Toby

Toby was rescued from a local High kill shelter after his owner was deployed to Iraq. The Delaware Valley Doberman Pinscher Assistance (DVDPA) Volunteers could not let him die in a shelter while his owner was fighting a war. Toby tipped the scales at 150 pounds, He was a hairless Doberman that they soon found out had an infection in his system. He is very sweet and docile and his foster home just loves him. Even days when he is not feeling so good, he is still waging his stubby tail. He has needed to be hospitalized twice over the last month because of an infection in his system that had elevated his liver. That was when they found protein in his urine and the results came back showing a VERY high blood count with elevated liver functions. He also has thyroid problems so they increased his Thyroid meds to 1.3. DVDPA is still trying to find out the real underlying problem that is creating his other levels to increase and creating recurring infections. The good news is he has is losing weight and his hair is starting to grow back. The bad news is more testing and treatments to get him into good health. One hospital wanted over 1800.00 to treat him. DVDPA is working with a vet that is giving us a discount but fundraising is needed to help him. Toby is a spunky friendly big boy when he is feeling good. We hope to give him the opportunities to enjoy better days with better health and days filled with lots of love.
