Lamar

SND first learned of Lamar when someone posted his picture to the SND Cafe Yahoo Group. He was in a Georgia shelter and his time was up in a couple of days! One of our Northern Rescuers agreed to take him into their program and he was pulled by Jane, a shelter volunteer.

Lamar is an adorable little black/rust male, approximately 1 year old. When Jane pulled him from the shelter he was immediately taken to the vet. He weighed in at only 41 lbs (approximately 15 lbs underweight), had kennel cough, and an injured foot. Initially when he was in the shelter, the foot problem was thought to be a cut or bruised pad, but the vet exam revealed that it was an old injury. His leg has started to atrophy because he has not used it in so long. The vet feels that he may need to amputate, but wants to do x-rays to determine the best course of treatment and to see if it will be possible to save the leg. Jane decided that since Lamar has special medical needs, it will be best for him to stay in GA and receive the treatment that he needs. She has requested help with the x-rays and future treatment. She will be fostering him after she returns from visiting family at Christmas. In the meantime, Lamar is being temp fostered by Mickey, an area rescuer. Mickey says that Lamar is a complete love and follows her everywhere. Lamar and Mickey's pit bull mix, Petey are becoming best of friends and he seems very grateful to be out of the shelter. Now he needs our help! You can mail us a donation or use the PayPal button below if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation for Lamar. We thank you for any contribution that you can spare!
