Ivan

Ivan was a sweet little 1 year old red doberboy in a Georgia shelter. He was scheduled to go to Recycled Dobermans Rescue group in Pennsylvania, though coordination with Atlanta rescuers. Just hours before his scheduled pick-up, rescue got a call from the shelter. Ivan had been attacked by the other dogs in his run and was severely injured. The Atlanta rescuer immediately rushed to the shelter for him and took him to the vet. He suffered multiple puncture wounds and had lost a great deal of blood. He was severely dehydrated and his body temperature was down to 91 degrees! SND was contacted for assistance. Ivan's wounds were treated and he was given IV's and antibiotics then released for the night to rescue. His temp foster mom continued the IV treatments, but Ivan quietly slipped away. Everyone involved in the rescue effort is devastated! So close to getting out and having the life he was meant to have, only to be snatched away far too soon. At least he did not die in a cold frightening shelter, but in the loving care of the rescue group, and with the medical attention that we hoped would save his life. Although Ivan didn't make it, his bills still need to be paid.
