, we made her a Poster Girl! We all know how VERY expensive TPLO can be, well, TWO knees are doubly so! DDR has come to SND with hopes we can provide assistance with Savannah's vet bill, however, we can only do so much without YOUR help. Your donations continue to make all the difference in the rescue and healing of those Dobes let down by the ones they previously depended on. Remember, no amount is ever to small, and every cent goes to the Dobermans. You can donate by using the Paypal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Please consider keeping the vital General Fund solvent so we can do as much as possible to help the Savannah's of our beloved breed. As always, thanks from the hearts of all Lovers of Dobermans.

Cajon!

June, 2013: Cajon was rescued from a high kill shelter 2 years ago by the angels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore, California. He immediately needed surgery to remove a kidney stone which caused him pain and also resulted in bloody urine. Since then, although Cajon sleeps on a soft bed and has all the comforts he deserves (except a forever home, as yet), he developed a large hygroma on his left elbow, which required surgery. Hygromas are 'false bruises' according to the Merck Veterinary Dictionary. They are swellings that occur when a bony prominence, such as an elbow, is continually bumped or hit, producing swelling. Sometimes, they can be successfully treated using extra padding on the joint, but in Cajon's case, surgery was required to prevent further damage. Our friends at Doberman Pinscher Rescue in Fillmore are caring for over 100 dogs at any given time - at their facilities and in foster care - dogs that would have met their sad fate in shelters or on the streets. They desperately needed financial assistance to help Cajon and to continue helping these wonderful Dobermans who have been given a second chance at a good life. Please help us help them by sending a donation to Special Needs Dobermans by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Just looking at this beautiful boy's face is reward enough. Every penny goes to his veterinary care and will help this wonderful Rescue continue their amazing life saving work. Thank you from Cajon and your friends at SND!

Chrissie!

June, 2013: Sweet Chrissie at 7 years-old found herself dumped at the local shelter because her owners didn't want to pay for the medical care she needed. Due to her age and medical condition the shelter would not put her on the adoption floor but listed her for "rescue only" and her time was short. The RescueAngels of Doberman Rescue of Nevada could not allow this adorable girl to be euthanized and they came to the rescue! Total neglect from her former family left her with a right ear that was nearly clogged with grit from a bacterial infection, a badly infected toenail, and teeth that needed serious medical attention. In spite of all the pain she was in she is a happy girl. The vet who took care of her commented three times when talking to her angels that, "she's very sweet." She likes everyone and everything and it would have been a tragic waste to have allowed her to be PTS at the shelter. She was listed as a Senior for Sponsorship or Adoption and it didn't take very long for her Forever Angel came to give her the life she always deserved! Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay alive in any way possible. You can start helping by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, 100% of your donation will be used for Dobes is need - just like Miss Chrissie! And, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! THANK YOU from the Rescue Angels at DRNV and from Miss Chrissie too!!!!!

Please Help General Fund Chrissie!

Gretchen!

June, 2013: What does an all-breed rescue like BARC/AAPL in Southern California do when they encounter a beautiful DobeLady like Gretchen in the sea of other dogs needing their help? Gretchen had been dumped at the shelter - to be PTS by an owner who said she had severe hip dysplasia but then skipped out without paying the fee - nice!! That cruel person's actions was Gretchen's luck as she was taken under the wings of the volunteers for BARC/AAPL when they happened to be rescuing other unfortunate dogs. They took Gretchen to their vet who told them her hips were fine but she had a torn ACL - a surgical bill this group could not entertain without help! They did not give up on Gretchen there! Instead, they reached out to Doberman Pinscher Rescue who referred them to SND and now we ask you to join us in helping these RescueAngels recover from this blow to their budget. Of course, we are still ready and willing as long as we can and did so from our General Fund! Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay alive in any way possible. You can start helping Gretchen by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, 100% of your donation will be used for Gretchen... and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! THANK YOU from the Rescue Angels at BARC/AAPL and from Miss Gretchen too!!!!

Bear!

June, 2013: Bear is a sweet, easy going Senior boy whose owner had to enter an assisted living facility and had no family who could take over the care of his beloved Doberman - Bear had begun to suffer the effects too as he had not gotten heartworm preventative in a long time. Fortunately, a caring neighbor stepped in and contacted Doberman Rescue of Colorado who agreed to take Bear into the rescue, saving him from a trip to the local animal shelter where Seniors are usually PTS quickly. Bear has an eager family waiting to adopt him but first he must complete his expensive heart worm treatment. SND is asking for your help to pay for this costly treatment so that this Huggy Bear can get on with the rest of his life with people who will love him and are able make sure he never has to go through this treatment again. Please help SND make Bear's dreams come true by making a tax deductible donation using the Paypal button to the right or by mailing one in. No amount is ever too small and 100% of your gift will go to Mr. Bear's expenses! As always, SND so appreciates your continued support in keeping the vital General Fund stay alive in any way possible. THANK YOU!!!

Roo!

