Porsche!
Porsche is a 9 year old female Doberman owned and loved by Mary Askew in Phoenixville, PA. On March 4, Porsche began acting strangely. She started going to the bathroom in the house. She acted in an erratic manner, almost disoriented and was extremely hyper and agitated. Porsche was taken to the vet where they ran a full panel of blood tests. Before the test were back, Porsche had to see the emergency vet on March 7. Her back legs had given way and she began having tremors. The emergency vet did an EKG, stomach X-ray, and more blood work. The bloodwork and stomach X-ray showed no abnormalities. They recommended keeping her on a bland diet and Pepcid AC for another couple of days, consider cardiac ultrasound, and if neurological signs persist, consult with a neurologist.
The next day, Porsche was still hyper, panting and pacing. On March 9, she had a seizure at about 1:00 AM. So Porsche made another trip to the emergency vet. This time a neurologist was called in and a MRI scheduled. In between the scheduling and the MRI, Porsche has had several seizures. Fortunately, the results of the MRI were good - no brain tumor was found, and Porsche was diagnosed with mid-life onset of epilepsy. She has started medication, and will remain with the vet for observation. It is hoped that she can return home March 10th. We will be updating this page as soon as we get word about this poor girl.
