Dobes helped in 2001
Thanks for taking a moment to read about some of the Doberman lives SND has been fortunate enough to help. The links below will take you to the pages that contain pictures and stories about our SNDobes. The stories have been split up into separate pages to make them easy to download (that's good, it means we have helped lots of Dobes!). Please remember to read our Currently In Need page for Dobes that need help now.

Amy
Wukotich from Illinois
Doberman Rescue brought Arrow to our attention in August of 2001. Arrow
was seriously injured and his owners were nowhere to be found. Here is what
happened to Arrow as told by Amy:
"I'm writing to tell you all about Arrow (as in broken arrow). It is assumed that Arrow was hit by a car sometime last Wednesday night. Someone thankfully called animal control, who then called us. His femur was badly fractured with his bone in literally 2 separate pieces. When I looked at the x-ray, I wished I hadn't. While animal control must hold most strays for 7 days, in the case of a severe injury requiring immediate medical attention they can transfer the dog to someone who will be responsible for treatment or euthanise to end the suffering." ..... read the full Arrow story along with other photos and updates on his progress!
Ione
Smith of East
Tennessee Doberman Rescue brought Tucker to our attention
in November of 2001. While Tucker is doing better, he is still in need of help!
You may contact Ione directly at adopt@etdr.org.
Visit Tucker's
web page where you can find a full list of updates and pictures.
"Tucker is a red male doberpuppy, nine months old. He WAS owned by a college student in North Carolina, until this morning. This weekend, however, Tucker was hit by a car and shattered his leg. Tucker's owner did take him to a vet clinic, but instead of letting the vet fix Tucker's leg she told him to either euthanize Tucker or find a new owner for him."..... here is the full story of Tucker with photos and information on how you can help.
Justice
(a.k.a. Broken Leg Boy)
December, 2001
Justice
was brought to our attention by Colleen, one of our friends Doberman
Assistance Rescue & Education (DAR&E).
"On Friday, Sept 14, a DAR&E volunteer went to the Prince George's County MD shelter to pick up three Dobes and was told of a young male that had been brought in with a possible gunshot wound to the leg.......On Sat, the Dog Intake Coordinator called to check on the dog and was told that the wound had mostly healed but he was holding his leg up. So we made arrangements to pick him up Monday and take him straight to one of our vets....... Dr Luce, at Aldie Vet in South Riding, Va, took radiographs and advised us that it was not a gunshot wound but a pretty typical hit-by-car broken leg. (It had been a compound fracture and the wound that the shelter saw was where the bone had poked thru) An orthopedic specialist was called in and options were given and we chose to have the orthopedic vet, Dr Langenbach, plate the leg to give this young boy the best chance of recovery."...
Please visit Justice's page on the DAR&E web site to get the latest information about his recovery and how you can make a donation to help him.
Please consider helping the Dobes that we will find in the future. You can make a donation to our General Fund by using the PayPal Donation link below, or you can mail us a donation directly. Donations to this fund will be used as 'seed' money for new SND cases as we find out about them. By helping us with the General Fund, you will make sure that SND is able to send money to help Dobes with emergency needs and to get the ball rolling on our more expensive cases. No donation is too small and every bit helps. Thank you!!