June, 2013: When Roo was 4 years old his people found out he was Wobbler's positive. So they did what all such families do in a crisis -- they dumped him. Luckily the saving angels at Special Needs Animal Sanctuary in North Carolina took him in. Roo has major separation anxiety issues. Unfortunately he's quite a basket case, his foster-mom can't even go to the mailbox without him screaming and running window to window, poor boy. She says she is never alone anymore as he has become stuck like glue to her. They were trying to teach him about crates being safe places... he had a nice blanket and a toy... which brings us to today's problem. He ate the toy. We all knows what follows, vomiting, panic and a surgical intervention. He had not one but three blockages, little stinker. He made it through the surgery but has been having episodes of nose bleeds ever since. To date they're still trying to figure out why these are happening. All in all, this is one sick and troubled Dober-dude, but we all know there is a life waiting for him somewhere and people who will love him. Just look at that face! Please join MaryAnn Mayne, Special Needs Animal Sanctuary and us in getting him ready for his new life. Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay alive in any way possible. You can start helping Roo by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! And Thank You from Roo too!!!

Brutus!

May, 2013: This is a sad story. It was a hard bio to write. I hope all of you who have read so many of my words over the years will read this boy's story. There isn't much, it won't take you long. Brutus is 15 weeks old. Not even 4 months on this earth and he is forever damaged and changed. I know the resilience of the Doberman spirit will take him far, now that he is safe, but the bottom line remains the same. He was rescued by A Pinsch of Heaven Doberman Rescue in TN with a completely shattered left front shoulder. Because it was an OLD injury it had fused together very incorrectly. His former owners waited weeks to get him ZERO medical care. As a result, it was necessary to amputate his entire shoulder and leg. Fallon Chaplin and A Pinsch of Heaven Doberman Rescue Angels have asked SND for help with this baby boy. We are, in turn, asking the great Doberman community to also help us and a Pinsch of Heaven get him through this and into a forever home. You can start helping by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thank you from the bottom of Brutus' little heart!!!!

Bentley!

May, 2013: Poor Bentley is only one year old and already wearing the cone of shame. He ate something, possibly a towel, and he needed emergency surgery to remove it. Not a new story, although his face is exceptionally cute in the cone - we promised NOT to shame him on the web, this time! Unfortunately for him his family decided to have him PTS as he has done this before (DobeGoat?) and they were unable to afford the surgery. The veterinarian at the ER hospital decided to call SADAR before killing this pretty boy. Of course Margo Marsh and the SADAR Angels opted to give him a chance with some help from emergency assistance from SND's General Fund and he got the needed surgery. Once he has healed from this, and his neuter, he's going to be looking for his forever home. Please consider helping Bentley by donating to the vital (literally) General Fund. 100% of your donation goes to the Dobes in need! You can start helping by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your support of our SNDobies!! Thanks!!!

Adelaide!

May, 2013: Sweet Adelaide came to A Pinsch of Heaven Doberman Rescue in Tennessee from a shelter in Tupelo, MS. This poor little 2 year old girl was coughing, emaciated and has at least 5 very large tumors, as well as small ones everywhere. The shelter tested her positive for HW, and not a small load either. A blood panel showed her to be vWd+ and in need of a transfusion. She has been placed on doxycline to prep her for the HW treatment and prednisone for her cough - she has a very tough path in front of her. This little girl is super sweet and very smart. In fact, she isn't going to have to look far for a home, her foster-mom has fallen for her brains, beauty and temperament. Please join Fallon Chaplin and A Pinsch of Doberman Heaven, as well as SND, in giving this Dober-girlie a good life. Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can - Adelaide for one appreciates it VERY much!! You can start by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Remember no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your help of our SNDobies!!! Thank you!!

Tobias!

May, 2013: Tobias is estimated to be seven months old, just a puppy! Need I mention the allure of those eyes?... Anyway, he wound up in Fulton County Animal Control in Atlanta, bringing him well in reach of Jane Fratesi and her band of angels at Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Rescue. Jane brought this young Dober-dude home and, as he has already donated the family jewels, should be ready to find his forever home. Unfortunately he does have one problem to be dealt with first, he has a swollen elbow. He has a puncture there which is of undetermined nature, although the vet felt it might have been a snake bite. With so many unknowns, diagnostics began to tally up! It is to be hoped he will have an uneventful recovery with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories before going on to becoming the light of someone's life and the apple (Golden Delicious) of someone's eye! Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can so we can be at the ready to help DobeKidz like Tobias! You can start helping Tobias by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right. You may also mail one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies! Thank you!!

Toby!

May, 2013: Toby has come to our attention by the Rescue Angels of Doberman Assistance Network (D.A.N.). As this is being written, Toby is having a compound tibial fracture surgically repaired. Somehow, he came to the attention of the Animal Control in Tennessee, who discovered Toby's owners have NEVER taken Toby to a veterinarian -- for anything. When the ACO inquired as to what to do about Toby's treatment, the Neanderthals responded that they had no idea how the leg was broken and... if he were returned to them, they would just take him home and shoot him. Thankfully, Toby was signed over to D.A.N. and Toby's prognosis is infinitely brighter due to this amazing organization. DAN has rescued and placed more deserving Dobermans than anyone can count by now, and they cannot possibly continue this life saving work without contributions from all those who love Dobes. By keeping SND's vital General Fund stay afloat, you'll be helping Toby now and so we can help the Doberman Assistance Network stay in position to save more Dobes. Every cent goes to the care of these precious Dobes. No amount is too small and it would mean so much to us here at SND, Mr. Toby and D.A.N. You can donate by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. THANK YOU!!!

Fender!

