Serena
Serena is a 7 year old rescue dobe who was adopted by Julie in Florida almost 3 years ago. She was incontinent and turned into animal control because her former owners no longer wanted her. Julie and Serena share their home with a 4 year old male Dobe. Serena had been loosing weight and it became apparent that she was having a problem when a blood test performed in January revealed that she had a high calcium count, but she was not diagnosed with Para-Thyroid disease until late September when her Julie finally was able to come up with money for further testing. This is a precancerous condition that will progress to cancer if not treated in the near future. With timely surgery (removal of the thyroid gland) the prognosis is good. Julie was recently divorced and her financial situation is not good. She needs assistance to see that Serena receives her surgery in a timely manner.
