Tucker's Tale

You may contact Ione directly at adopt@etdr.org. Visit Tucker's web page where you can find a full list of updates and pictures.

"Tucker is a red male doberpuppy, nine months old. He WAS owned by a college student in North Carolina, until this morning. This weekend, however, Tucker was hit by a car and shattered his leg. Tucker's owner did take him to a vet clinic, but instead of letting the vet fix Tucker's leg she told him to either euthanize Tucker or find a new owner for him.

This morning, the vet clinic contacted a doberman owner they knew, to see if they could find help for Tucker. And Christine, the doberman owner, is doing everything she can to get assistance for Tucker. Christine has already accepted ownership of Tucker (temporarily), and has taken him from the original clinic to a referral clinic. He is scheduled for surgery this afternoon. Christine has also agreed to care for Tucker during his rehab period.

BUT -- the surgery costs are estimated at $1600!! Tucker's leg has at least three fractures in it, and will be repaired with at least one plate. Christine has already put down a $400 deposit and worked out a payment plan, but she can NOT afford the full costs of surgery. PLEASE consider helping Tucker to get through this. I have spoken directly with both the clinic workers and Christine, and they all say that Tucker is a wonderfully sweet and friendly dog despite the pain he's in. In fact, every time I talk to the clinic they have to tell me more about how wonderful this dog is. Fortunately, the clinic staff says that he appears to be in good condition except for his broken foreleg. He deserves a chance!

If you are willing to help with Tucker's expenses, please let me know. Christine has already done so much for this guy -- let's help her out!"
