List Of SNDobes Helped

Dobes helped from July - September, 2004

Thanks for taking a moment to read about some of the Doberman lives SND has been fortunate enough to help. The links below will take you to the pages that contain pictures and stories about our SNDobes. The stories have been split up into separate pages to make them easy to download (that's good, it means we have helped lots of Dobes!). Please remember to read our Currently In Need page for Dobes that need help now (there are Dobes there that will come to this list when we're done helping them).

Roady
July, 2004

Roady is a handsome red male Doberman in the care of Second Chance Dobes in Clinton, MI. Roady had been hit by a car, suffering a broken leg, split tongue and broken teeth. His owners dumped him at a vet clinic in Ohio because they did not want him anymore. Second Chance Dobes came to the rescue, paying his vet bills in Ohio, and then bringing him back to MI for more treatment. The are requesting help with Roady's remaining vet bills, as they have been hit very hard with heartworm positive dogs and special needs cases. Learn more about this adorable boy at Roady's Page!

Bria
July, 2004

Cindy rescued Bria, a 6 month old female Doberman off the streets of Watts, CA. She is very sweet and affectionate. She is small for her age which the vet says is due to malnutrition. Bria was initially seen by Dr. Omoto of Village Pet Clinic in Redondo Beach - the exam revealed that Bria has a broken hip -- probably hit by a car at some point in the past. Then she was seen by Dr. Schlanger of Brentair Animal Hospital and finally by Dr. Leeds (an orthopedic surgeon). Dr. Leeds says that the window of opportunity for surgery has long closed. She will need specialized nutrition, supplements, and 10 sessions of hydrotherapy to strengthen her hip - at $45 - $65 per session. Please visit Bria's page to read more about this sweet Dobe!

Blitz
July, 2004

Blitz is a handsome two year old male Doberman in the care of Doberman Rescue of Colorado. Blitz had collided with a fence, severely injuring two of his legs. His owners were prepared to put him down when the vet made a call to Rescue. Fortunately, Chuck Vaile and his rescue group felt Blitz was worth saving! You can learn more on Blitz's Page.

Scooby
July, 2004

Scooby is a lovable young red Doberman. He lived the first year or so of his life in a junkyard, and then escaped that life to roam the streets of Staten Island for months! Finally, he found his forever home with Joanne in NJ. Scooby has developed a massive lick granuloma on his left rear leg. It had gotten so bad that there was a loss of circulation at times, infections, and amputation appeared imminent. Joanna learned of an alternate laser treatment that has shown great success in cases similar to Scooby's. She sprang for the first treatment at $880, but he will need seven follow-ups at around $100 each, and her funds are exhausted. You can learn more on Scooby's Page.

Romeo
July, 2004

Romeo was an adorable 4 month old pup in the care of Doberman Rescue of Colorado when we first met him. Romeo had swallowed a rock, and needed obstruction surgery to remove it! We're very happy to report that he came through with flying colors and has resumed his life as a happy, rambunctious Dobe puppy! You can see more pictures of this precious pup on on Romeo's Page.

Porsche
July, 2004

Porsche is a 9 year old female Doberman owned and loved by Mary Askew in Phoenixville, PA. On March 4, Porsche began acting strangely - going to the bathroom inside, hyperactivity, panting, and displaying general agitation. Then, several frightening seizures occurred. A number of tests have been performed, and the initial diagnosis is mid-life onset of epilepsy. She has started medication, and hopefully this will get Porsche back to her happy, love filled life! The medical bills mounted though, and SND was there to help. Thanks everyone! You can read more about her on Porsche's Page.

Fawn
July, 2004

Fawn is a gorgeous red girl, loved and cared for by Carla Rogers and family in Virginia. Carla adopted Fawn as a senior in 2001. After coexisting very well with the other family Dobes, a fight occurred between Fawn and another one of their Dobergirls. Since June of 2003, Fawn has been showing disturbing signs of nerve problems in the lower half of her body. An MRI confirmed that she has a compressed disk and she is scheduled for surgery. You can read more about her on Fawn's Page.

Storm
July, 2004

Storm is a handsome young Doberman in the care of Hand Me Down Dobes in Columbus, OH. He was diagnosed with Wobbler's and required surgery to put him on the path toward being the happy and active young Doberman that he deserves to be. You can learn more about Storm on Storm's Page. He is doing well, thanks to the help of a lot of caring people. Your help was very much appreciated!

