Meet Miss Hailey!!

Miss Hailey is getting that glow!!

MAY 2, 2010: Remember little Hailey? Found as a stray in WV on Christmas Eve with a badly broken leg. Sue stepped in and rescued her in February and had the needed surgery done on her broken leg. She is now with a foster family, but in early April, new complications kept her from going to her forever home. It seems her leg was bending backwards and she was not able to bear weight on it. She went to see a specialist and although amputation was a consideration, the surgeon offered another solution. All Hailey wants to do is run and play like any normal doberkid, lets see if we can help this little girl get her life back! This latest surgery promises to do just that! Let's pitch in and continue to support DDRI's efforts to see this through! THANKS!!

A bath, a bandage change and LOTS of love will do that to a DobeGirl!!

My name was Doberman Doe - now I'm B.A.D. Born Again Doberman, Miss Hailey!!
Shortly after this picture I was on my way to heaven with Sue, my own Dobe Angel!!

Say Hello to Hailey! Look at that beautiful yet so pitiful face! We don't know much about Hailey, accept that she was found as a stray in West Virginia with a broken leg. She was picked up Christmas Eve and called "injured dobe" - a Doberman Doe. She languished in this kill shelter with no vet care, no love and no attention for a week. It was thought that she was hit by a car, but no one knows for sure. She was finally transferred to a vet to splint her leg December 30, 2009. But, she needed more than a splint, her leg needed to be pinned and plated, which was not done until January 19th after the shelter received a request from a rescue organization to have the surgery and spay done. The spay was not done until January 29th because it could not be done at the same time as the leg surgery. Her leg was re-splinted at the time of the spay.

When found by D.A.N. on February 2nd, she was still waiting for the first rescue who spoke up for her to come and pick her up, which never happened. The shelter was left with a very high vet bill for Hailey. After almost 2 months of pain and lack of attention... finally, good news ! Sue Szyklinski from Distinguished Doberman Rescue, Inc. in PA drove for hours with a huge storm approaching and rescued this beautiful girl. Sue had her own veterinarian evaluate Miss Hailey - x-rays were done and her leg seems to be healing well. The bones that were broken are the radius and ulna, but at the bottom of those large bones where our wrist would be. Some of the small bones in the wrist area are also broken leaving little pieces of bone floating around. Consequently she will more than likely always have a stiff gait and will be on anti-inflammatories for life with arthritis developing as she ages. But, she will be able to walk and that is wonderful. The pin will need to stay in place due to it's placement and the broken pieces that surround the end of the pin. She got her vaccines, was microchipped and got a HW test, which was negative! A big HOORAY!!

Sue says she is coming out of her shell and she is sleeping on her couch during the day and in Sue's bed at night! Of course where else would a doberman sleep!!?? I am sure she thinks this is Heaven after sleeping on a cold, hard floor in a shelter! The vet says she is about 2 years old and they can see a playful side of her that wants to break out but she is restricted by her leg being in a cast. Just wait until that cast comes off...... LOOK OUT! She is an absolute sweetheart and gets along great with all the other dogs at Sue's house.

Please look into those beautiful eyes and do whatever you can possibly do to help this wonderful girl. You can make a tax-deductible donation by using the PayPal button below or mailing one in. I am sure if she could come and thank you personally she would and give each and every one of you big sloppy Doberkiss! Thank you all for what you do for these well deserving Dobes!!.
