Gracie

Gracie is a 10 year old female found as a stray in Eugene Oregon. She was taken in by Northwest Doberman Rescue who tried to find her owners (they contacted the local shelters in the area and put an ad in the paper. No response.) Her tail is docked, ears not cropped and she had been spayed. She is in a safe and loving foster home right now. She may be elderly, but she still has that Doberman nose that hits your hand asking for attention constantly. She is a very sweet, loving girl. The foster home has kids and she loves to have them pet her.

When Gracie was taken to a local vet the initial conclusions were that she was very undernourished (she was only 33 pounds), has cataracts in her eyes and has terrible teeth with a severe infection. The vet prescribed some antibiotics for the mouth infection. The vet would like to do a blood workup on her and get her teeth cleaned up, removing those that are too far gone. She will also need some arthritis medication and maybe a special diet (she has a very poor appetite that may be partially due to the condition of her teeth). The estimate for the blood workup and dental work is estimated at about $380 before discount (which Marty is working on). The Rescue group has requested assistance for this vet work. They will be picking up the costs for the special diet and the medications but the group is short of funds to cover the major costs.