April, 2013: We have a lovely little red boy named Fender who needs our help. Turned in as a stray in Los Angeles by a person claiming that the dog was a stray, but shelter employees believe it was really the owner. He had a severely broken leg, probably hit by a car - hence his new name... Fender! The leg was splinted at the shelter and the Rescue Angels from Doberman Pinscher Rescue were called. X-rays revealed that both the radius and the ulna of one front leg were broken and displaced, but repairable with surgery. The cost of this surgery, as you can imagine is quite high as you can guess!!! All rescues rely completely on donations to survive and they are presently tending a full house of Dobes right now - the southern California shelters (and there are many) are always confronted by a very large influx of stray and unwanted Dobes and other dogs. Dear Mr. Fender is the sweetest little red guy and only one year old. Please help the SND General Fund help this DPR and this precious pup and hopefully he will find a family that cares for him as he derserves to be. Any amount that you can donate would mean so much to us here at SND, Mr. Fender and DPR. We appreciate any help you can give and know that 100% of your tax-deductible gift will go to helping these unfortunate Dobes. You can donate by using the PayPal button on the right or by mailing one in. THANK YOU!!

Montana!

April, 2013: Montana once had a family, a life. Sweet, friendly and only 5 years old, Montana had it made... Then his family hit a rough patch, as so many of us have in recent years. They are losing their home and life is hard. Montana developed a limp, which worsened until he was not using that leg at all. His owners could not afford the type of medical care he would need and surrendered him to Doberman Rescue of Nevada. DRNV contacted his breeder who would be willing to take him back but couldn't/wouldn't provide medical care. So the angels of DRNV went ahead with the care he needed (of course!). It was one toe, diagnosed with chronic bacterial infection and/or cancer. The surgery was successful and he is recovering well. Soon he'll be ready to find a new home! Please join DRNV and SND in helping this Dober-dude. Please consider helping the vital General Fund in any way you can. You can start helping Montana by using the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small and 100% will be used for the Dobes! As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!!! Thank you!!

Jade!

April, 2013: Sweet Jade is probably about 5. She was just pulled from Animal Control in Phenix City, Alabama. She is, of course, heartworm positive. Jane Fratesi and the Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Rescue Angels have her safely in hand, but those nasty worms must die! Please help Jane, ADPR, SND and the DPCA Rescue fund in ridding Jade of these little heartbreakers! Her present story is short but we all hope her future will be filled with health, love and the Forever Home she so deserves!! Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can, it helps so many of these HW+ Doberkids just to name a few! You can start helping by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. 100% of your donation will alwlays go to the dogs. Topper!

March, 2013: Meet Topper who is a total love-bug, middle-aged Dober-fella. Very friendly with dogs, people, anything. He came from a Stockton, CA shelter and was at a Bay area boarding kennel, awaiting transport to Rescue Angels from Northern California Doberman Rescue in Red Bluff, when the kennel owner decided something was not quite right. It was a good call as Topper was on his way to a stomach flip. Off he went for emergency surgery at Four Seasons Animal Hospital. Topper came through with flying colors, although he must endure the cone of shame for a little while! Hopefully healing with be uneventful and he will be ready to bring total joy to some lucky family soon! SND and North California Doberman Rescue ask for your help getting this sweetie healthy. Helping NorCalDR now means they get to save the next Dobe in need!! Please consider donating to the vital General fund, it helps so many of these dogs. You can begin helping Topper by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. As always, 100% of your donation goes to the dogs! Smokey!

March, 2013: Say hello to Smokey! This young, 2 year old, severely malnourished Doberboy was rescued by DAN (Doberman Assistance Network) and was taken into foster care by the RescueAngels at Distinguished Dobermans Rescue. When vetted, he had a severe case of hookworm, an eye infection and a cracked tooth. Smokey went to his foster home with Panacur and Neopredex and after several weeks Smokey's fecals were finally negative and he'd gained enough weight to go under anesthesia for his neutering and tooth extraction. Smokey was prepped for his surgeries when it was discovered his tooth was so terribly infected that he needed the services of a vet who was better equipped to handle oral surgery. This very infected tooth is suspected as the cause of the eye infection and why the medications prescribed for Smokey's eyes were not effective. Smokey was taken directly from the original vet's office where he was prepped for neutering to the specialist to have his tooth extracted. What DDR had expected to be a routine neuter and tooth extraction turned out to be a very expensive removal of an infected tooth! Not being prepared for a last minute expense, DDR has reached out to SND for whatever help we can provide. Please help us assist DDR with this latest emergency, for we can't do it without you! A tax deductible donation can be made using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. NO amount is ever to small. As always, we at SND and the Dobers you help save appreciate the graciousness of your continued support! Remember, 100% of your donation to Mr. Smokey will be added to his inititial grant from the General Fund.goes to the dogs! Thank you!!

Nettie!

March, 2013: Miss Nettie was used as a breeding bitch for years, (she's probably 6 now) until her owner died. The family lost no time dumping her at a shelter. Since it was Christmas, and she was so sweet, one of the shelter workers took her home with her for the holidays - and contacted South West Ohio Doberman Rescue. Needless to say, Toni, Melissa and the rest of the RescueAngels of SWODR, took her right in, and found a foster home for her. All was good in Nettie's world... until she ate a rug. Yup, Nettie is a Dober-goat, and we all know about living with them! Her Foster Mom had already taken away any consumable toys; the rug must have looked like the next best thing. So dear Nettie needed an emergency trip to All Creatures Animal Hospital for surgery to remove all foreign objects. Happily she is fine, even if she wears the cone of shame! SWODR and SND are united in working on her surgical bill and we are hoping you will join us!! Please consider helping Nettie in any way you can. If you have successfully survived a Dober-goat, please donate in their honor!! You can start helping Nettie by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, 100% of your donation goes to this DobeLady and as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thank you!!

