Ruby

Ruby is an 8 year old black/tan Doberman. She has developed a major infection in a front foot
(origin unknown). The owners tried treating it topically themselves over time. It seemed to get
better then get worse -- the toe nail would fall out then re-grow. The last few days the condition
has escalated and the owners have desperately looked for financial assistance to get the condition
treated professionally. Finally, a local group (Animal Welfare League) paid to have the foot diagnosed.
The vet said that gangreen had set in and two toes should be amputated. Additionally, she has an
abcessed tooth. The vet is worried that the liver and/or the kidneys may have been affected by the
infection. Ruby needs bloodwork to access the damage the infection has caused to her system and surgeries for
her foot and tooth.
