Penny

SND first came to know Penny as Chayane, when she was taken on as an abuse case.
Penny is now in the care of Dale Maddox in NC. With GREAT difficultly, Dale managed to get possession of
Chayane from her previous owner. At that point SND considered the case closed since we all thought that
the leg issues were resolved. Also, we were hoping that the controversy surrounding the prior treatment of
Chayane would die down so ownership could be transfered to Dale's rescue operation. To help with leaving
that chapter of her life behind her, she is now known as Penny.
As it has turned out, Penny has had a very difficult time with her broken leg because of low bone mass
(the result of previous poor nutrition). The vet has had to change the pin and adjust the pin. Dale
has worked diligently to provide very close supervision of Penny during her protracted recovery and to
provide the nutrition that she had lacked. Penny is now getting to the stage where she can begin looking
for a forever home. Penny is still incurring vet bills and currently has an outstanding bill of
approximately $250. While Dale has absorbed most of the recent vet bills (such as the bloat emergency)
she has requested help with the remaining bills associated with Penny's previous injuries.
