Koko!

|
SND member Mary Lynn Bushong has agreed to adopt a new Dobie,
Koko and has requested some SND assistance with the medical bills
to get Koko restored to good health.
Koko is a 2 1/2 year old, red, 24", spayed, dober girl. Her
current weight is guessimated to be about 40-45 lbs. She is
little more than a bone rack due to an untreated kidney problem.
Her former owner lost her job and was facing a move with multiple
dogs to a new area. Since Koko was the youngest, she decided to
try and place her dobe with a family who would love her and care
for her permanently or as a foster, until a better placement came
along. She was most concerned that her girl get a loving, indoor
home. She tried making up a home made diet but had no recipe to
go by, and Koko didn't do really well on it. Mary Lynn brought
her home and began giving her small meals every 2-3 hours. She
switched her to a raw diet, and is working with her homeopath,
Magda Aguila, who is also very knowledgeable about nutrition.
They have already started homeopathic treatments and Koko has gone
from pacing through the house constantly to being able to settle
and focus her mind on things. She's a very sweet girl, with no
vices other than some food aggression which can be controlled.
Magda thinks that they can turn her around and have her fit in a
reasonable amount of time, possibly 6 months.
Mary Lynn is asking for help to cover the costs of blood work for
Koko, now and in 3 months, to track her progress. She has never
been tested for thyroid problems so she wishes to have that
included this time, in addition to some reimbursement to the
homeopath for her time in consulting on Koko's case and the
remedies.
The cost for a full thyroid panel and super chem together will be
$111.25 plus the $29 office visit. The diagnostic test the second
time would be $52.00. This will be paid through the SND General
Fund. To help replenish the general fund, Mary Lynn has several
more boxes to paint which she would be glad to donate for
auctioning. She is also working on some dober figures which she
plans to offer for auction. These things should more than cover
any costs that might be incurred on her behalf. This is also a
wonderful example of someone working to help their own Dobe, and others
at the same time!