Darby!

March, 2013: Tonya Griffith, who runs an Animal Rescue, was getting ready to take a cat to Hawkins Animal Clinic for a spay, when she heard a dog yelp outside. A vehicle pulled up to say a dog had been hit down the road, and sure enough, there was Darby, a beautiful blue Doberman. He couldn't stand so she carefully lifted him up under his front legs and carried him to her vehicle. It was apparent his left foreleg was broken, but X-rays showed more damage. His pelvis was broken on both sides, but luckily still squared up enough to heal well. His leg was a different story, requiring surgery so off he went to Dr. Williams and Gresham Veterinary Hospital, in Tyler, Texas. In a three hour surgery, they were able to pin the bone and to wire the free floating pieces of bone. He came through well and is looking at about two months of recovery time before looking for his forever home. Look at that face, it shouldn't be hard to grab someone's heart! It is always so very heartening when an all-breed all-animal rescue uses their precious resources to help one of ours - let's get together and reward this Dobe Good Sam by helping with Darby's expenses! Thank you Tonya!! Please consider helping the vital General Fund in any way you can. You can begin helping Darby by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. SashaRose!

March, 2013: Meet SeniorLady, 13 years young, Miss Sasha Rose! She was dumped like so much garbage in a neighborhood in New Orleans before Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue could get to her "owners" email wanting to surrender her. She was picked up by Animal Control as a stray so had to, by law, spend four days in a horrible shelter before her RescueAngels could pick her up. Sasha is deaf or very hard of hearing and when pulled had a severe ear infection. She has arthritis in her rear legs but still gets around well and has been placed on medication to help with this. She was, to everyone's surprise and delight, heartworm free! As a Senior who likely has had very little medical care, it wasn't surprising that she had teeth rotting in her mouth and lumps all about - 4 that were suspicious were removed. Seniors can be an expensive proposition for Rescues - but that didn't stop GCDR - nor will it stop us at SND and YOU we hope... in getting this New Orleans Queen back on the road to good health!! Miss Sasha Rose is still very much the Dobie Girlie and can hang with the rest of her foster mates when it comes to leaning and nudging for attention. Her Foster Mom feels she still has some living and loving to do, even at the grand young age of 13!! Please consider helping our vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can. You can start helping Miss Sasha Rose by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right or you can also mail one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small and 100% of your donation goes to this DobeLady! We at SND appreciate your continued support of the SNDobies!!! Thanks!! Miss Sasha Rose is also currently listed as a Senior at the Senior Dobe Project so you could choose to Sponsor her here: http://www.doberman911.org/seniors/cases/la_sasharose.html

Tiki!

March, 2013: Miss Tiki has finally beat the odds by using the legal system to move from a bad situation to the RescueAngels of Doberman Rescue of Colorado! It took two weeks for the court to rule on her confiscation and to permit her transfer to DRCO. While we don’t know the circumstances that drove city animal control to remove her from her previous "owner," we do know that she is she is underweight, is somewhat un-socialized, and has a broken front leg. Of course, due to legal constraints, the broken leg went untreated while she was in the city shelter awaiting the court ruling. She is a sweet 16 month old DobeGirlie and seems very willing to adapt to a friendly environment. DRCO will have Tiki’s broken radius/ulna plated immediately. Miss Tiki will thenhave to undergo extensive professional follow-up therapy to regain full use of her front leg. Although the clinic has given DRCO a huge discount for the operation, the cost is still daunting for a rescue, especially considering the extensive required therapy. Please consider helping our vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can. You can start helping Miss Tiki by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right and marking it a gift. You can also mail one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thanks!! Remember, 100% of your kindness goes to Miss Tiki!

Jerry!

March, 2013: Jerry must have belonged to someone, but no one came looking for him when he was arrested as a stray. Lucky for him, Doberman Pinscher Rescue swooped down and lifted him out of his new prison. It seemed, at first, as though he would be just another 3 year old boy who needed to be "snipped" before starting the search for his forever family. Unfortunately while he was recuperating from his neuter surgery, blood began appearing in his stool. He went through a series of enteric antibiotics, but they didn't seem to help at all and he continued to bleed. It was then noticed that "something" peeked out of his anus during poops (bless those docked tails!). DPR's regular vet confirmed the presence of the growth but stated his inability to remove it. So off Jerry went to a surgical specialist who agreed he needed a "rectal pull-through", which certainly sounds painful! This has been successfully performed and Jerry's little hitchhiker is gone. Better still, the 1" by 2" growth was pronounced benign! Woohoo for Jerry! Now he can get back to searching for the family who will love him to pieces forever. SND joined Doberman Pinscher Rescue in helping this Dober-dude get ready for the rest of his life. Now we are asking you, the great Doberman community to help also. Please consider donating to the vital General Fund which aids so many injured Dobermans. You can start helping by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, or by mailing one in. 100% of your donation will 'go to the dogs'. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! Thanks!!

Memphis!

