Samantha

Samantha is a 7 - 8 month old red female with natural ears and a docked tail. Samantha was pulled from the LA-SPCA shelter in New Orleans in April of 2005 when her time was up and the shelter became full. Shortly after being rescued Samantha began having a discharge which changed colors over the next few days from clear to yellowish/green and then bloody. She also developed a low-grade fever. Samantha’s foster mom contacted GCDR on May 4 and was told to bring her in to the vet for evaluation. She was immediately placed on antibiotics hoping to control infection but a day later an ultra sound revealed a problem with her original shelter spay. Samantha was diagnosed with Stump Pyometra and the doctor strongly recommended a re-spay to stop the infection and save her life. She was spayed a second time on May 6, 2005. Since her re-spay, Samantha has done very well and is expected to make a complete recovery.
