SND has a large collection of books we will be offering.  Some of these are new and some are previously owned and have been donated to raise funds for Special Needs Dobermans veterinary expenses.  Condition and particulars will be stated in the description.  We have a very large selection of books, journals and magazines that haven't been listed yet - if you don't see what you want or have a particular title in mind - please ask!! "The Doberman Pinscher" by Woodrow Kerfmann. This is a new hardcover, 255 pgs, 6 1/4x9 1/4" format.  This is the 1985 Edition published by T.F.H. Publications which is now out of print. Contains 37 full color photos and 16 Chapters beginning with the Doberman's history in Germany, the United States, Canada and Australia. There are chapters covering purchase, care and training, showing, breeding, genetics and ending with a chapter on diseases and first aid. This is a great book for novices and experienced Doberman fanciers alike and would make a great addition to any Doberman library! Price: $20.00.

"Doberman Pinschers A New Owner's Guide to Doberman Pinschers" by Faye Strauss with Judy Iby for 5 topics.  A new hardcover of the 1998 Edition, 160 pages, 5 3/4x8 3/4" format. Faye and her husband Gary established the Sherluck Doberman line in the 70's and have bred over 100 Champions to date! Faye is a Director on the Board of DPCA and is Chairman of the Judges Education Committee as well as serving as an AKC Judge. "Doberman Pinschers" by Kerry Donnelly. A new hardcover of 192 pages and over 175 full-color illustrations, 14 chapters plus an Index; 5 1/2x8 1/8" format; ©1990 TFH Publications. Starting with history and describing the German, American and British Standards and everything in between including "Dogs and the Law" in the final chapter.  This book has been listed on Amazon for $42 for the paperback version. We also have the ©1994 version, 224 pages in a slightly larger font and new cover; other than style changes the books are otherwise the same. Price: $20.00.

"The Book Of The Doberman Pinscher" by Joan McDonald Brearley. A new hardcover of 576 pages, 5 3/4x8 3/4" format, ©1976 TFH Publications. This book is dedicated to Peggy Adamson who is considered to be the First Lady of Dobermans. There are 25 Chapters plus Index starting with the Doberman's development in Germany and the Doberman as it developed in America and around the world. It contains a wealth of information and photos of people and Dobermans you may recognize or at least whose names with which you're familiar! This older chronicle will have something for everyone and a wealth of history for all. Price: $25.00; used in good condition: $15.00

 

"The Doberman Pinscher, Brains and Beauty" by Rod Humprhies and Joanna Walker. Hardcover of 242 pps, 8.75" square format, ©1999 Howell Book House. Dedicated to "Mrs. Doberman" Peggy Adamson, this title has 15 Chapters, 5 Appendices, Biblio and Index making it an excellent reference book in addition to a wealth of direct information on history, breeding, training, health, showing and care of your Doberman. As described on the jacket, this title gives "potential owners, new converts and veteran Doberman lovers all they need to know about this strong but sensitive companion." Price: $20-25 depending on condition, one has been "tasted" and award the Doberman Seal of Approval, all have their dust jackets!

"Dobermanns, An Owner's Companion" by Mark Ladd. Hardcover of 336 pps, 6.75x9.5" format, ©1989 Crowood Press, England. Over 11 Chapters, the author presents a comprehensive approach to the Dobermann with scientific analyses of several aspects of the breed.  There is an analysis of movement with a sequence of pictures showing the Dobermann in action. Also described is a comparison to Breed Standards of the UK and other countries including the USA. Price: $15 new with dust jacket.