March, 2013: Meet MISTER Memphis! This is when he gets the dignity he deserves as a Senior DobeGent!! Mr. Memphis was DUMPED with his DobeLady companion, Miss Abby. Both Dobes are housebroken and crate trained, but 5 years ago their owners fenced in their back yard and when that happened Memphis and Abby were thrown out - to live outside 24/7. These people also had 2 Havanese who lived indoors. Memphis would sometimes squeeze in through the tiny dog door, and when they came home from work he would by lying on the couch. He didn’t destroy anything or get into anything, just wanted a comfy place to sleep. They changed the fencing in the yard so he could not get to the dog door to stop him from coming in. Step in RescueAngels from Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Rescue!! As soon as they saw him they knew something was wrong with his back end. It was weak and drooped. He was vetted and ADPR's vet examined his spine and feels that he either has Wobblers, or the weakness could be caused by compressed discs. Whatever it is, he has been dealing with this for years. His vet records indicate that he had not see a vet since April 2009, not even for vaccinations. Mr. Memphis has many other "Senior" issues which will be attended by his RescueAngels with your help - including the possiblity of gold beads implants if he responds to acupuncture. Won't you please, please, please - help us help him! A sweeeet DobeGent deserves no less - he will soon be listed as a Senior on the Senior's site seeking Sponsorship and we will add the link soon! Please consider helping our vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can. You can start helping Mr. Memphis by making a tax deductible donation to his vet expenses by using the PayPal button to the right and marking it a gift. You can also mail one in. Remember, 100% of your kindness goes to Mr. Memphis and no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! THANK YOU!! Mr. Memphis was also listed as a Senior at the Senior Dobe Project.

Gemma!

Febraury, 2013: Introducing Gemma! This little 4 year old came to the attention of Doberman Assistance Network (DAN) when she was a stray on the streets of North Carolina. Another precious pupster whose former owner didn't find her worthy enough to give her even the basics of food, love and shelter let alone heartworm prevention medication. This unspayed little lady was left all alone to fend for herself. When the DAN Angels saved her from the scarey and dangerous streets, she was not only emaciated but she was pregnant as well. This poor little girl didn't have enough body weight to sustain herself let alone the puppies she was carrying! And on top of it all, she was, unsurprisingly, heartworm positive. She stayed with DAN until she whelped her puppies, and then the family went to the waiting Rescue Angels of Distinguished Dobermans Rescue. Gemma had to nurse her pups and wean them before she was able to be spayed and have her long and life-saving heartworm treatments started. DDR always rescues many sick, injured, and unwanted Dobies and has come to SND for financial aide in paying for Gemma's heartworm treatment. Won't you please find it in your hearts to make a donation to the SND General Fund for Miss Gemma? The SND General Fund needs your assisstance to stay afloat and be able to help the Dobermans in need. You can designate your gift exclusively for Gemma's care and know that 100% of your donations will go to help DDRI with her HW ridding expenses! Donations can be given via the PayPal button on the right or you can always mail one in. We at SND and all of the Dobies you help thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. Remember, no donation is ever to small! Your gifts of any amount is what keeps SND alive and able to help the ones unable to help themselves. Again, we thank you!

Hagan!

Febraury, 2013: Meet Mr. Hagan! At the young age of approximately 3 years, Hagan found himself a stray on the streets of North Carolina. Where did he come from? How long had he been trying to survive on his own? Who could allow this to happen? Did anyone even care that Hagan was starving! That his body was emaciated!! The good people of D.A.N. cared and saved Hagan from destined starvation. The Rescue Angels from Distinguished Dobermans Rescue then stepped up to foster Hagan and provide him the care he needed. At last his luck had changed!! Now he would be loved, safe, and never hunger for food again. But the story doesn't end there. Even though he will now always have love and a full belly, Hagan is unfortunately heartworm positive and will need the extensive and expensive treatment that will ultimately save his life. DDR has come to SND for assistance to help save this sweet boy. DDR rescues many sick and injured Dobies and SND would like to assist them with Hagan, but we need your support to do so. Please help by making a tax deductible donation to the General Fund. You can use the PayPal button to the right and mark your gift for Hagan - of course, you can always mail one in. Remember no amount is ever to small and 100% of your donations will go to help DDRI with Hagan's expense! SND greatly thanks you for your support in enabling us to continue helping Dobes in need. We couldn't do it without you! THANK YOU!!

Schwarzy!

March 27, 2013 - It is with great sadness that we tell you that Dave lost his dearest friend to osteosarcoma. It was a brave and valiant fight but the odds were against him. He lives on in his Dad's heart always... RIP dear Schwarzy, you are forever loved!
February, 2013: Two months later (last December), dear Mr. Schwarzy is back with some alarming signs... He had his amputation and his Dad, with the help of really good friends, took care of that issue. Now, we are ALL hoping for the best and we will try to achieve that! PLEASE try and help us! Last December, this was dear Schwarzy's story: For Schwarzy's 5th birthday, he got a limp. His loving Dober-Dad, Dave, got it looked at immediately. Unfortunately it is the dreaded osteosarcoma. The only life saving option for this much beloved boy was a complete right limb and shoulder amputation. Dave was determined to save his best friend's life and the surgery went well. He says it was the hardest thing he has ever had to do. Dave has come into our Dobe-loving group asking for help with the last of Schwarzy's chemo expenses. The surgery was very expensive, as was the chemo he has had so far. Dave doesn't know any of us (yet!) but he has also offered his shoulder and advice to anyone facing amputation surgery on their Dober-Kid. You have only to look at the pictures Dave has taken of his pretty boy to see how important he is to him (as he should be) - hopefully, we can get those pix into a Photo Album on the SND Café soon. Dave & Schwarzy got their wish - to see SNOW this year... and that they did - the pix will touch your heart!! PLEASE join us in our effort to help Dave & Schwarzy win this battle! Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can. You can start helping Schwarzy by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right or by mailing one in. 100% of your donations will go to helping this family! Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! THANK YOU!!

