Say Hi to Spike!

Help Spike!

Spike's story is as follows. The Petys family has had Spike since he was a puppy and just can't imagine our life without him. Saturday, March 8th Spike was fine, eating well, and playing. Sunday they noticed he wouldn't eat and that he was lifting his leg to pee but nothing was coming out. So Monday, the 10th he was loaded into the car and off to the vet. The vet did x-rays and came back and said any chance of saving Spike required surgery fast to remove stones from his bladder -- no waiting.

The Petys have paid $200 of the vet bill so far. They had been saving that money to get Red's teeth fixed. Red is their other Dobe whom they adopted from the Collier County Domestic Animal Services in November. He was a rescue dog and someone had filed down his teeth. You can see in the picture below his teeth are stubbed and all the scars on his face. Red was very upset while Spike was at the vets. When Spike got home they put their heads together and kissed each other.

Please do what you can to help this sweet boy! We are asking for monetary donations, auction items, and any other assistance you can offer. If you would like to make a donation towards Spikes's recovery, you can use the PayPal buttons on this page, or you can mail us a donation. Also remember to check our Current Auctions page to see items we're auctioning off on eBay to raise money for Spike and our other Dobes with special needs. As always, no donation is too small! Please oh please don't sit on five dollars because you think it is too small, it isn't! Thank you!

The latest report from Keri, Spikes "mom" is as follows: "They checked to see his blood levels to see if he was anemic b/c he lost a lot of blood. His level was at 35% percent and the doc said that is fine. As soon as we walked out of the office he had a very long pee. There was still lots of blood in it but the vet said it will be like that for a couple of more days. I got him home and he had to pee some more. Since he can't really have a both my daughter and I gave him a little sponge bath b/c he had a lot of blood on him from the catheter being pulled. He also ate some chicken breast!!!!!! He hasn't eaten hardly anything! The doc said to fix chicken (skinless boneless breast) and some rice. My husband did that but Spike wasn't in the mood to eat. But boy was he hungry just now ! He has lost 10 pounds since Monday."
