Dylan

Dylan is a 6 month old Dobe pup that Las Vegas Doberman Rescue saved after he had been hit by a car. (presumably). He had multiple fractures in the leg and required immediate surgery to stabilize the bones. The fear was that the bone and would be so bad that the leg might have to be amputated. Steve spoke to Brenda Borelli, his rescuer, and authorized the emergency surgery with an initial payment of $300. The vet was willing to take time payments for the bill which he also discounted. The surgery to stabilize the bone and save the leg was successful and Dylan is recovering nicely. Here is a letter from Brenda following Dylan's surgery:

"Thank you so and SND so much for your help. I finally was able to bring Dylan home. The vet actually kept him for a total of 2 weeks, partly because the staff loved him and partly to keep a close eye on him. He is doing fantastic so far, we are doing physical therapy here at home with him and he needs to go have his bandage changed every three days. He has a lot of pins in his leg and apparently he has some exposed bone so that is why we have to keep a bandage over the wound. He will need to have the pins removed a few at a time as his bone heals. We will also be doing x-rays every couple of weeks to see how the bone is healing. While at the vet he gained some weight and he looks much healthier but he is still underweight. I am feeding him 4 times per day dry food with plain yogurt mixed in, in addition to giving him glucosamine chondroitin to help with the bone repair. He is bearing weight on the leg when he is out of his crate and keeping him quiet and crated is quite challenging. He does not like being in the crate and he is very vocal about his feeling. He is doing great on his potty training and will go whenever I take him outside with only one accident indoors (which I caught him while he was doing it and was able to correct). He is a good little boy and I have my fingers crossed that he will heal beautifully.

He now loves all people and is very outgoing. I'm not sure if I told you how he had his tail docked? His owner chopped it off with an ax! This is a growing trend in Las Vegas by younger men mainly with pitbulls however Dylan did suffer the same unfortunate fate."