Logan!

Febraury, 2013: Meet Mr. Logan! He's a sweet one year old who found himself with a fractured femur and taken in to be PTS as his people could not afford the surgery necessary to save his life and limb. Having been bred way too early, Logan was on a testosterone high and nothing could keep him from jumping fences to quench his fire, that is until he landed on his leg just wrong!! A tryst that almost cost him his life too... With a Vet Tech Angel who has a very big spot on her heart for Dobes and the kindness of her clinic, Mr. Logan has had surgery to pin his fracture, nip the testosterone factory in the bud AND he has been taken under the wing of Chuck Vaile and his RescueAngels from Doberman Rescue of Colorado! Thanks to all who have touched this sweet DobeBoy's life! Please join DRCO and SND in getting Mr. Logan to his Forever Family and so begin the rest of his life in safety and love! 100% of your donations, as always, will go to help the long rehab road Mr. Logan has to travel - your support to the General Fund has given Mr. Logan his start down that road! Please consider helping our vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can. You can start helping Logan by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right and marking it a gift. You can also mail one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thanks!!

Rufus!

Febraury, 2013: Rufus could be only three... or even as old as five. His so-called "family" passed on zero info when they dumped him in an Iowa shelter. He went from there to rescue assistance and Linn of Prairie State Dobe who got him to Mary Ruud and her RescueAngels at Doberman Rescue Minnesota. Whew... but the journey was worth it, know why? Because he is worth it! Thanks to everyone who cared enough to help him move along "home" - Minnesota is home now and foster-parents Lee and Kathy are loving their first fostering experience. But there is always a problem, and with sweet Rufus it's his teeth. He can eat only slowly and gingerly. He needs a full dental overhaul, including a number of extractions, poor boy. In spite of the pain and discomfort he must be in, he's a very nice boy. He loves everyone and everything, other dogs, cats and kids. I am including the link for Dogs at the Dome in Minneapolis, which he attended, along with about 450 other dogs, it, and he, were amazing. See for yourself!! http://youtu.be/nR9E72Kttq0What changes this boy is taking totally in stride, imagine how great life would be without pain! Please join DRMN and SND in getting this sweetie-pie ready for that forever home (which will be so lucky to get him). 100% of your donations will go "to the dogs!" Please consider helping our vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can. You can start helping Rufus by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right and marking it a gift. You can also mail one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thanks!!

Sage!

Febraury, 2013: Meet Miss Sage! She began her life as a puppy machine and when she was no longer a "cash cow," she was dumped. Luckily, she was rescued in TN and even more luckily, she was adopted 3 years ago by Judy who gave her the love and comfort she likely never knew before. She was thriving beautifully until, as so often happens with dogs so used, she developed a mammary tumor which just kept growing. Judy frantically tried to get help for her but given the economic realities she faced and the diificulty in getting treatment now on time payments, Sage has had to endure. Preliminary diagnostics show that this tumor is well contained and her lungs are clear giving her the best chance to be rid of this threat to her life. SND has pledged to help Miss Sage with a General Fund grant and now we ask you to join us - she deserves it!! 100% of donations we receive in her name will be added to her grant. Please consider helping the vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you can! You can start by making a tax deductible donation by using the Pay Pal button to the right or by mailing one in. No amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! THANKS!!

Beau!

Febraury, 2013: Goofy Beau was a stray from South Dakota, he was only 4 years old and facing the killer cocktail. RescueAngel Mary Ruud and Doberman Rescue of Minnesota saved him and found a foster home for him. Unfortunately he will probably never be adopted, but his foster family is very tolerant of his quirks. He has a cleft palate, so he drools... a lot. Food tends to get stuck in there too, but he just coughs it back up, no problem! He is also prone to sneaking a poop in the house if he can get away with it (well, jeesh, it's Minnesota for crying out loud). He's is also a big old goof who doesn't mind humping you if he thinks you're attractive.... so, no, not a typical DoberDude (yeah ,right :). His life has gone on pretty well for the last two years, but now he has a problem. It seems he has a torn ACL. Mary and DRMN want to get this fixed for him so he can go back to life with the foster family who love him so much. SND has joined in this healing project and we all wish him well! You can start helping Doberman Rescue of Minnesota and Beau by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right (choose gift!). You may also mail one in. Either way please help the vital General Fund stay afloat in any way you choose. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! 100% of your donation goes to the Dobes in need - Mr. Rufus in this case! Thank you from the bottom of his little puddle of lovedrool!!! And, as always, we at SND appreciate your support of these precious SNDobies!!! Thank you!!

Simon!

