Maya

Maya is a sweet little Dobergirl approximately 3 years old. She was found as a stray in Maryland and brought to the local shelter where Doberman Assistance, Rescue & Education (DARE) was contacted and she was placed in a foster home. In addition to coming in heartworm positive and requiring treatment for that, after about 3 weeks she developed Pyometra, which is a potentially life-threatening uterine infection. With her heart weakened by the heartworms, dehydration, and the infection spreading through her system, there was concern as to her ability to even withstand the surgery. Surgery took several hours and she spent the next two days and nights in intensive care.

Since a rescue group's funds are always severely limited, help is needed to cover Maya's extensive medical bills. She is doing well now and will be ready soon to be adopted to a loving family.
