Aufwiedersehn Gunther... Until we meet again...

Rest
In Peace Sweet Gunny Man ![]()
We all know that saying goodbye is never easy, knowing when to say goodbye is even harder... to release the one you love from his pain and making that pain your own is the greatest sacrifice you can make to deliver the greatest gift you can give - sweet release. As Gunther's Case Manager for the last 2 1/2 years, I have come to know and love this dear G-Man and I have been privileged to be a part of his life... I am humbled and grateful for the very kind words from his Mom, Patty. I thank them for the loving care they have given him all these years... I grieve with them in this time of sorrow and I wish them a quick passage to the time when they can revel in the gift he left them... his life in sweet memories. He will always be with us Patty and Pete - we will keep him alive in our hearts... Rest easy and play hard in Sirius' Garden dear G-Man... I have seen your very bright star! Mars
Please see Gunther through his Mom's eye, now and always...
"Yesterday,
December 10, 2010, we let our Gunther go. He no longer has to take medicine
and eat special foods. He's flying high through the stars. I dreamed of
a canoe floating down a river. Above it, was the night sky with millions of
stars. Below, the water sparkled from the stars. The canoe was empty. I think
the canoe was Gunther's body, traveling to a beautiful place. WE believe his
soul and memories are here in our hearts and in our home. He'll be with us when
Pete and I laugh or smile. He'll be with me as always when I sleep. WE let our
boy, Gunther go. The most saddest yet loving thing to do.
Gunther was such a polite sweet boy. He would want me to thank everyone who
was our friend and who prayed for us. Mars, Gunther's case worker was more than
just a case worker. She has Doberman traits; loyal, kind and gentle, smart and
always with us. Thank you to Special Needs Dobermans for giving us years with
him and to Diamondback Drugs for their help in delivering cost-saving liver
meds when he needed them. In those years we went for car rides, walks and runs,
played in the yard and dug up the dirt. Gunther walked beside his Poppi and
never left our sides. He loved us so much. We treated him like a king and that's
why he stayed with us so long.
November 18, 2001 - December 10, 2010 - Rest in peace our sweet Gunther. We
will miss you so much. "

GRRREAT Gunther, a gorgeous guy posing and at play!!

Gorgeous Gunther, vegging out with his Best Bud!!
Gunther
was a lucky boy when he found his way into Patty's home, a foster for Midwest
Doberman Rescue. At first, he was so painfully shy, but slowly he gained some
confidence with the reassuring care he received. The tests performed found Copper
Toxicosis - another problem from which our dear Dobes suffer. There is no cure,
but it is a somewhat treatable disease where the liver accumulates too much
copper it cannot move out of the liver which then causes sclerosis. Cuprimine
or it's equivalent, penicillamine only slows the process - it does not cure
it. Penicillamine is a chelating agent which is used In Wilson's disease, a
genetic disorder of copper metabolism. Penicillamine treatment relies on its
binding to accumulated copper and elimination through urine. Gunther must have
this costly medicine in order to live. With the help of Diamondback Drugs, SND
is able to provide the meds at half the ordinary cost. But we still need your
help in the form of donations to help SND offset the costly expense of this
medication! With penicillamine, proper diet and the love of his family, Gunther
will have the best in life that his loving family can provide. Thank
you so much for helping Gunther with his medications.
Please help Mr. Gunther's family help him by sending in a tax-deductible donation online by using the PayPal button below, or by mailing one in. Thank you for any assistance you can provide to help with this Great DobeGuy’s therapy with Penicillamine.