Febraury, 2013: Simon was only nine months old when his people surrendered him to their vet, they had brought him in to be PTS. He had incontinence problems, but the vet felt he was definitely worth saving and got him into rescue. Home for Life Animal Sanctuary took him, gladly, gave him access to a doggy door - -and he has been dry and clean ever since. That was six years ago and he has more than shown his gratitude - he has been a shining ambassador for our breed. At one year old he began participating in the Sanctuary's Renaissance Program, partnered with a young teenager, Ron, who gained his first experience (and success) with dog training. Simon went on to become a certified therapy dog and has even been pictured with Cesar Milan! Simon's main job these days is in the Sit*Stay*Heal Program at a VA Poly-Trauma unit. So, yup, sweet Simon is officially a veteran who has made a huge difference for many injured men and women. If you have ever spent any amount of time in a VA hospital, you have some idea how important Simon's job is, he is truly a Dober-hero. JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE!! That can defrost an ice cube with that smile!! Unfortunately, Simon has developed Wobbler's and is not a good candidate for the typical Wobbler's surgery being performed. He also has not responded to alternative medical therapies. The Sanctuary has over 200 special needs animals there - but determined to save their Simon and had two MRI's performed. It has been decided he would most benefit from a new type of Wobbler's surgery performed by a wonderful surgeon, Dr. Adamo, from California. He has successfully completed this surgery on 20 Dobermans and the Sanctuary staff promises to share all surgical info with our interested community. But first it has to happen, and that will take money - lots of money. Dr. Adamo has been persuaded to travel to Chicago to perform the surgery, saving Simon many painful miles. He has the volunteers in place to travel the six hours to Chicago with him, stay with him and care for him. Now we just need to help make it all possible. Please join Home for Life Animal Sanctuary and SND in helping this loving, giving DobeGuy. Please consider helping Simon in any way you can by supporting our vital General Fund. You can begin to help by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right (gift, please!). You may also mail one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thank You!!!!

Romeo!

January, 2013: Romeo, Oh Romeo! Who did this to you? Although the shelter where he was dumped calls him one to two years old, SADAR's vet calls him at least five. Who knows which is closer to right - was it a really hard two years or a tortured five? He weighs 36 pounds and had more ticks than body weight, poor boy. He eats very slowly for a starving dog, and can't seem to gain weight - even without the ticks sucking him dry. His blood work is all over the place and he obviously needs many more tests to figure out what is going on. SADAR wants to get him healthy and happy so he can live out his life the way a Dobe should - loved and spoiled. We have joined with them in this, now we ask all of you to help also. Please consider helping our General Fund stay solvent in any way you can. Nothing is too small when it comes to helping those you cannot help themselves. You can start helping by using the PayPal button to the right for your gift donation. You may also mail one in. 100% of your donation goes to the Dobes in need, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your support of our SNDobies!!! Thank you!!

Karma!

March, 2013: We are delighted to give you the wonderful news that this DobeGirlie has made remarkable strides in recovery - so much so that her remaining dental procedures will leave her fit for finding her Furever Home as her Rescue Angels from DRNC have told us!! Kudos and cheers to them and this brave little lady!!
January, 2013: Sweet one or less years old Karma was found by animal control. Doberman Assistance Network got her to Doberman Rescue of North Carolina for the help she sorely needed. That black spot you see in the thumbnail to the left is NOT a spot - Karma was shot in the face!! Some piece of human garbage shot her in the face and left her to die. Just look at her pictures - to the left, above and as our new Poster Girl on http://www.doberman911.org/ - someone looked this sweet girl in the eye and shot her. I'm sure you can all read my mind as I write this (Posse? Did I hear posse?). DRNC's regular vet has referred her on as this is beyond his knowledge and ability, her injuries are so extensive. Because her treatment will require specialized care, she will be going to North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine for treatment. She will probably have her surgery there also. In part, her injuries include multiple jaw fractures, dental fractures (with infection) and the soft tissue damage of the entrance and exit wounds. DRNC says she is very sweet... she tolerates all the painful poking and probing with courage and gentleness. DRNC and SND can't find the scum that did this to her - but we can help her heal. She deserves a life of love, not a painful death. Please consider helping the vital General Fund in any way you can. You can start helping Karma by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right (labeled gift) or by mailing one in. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! Thank you so much!!!

Apollo!

January, 2013: Dear Apollo! A desperate plea from his DobeDad unfortunately came too late to save his precious DobeSon. SND was able to help with diagnostics but sadly the news was all bad. Ken took his boy's pain and made it his when it became evident that there was no help to be had. We all grieve with you Ken - a Dobe so loved is sorely missed. Please consider helping our General Fund stay solvent in any way you can. Nothing is too small when it comes to helping those you cannot help themselves. Rosie!

January, 2013: Rosie's family gave up on her on January 7th, she's only 5 months old. They didn't have, or wouldn't pay the $10 relinquishment fee, just said they couldn't pay her medical bills and left her. According to them she caught her hind leg in a stationary mower a month ago and it fractured. Supposedly she has been splinted this whole time - until a new vet at their clinic told them it wouldn't heal without surgery. Well, it will, and she will be whole again - if the RescueAngels from Doberman Pinscher Rescue have anything to do with it! X-rays show healing is happening and there is some good growth going on, although she will need a heavy splint from here on out until healing is complete. SND is committed to giving this baby-girl the chance of a full speed ahead Dober kind of life, will you join us? You can start helping Rosie by making a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right, marking it as a gift. You may also mail one in. 100% of your contribution will go to Rosie's rehabilitation and healing (and splint changes!). Please help keep our General Fund alive for sweet girls like Rosie who have no where else to go but to us, the great Doberman community. Remember, no amount is ever too small, and, as always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!! Thank you!!

Teddy!

