Rocky

Rocky is a sweet 9 year old red docked and cropped Doberman. SND first met Rocky after he was rescued
from a cruelty case and in the custody of Greyhounds Galore in Macon, GA. After Rocky completed his
heartworm treatment, he was adopted by Jennifer in Woodstock, GA. She took him to her vet for an exam
and learned that he had a number of health issues that needed attention. The issues would cost more
money that she had, and she called Greyhounds Galore to return him. She learned that if he was
returned, he would be euthanized as unadoptable. She contacted Treasured Angels of Georgia Rescue for
assistance and agreed to foster or hospice Rocky if help was available.
Rocky was taken to Town and Country Vet Clinic for an EKG to make sure that his heart would be strong enough to undergo
the surgery that he needed to extract several bad teeth, clean his remaining teeth, and remove a
couple of tumors – one on his eyelid and another on his foot. Dr. Good did not feel comfortable
performing surgery without an ultrasound, bloodwork and chest x-ray in addition to the EKG. SND was
contacted for assistance so that Rocky could receive all of the tests that he needed while he was at
the vets. Everyone was in agreement that if the results showed that Rocky could undergo the surgery,
to go ahead and get it taken care of.
Rocky had the surgery to remove 6 bad teeth and the two tumors. Dr. Good does feel that he is in the
early stages of Cardio, but that the teeth presented a greater risk to his over all health than the
surgery would. Unfortunately, during surgery, it was learned that Rocky has Von Willebrands disease.
Laser surgery was performed to remove the tumors, but could not be used to extract the teeth. Rocky had
a great deal of bleeding from his mouth and spent the next 3 days hospitalized. Thankfully, Dr. Good was
able to control the bleeding and assuming there are no more complications, Rocky should have at worst
several months and possibly a couple of years to enjoy his new life. He has been released and is now
home with Jennifer. She says that his energy level is low, but he is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping, and
seems very happy to finally have a soft place to rest his head.
Dr. Good did not increase Rocky's estimate after it was discovered that he has Von Willebrands, but
the surgery bill needs to be paid. You can mail us a donation or use the
