Dobes helped from July - September, 2003
Thanks for taking a moment to read about some of the Doberman lives SND has been fortunate enough to help. The links below will take you to the pages that contain pictures and stories about our SNDobes. The stories have been split up into separate pages to make them easy to download (that's good, it means we have helped lots of Dobes!). Please remember to read our Currently In Need page for Dobes that need help now (there are Dobes there that will come to this list when we're done helping them).

Jupiter!
December, 2003
Jupiter is a 10 year old male Doberman who has been with his mom, Millie,
since he was 6 weeks old. They live in Los Angeles, CA. Jupiter
developed a huge growth on his left front leg, which required surgery
to remove. His mom, Millie is a senior citizen on a fixed income, and could
not afford the surgery. Jupiter received the help he needed via
IMOM and SND.
You can learn more about Jupiter on
Jupiter's Page.
Adam!
December, 2003
Adam is a young male Doberman who was born with a genetic condition causing
patellar luxation, a painful and restrictive condition in his knees. He requires
two separate surgeries (one for each knee) to correct the problem. He had
his first surgery on December 10, with the help of SND, and will have his
second early next year, courtesy of his rescuers at
Illinois
Doberman Rescue. You can learn more about Adam on
Adam's Page.
Bailey!
December, 2003
Bailey is a 7 month old Doberman in the care of
Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue. He was taken to the vet to be neutered
just after coming into the program, and he began to hemorage. It was determined
that Bailey's pac cell count is below normal and he may be vWD positive.
He received a transfusion and recovered afterward. He has
since been adopted. You can learn more about Bailey on
Bailey's Page.
Danny!
Danny
November, 2003
is a young (about 1 year old) black/tan natural eared Dobe who came to
our friends at Doberman
Assistance, Rescue & Education from the shelter after his 3rd
home(!). He was already thin and had a case of worms when he suddenly
began throwing up. After a few days of tests and examinations, his condition
began to be life threatening. Exploratory surgery turned up a slight
inflamation in a small section of intestine, but this was not enough
to cause his deteriorating condition. He started to show signs of improvement
after the surgery, but the cause of his problem is still being investigated.
Happily, Danny has not had problems since. Please visit Danny's
Page for more details and pictures.
Shanna!
November, 2003
Shanna is an 8 year old Doberman living in New York with her "mom", Nancy
Hassell, and her "brother" Max. She was diagnosed with synovial
cell sarcoma on her right front wrist. She required amputation in order
to prevent the spread of the cancer and continue leading the happy life
that she knows. Nancy, Shanna's owner was out of work for more than a
year following September 11, and could not afford dear Shanna's surgery.
Shanna breezed through her surgery and is now doing everything she ever did!
You can learn more
on Shanna's Page.
Heather!
November, 2003
A Rottie rescue person was at the shelter, when she saw a Doberman that was
about to be turned in. The Doberman was suffering from the worst case of mange
that she had ever seen. The lady took pity on the Dobe, now known as Heather,
and put out a plea for help. Through a chain of events, and a lot of caring
people, Heather is now safe at
Redland Rescue . Money was raised to
treat her mange and restore her health. You can read the Heather's full
story Heather's Page.
Elle!
November 2003
Elle is a 3 year old black female in foster care with
Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue. On the night of September 4th,
this adorable youngster needed emergency obstruction surgery to
save her life. The surgery went well and she has now recovered.
You can read more of her story on Elle's Page.
Mercedes!
November 2003
Mercedes is a sweet and lovable black dobergirl owned by the Kniebes
family in Lafayette, CO. Mercedes needed emergency surgery for an
intestinal blockage. In surgery it was determined that
she ingested two large wads of paper towels! Mercedes' family was unable
to pay for her surgery, as they are still in debt for another surgery that was
performed last year, they were, however excellent fundraisers and raised
most of the needed contributions thorough their own effors, using SND as
a tool of help. You can read more about Mercedes on Mercedes' Page.