January, 2013: Teddy was a Texas stray, scratching on motel room doors, looking for help... A kind-hearted trucker, named Ted (yes, his namesake), let him in -- then got him into rescue. He's probably about two years old and did have a collar - but no tags or microchip. Someone loved this boy, and got love in return. Teddy jumped in the bed and slept with the trucker that night. He had a bad case of hookworms and coccidia, but nothing major - until he got his shots. Then he started bleeding anally... followed by a big old allergic reaction to one of the shots. Poor boy, you know how he looked, all swollen and miserable. Now the RescueAngels at San Antonio Doberman Advocacy and Rescue need to get him healthy so he can move on to that forever home he wants so badly. Please consider helping the vital general fund stay alive in any way you can... so it can continue to help dogs like Teddy. 100% of your donation goes directly to the dogs - and no amount is ever too small. Please consider helping with a tax deductible donation using the PayPal button to the right (declare it a gift and the dogs get more!). Or you may mailing one in. However you choose to help, we at SND would like to thank you for your continued support of our SNDobies!! Thank You!!!

Koty!

January, 2013: At 10 years old, Koty was recently diagnosed with early stage Wobbler's and hypothyroidism. As if these two blows were not enough, emotionally and financially, for his Dober-mom, in January, he bloated. Now, Koty's Mom has meticulous plans in effect to prevent bloat - but sometimes it still happens. Koty's Mom, Ava, found herself in the ER, desperately hoping he would pull through - while she wondered how she could possibly pay enough of his bill to be able to take him home. Now Ava doesn't spend her time and money on toys and trips - it all goes to the dogs. She volunteers her hard work and money to Cullen's Archangel Rescue (CARE), Pilots and Paws and Doberman Assistance Network. She does all this while working a full time job and being a foster-mom to animals in need. Ava has truly given all she has to keep her life-saving mission moving forward. Now she needs the help and SND has stepped up to do what we can. Please consider helping Koty in any way you can, no amount is too small. By helping SND keep our vital General Fund alive, we are able to help dogs like Koty, and the countless others who do not yet have their forever home. Please consider making a tax deductible donation by using the PayPal button to the right (declare it a gift to help even more) - or by mailing one in. We, at SND, want to thank you for your continued support of our SNDobies!!!

Zoe!

January, 2013: Meet Miss Zoe! "Zoe" is Greek for "life" and up until now, hers could definitely stand some improving! Her journey has been long - rescued in Taiwan and brought to California to the always open arms of the RescueAngels of Doberman Pinscher Rescue! Hey... you go where there is a crying need and hope that tomorrow brings relief. Wrong on both counts, but for DPR! It's not often they take dogs from Taiwan, but when they're asked to, they do. Large dogs have no room to live there, so if they are owned at all, they're on a 3-foot chain. The local Taiwan rescue organization paid all the costs of flight, crate, medicals, spay, and they do the best they can in a country that isn't domestic-dog friendly. Zoe’s sutures from her surgeries in Taiwan were removed and it was found that one surgery site had not healed at all. It was, in fact, a gaping hole. She was transferred to a foster home to maintain care and hygiene, placed on strong antibiotics, and monitored closely. She still failed to show much healing. Local DPR Vet, Dr. Frier of Camino Animal Hospital, determined that the vet in Taiwan had left a large portion of one tumor in. He said the site would never have healed without additional surgery and that Zoe’s white cell count was very high. She was then adopted fairly quickly - look at that face! But the stars did not align in Taiwan and then CA at first - now... FINALLY, she is safely in the arms of DPR and will be healed while waiting for that special Forever Family!! Please consider helping Miss Zoe and her Angels in any way you can. No amount is too small to help her and SND's vital General Fund. Consider a tax deductible donation via the PayPal button to the right. Label it a gift and help even more! You can also mail one in. As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! 100% of your donations always goes to helping the Dobe you designate such as Miss Zoe! THANK YOU!!

Socrates!

January, 2013 - It is with great sadness that we tell that Senior DobeGent Socrates did not survive his surgery. In the short time he was in loving care he touched the hearts of all who touched him. RIP dear Socrates, you will be missed.
January, 2013: Socrates is indeed a wise old man. He's lived to the grand age of 12 with very little or no veterinary care or human love. He was dropped off (dumped) at a Georgia shelter. At his age and with his numerous health problems, he was not destined to go up for adoption but very likely waiting for his blue cocktail. In stepped Jane Fratesi and her RescueAngels of Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Rescue to save the day. Thanks to ADPR this Dober-gent has a comfy bed next to his Foster-Mom and two Dober-girlies to admire him. This may be the best his life has ever been, sad to say. Before he can look for his forever home, he has a few problems to be dealt with, and SND is joining with ADPR to help meet his needs. Socrates has a heart murmur on both sides of his heart, severe gingivitis, an infected lick granuloma, an ear infection, weakness in his hind legs, a low thyroid - and that's before the results of his heartworm test and other bloodwork. The hind leg weakness does seem to be improving; his other problems are very treatable, this boy could, indeed, have a happy, painfree life ahead. Please consider helping Socrates in any way you can. No amount is too small to help him and SND's vital General Fund. Please consider a tax deductible donation via the PayPal button to the right. Label it a gift and help even more! You can also mail one in. As always, we at SND appreciate your continued support of our SNDobies!!! You do make a difference! 100% of your donations will go to helping this DobeGent! THANK YOU!!