Rocky
July, 2004

Rocky was a handsome 6 1/2 year old male Doberman living in Reading, PA with his "mom", Sandy, her son, dad, his littermate, Hercules, Aisha, a Bouvier/Rott mix, and 4 senior cats. Rocky is a much loved member of this family. Recently Rocky was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He needed radiation and chemotherapy to arrest the cancer that threatened him. We inform you with heavy heart that Rocky has lost his battle. You can learn more on Rocky's Page. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation in memory of Rocky. It can be mailed in, or you can use the PayPal button below to donate online.

Zeuss
August, 2004

Zeus was a one year old red male Doberman living in Cincinnati, OH with the Miller family, including six children. He was a sweet boy and a constant companion to the kids. Zeus developed a huge rapidly gowning tumor on the side of his neck. Sadly, the tumor was found to be more severe than hoped, and Zeuss was lost in surgery. Our most sincere sympathies are extended to the Miller family at this sad time. You may visit Zuess' Page to learn more.

Ben
August, 2004

Ben is a wonderful seven year senior male Dobe who has had a very sad, neglected life up to now. He was rescued by the great people at Doberman Rescue of North Carolina. This fawn boy had been living outside in a 6' square, concrete floored pen. He came to DRNC very malnourished and in bad shape. The worst of his problems is a very severe heartworm infestation. Treatment is going to be very tricky and even though he is now in the most loving hands you could ask for, he is not out of danger by any means. You can read more about this senior boy in need on Ben's Page!

Keno
August, 2004

Keno is a handsome red doberpup, approximately 1 year old, in the care of Doberman Rescue of Minnesota. He was turned into rescue after being hit by a car and breaking both his front legs and suffering a crushed lumbar vertebrae. He's a fighter, though, and needs your help with his surgery and recovery. You can read more about this sweet boy on Keno's Page.

Moose
August, 2004

Moose is a 2-3 year black and tan neutered male Doberman in the care of Doberman Rescue Group of Oklahoma. This goofy cross-eyed boy is in a foster home that he shares with cats and dogs (of varying breeds and sexes). He gets along with all of his foster siblings. Please help Kira by making a tax-deductible donation. One morning Moose was let outside while his foster mom got ready for work. When she went to let him in 10 minutes later, Moose did not come when called. To her horror, Moose was in the neighbor's yard and his leg was being chewed off by an intact Pit Bull. It is believed that Moose stood up at the fence and was dragged into the yard by his arm, based on the appearance of the fence and Moose's gentle demeanor. After the dogs were separated Moose was rushed to the vet and his leg had to be amputated. He also had to be stitched up from multiple lacerations. Please visit Moose's Page to learn more.

Elvis
August, 2004

Marty Young with North West Doberman Rescue has come to us with a request for assistance. Elvis is a 3-4 year old blue rescue male whose eye has been injured sometime in the past. As a result, Elvis is blind in that eye, the eyeball has shrunken in size and no longer fits the socket. It is painful and subject to infection. The vets recommend removal of the eyeball. Please visit Elvis' Page for more info and to see some pictures of this fine boy.

Star
August, 2004

Star was a 14 year old female Dobe belonging to Liz DeAguirre in Minnesota. Star recently underwent an operation to have a tumor removed from her leg which amounted to $750. She was on thyroid medication and anti-inflammatory med for arthritis. Liz had worked out a payment plan with the vet for the operation but now could not afford Star's medication. Liz is disabled and on a VERY small fixed income. She asked for assistance to pay for the medications. Sadly, Star became unresponsive and the decision was made to send her to the Bridge on August 21. Please visit Star's Page to learn more and see her memorial.

Duke of Troy
August, 2004

Duke of Troy was a 10 year old red male Doberman living in Colorado with his owner, Troy. Two years ago Duke was diagnosed with early stage DCM. Recently Duke had a scary episode which required a trip to the emergency vet. It has been determined that the DCM is becoming progressively worse. Troy does not have the money to pay the emergency bill and cover the meds that Duke needed. Sadly, Duke lost his battle with Cardio. Please visit Duke of Troy's Page to read more about him.

Lola
September, 2004

Atlanta Pet Rescue took in a 4-5 year old red female Dobe named Lola from the Cherokee Animal Control. She was under-nourished and heartworm positive. They will have her spayed and vaccinated after she's completed her heartworm treatments. Their vet is willing to do the treatments for $130. Atlanta Pet Rescue is a small organization and their vet bills are pilling up so they asked SND for assistance. We made a one-time payment for Lola's treatment - the poor girl needed a helping hand. Atlanta Pet Rescue will find a good home for Lola when she is healthy.

Remember, as the song says... "Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets."
