Sable is a 10 year old, black and rust, natural and docked female who was returned to DRU eight years after being adopted. The reason? The house is too small! We couldn’t believe it. Most people who have lost a dog would give their eye teeth for just one more day with their beloved Doberman. And yet Sable was apathetically dumped for some fabricated non-reason. Something went terribly wrong with this adoption, and we can never make that up to Sable. What we can and will do is make sure the rest of her life is the best it can be. Sable has the biggest, brightest personality. She likes to carry a soft rubber toy in her mouth, especially when she greets you as you enter her room. She's very good-natured with the people she knows. She still dislikes other dogs treading on her territory. She's an awesome girl - you would have no idea she's 10, except the grey around her muzzle. Sable will "sit pretty" on command... basically looks like a "beg". She hangs out with us while we're having lunch and she likes to "talk" to us. She likes to be involved in the conversations, or just get your attention, so she will whisper/talk this soft "rawwhha, rooh, rouw" thing. We like to say she can "speak whale" - if you saw that Disney movie Finding Nemo you'd know what we mean. Are you that special someone that Sable is looking for?
