Dobes helped from July - September, 2003
Thanks for taking a moment to read about some of the Doberman lives SND has been fortunate enough to help. The links below will take you to the pages that contain pictures and stories about our SNDobes. The stories have been split up into separate pages to make them easy to download (that's good, it means we have helped lots of Dobes!). Please remember to read our Currently In Need page for Dobes that need help now (there are Dobes there that will come to this list when we're done helping them).

Ruby J!
September 2003
Ruby J. is a 2.5 year old rescue Doberman owned by Jill Jaluvka. Ruby has been
diagnosed with hypermature cataracts. This condition has caused her to lose
all vision except the ability to know day from night. The vet has determined that
she is a perfect candidate for phacoemulsification cataract removal and
intraocular lens implantation. This procedure will restore her vision and give
her a better quality of life. Before coming to SND, Jill did a great deal of
fundraising on her own, and had raised $1000 of the $1250 needed for the surgery. Unfortunately, she had
to dip into it when a foster, Zoe, came in heartworm positive. Zoe has since, been
adopted by Jill, also. We assisted in the fundraising for Ruby J.'s surgery and
are very happy to report that Ruby's vision has been restored! You can learn more
on Ruby J's Page.

Angel
is a sweet 5 year old red Doberman who lives in Fort Worth, Texas with
her family including a 13 month old baby girl that she adores. Angel hurt
her leg when getting back in the car after a routine trip to the vet's
office. Her mom, Kim, took Angel back into the vet's
office, but at the time her leg was not thought to be seriously hurt. As
time went on, however, the leg did not improve, and Angel stopped putting
weight on the leg. Further diagnostics revealed that Angel had torn the
ACL in her back leg! Surgery is required to repair the leg -- the only
other option would be to amputate. Needless to say, that's not an option.
We are happy to report that Angel received her surgery and is now living
the happy and pain free life she deserves. Please visit Angel's Page for more details,
updates and pictures.
Bowie
is a 4 1/2 year old black and tan male Dobie, best friend of SND member Kim
Somjen. He has had continual problems with hernias, and needs yet more surgery
to help correct the problem. This isn't his first surgery or even his second!
He also has a lipoma that definitely needs removing. Overall, it's safe to say
that Bowie is having a rough New Year. We are asking for you to help us with
his treatment and recovery! Kim is in vet school, studying to be a vet for our
friends in the future. After many twist, turns, and trials, Bowie is finally on the
mend. You can read more about Bowie as well as see more
pictures of the boy on Bowie's Page.
Cole!
August, 2003
Cole is a neutered male, albino Doberman who was surrendered by his
owner to a Seattle shelter. An adoption was in progress when a shelter visitor
noticed that Cole's rear leg was swollen to five times its normal size. The
shelter contacted
Compassioned Animal Rescue and Education - C.A.R.E. on Cole's behalf. Surgery
was rendered to save his leg, probably saving his life at the same time. The vet
gave the rescue group a generous discount, but because they have faced so many
life-threatening emergencies recently, they have incurred some very large bills.
Money was raised for Cole's surgery, and he is now on the mend and
almost as good as new! He has also been adopted by a loving family. You
can learn more about him on Cole's Page.

Flame!
August, 2003
Flame is a 4 year old red Dobergirl in GA, who was dumped after her "parents" got a
divorce. Flame has returned to SND following surgery in April
for gold bead implants for Wobbler's Disease. Her recovery has not gone as smoothly
as was hoped for and she is now "wobbling" again, and showing signs of
obvious pain. Dr. Durkes has been consulted and has recommended a course of
acupuncture treatments. Flame saw the acupunture doctor and her neck was
re-wrapped. She has made a drastic improvement and continues to improve. You can learn more
on Flame's Page.
Koko! Koko is a 2.5 year old red Dobergirl, recently adopted by SND member,
Mary Lynn Bushong. Koko's current weight is guessimated to be about
40-45 lbs. She is little more than a bone rack due to an untreated
kidney problem. Mary Lynn has enlisted the help of a homeopath in making
nutritional choices for Koko, but she also needs tests to insure that she
continues on the road to good health. You can learn
more on Koko's Page.

Soltin! Soltin is a 3 - 4 year old black/tan male, who did his share
of moving about before finding his forever home. Once settled
in, he gobbled up a mechanic's rag that lodged in his stomach.
Soltin required emergency surgery to remove the rag. SND was
pleased to be able to offer assistance to this fine boy.
You can read his full story on Soltin's Page |

Muggsy! SND learned of Muggsy through a letter from a kind hearted person in
New York. Muggsy was living life in the basement of a grocery store, and
totally dependant on the kind stranger to visit and feed her. She was almost
deaf from an untreated ear infection. SND was glad to be able to help
in referring the information to a rescue group, who took possession of
Muggsy, and got her to a vet. SND covered treatment for her ear infection and
skin disorders. To learn more, please visit
Muggsy's Page.
July, 2003
R.J.! Dale Geddis-Maddox from the Senior Doberman Project, received a
request from a lady in SC who has a senior she can no longer care for.
The woman is absolutely destitute. In order to place the senior in a
rescue program she must have a growth on her leg checked out. Dale has
negotiated an excellent price at a local vet clinic to do the biopsy and
has arranged for CaraDobe Rescue group to take 10 year old RJ if the
tumor in not cancerous. SND made the payment to the vet so that
R.J.'s biopsy could be done. Thankfully, the biopsy came back negative.
Dale, again, negotiated with her heart, and was able to get a very low price for
getting the growth removed and necessary prep shots to make R.J. placeable.
SND covered these expenses so that she can now be adopted to a loving family.
