Meet
Mister Diesel!!

I just don't
know... Canine OCD? Pica? This does hurt me more than you!!

It was satisfying
while it happened!! YES... I'm so sorry - I have lost so much...

I MUST cut this
out!! Oy... I can't believe I ate the whole thing... the consequences... Sleep...

My name is Diesel,
I am an Eatibus everythingus... This is the beginning of my recovery!!
Diesel is a beautiful, vibrant, and handsome dream-come-true Dobeboy. Pulled from a shelter in Tennessee Sue Szklinski and the rescue angels of Distinguished Doberman Rescue, he was adopted by a very loving family in July 2010. Diesel's family adores him, and everything was going very well for everyone until about a year ago, when Diesel suddenly became ill with an emergency obstruction. His family rushed him to his vet, where he underwent surgery. He returned home to his family and recovered uneventfully. Some time later, Diesel again became ill, and it was discovered he had again ingested some foreign material. Back to the operating room for Diesel, once again to have his abdomen opened and the material removed. In the span of a year, Diesel had undergone $6000.00 worth of surgeries to save his life.
In about the middle of January, Sue was contacted by Diesel's family, who were very frightened and desperate. Diesel, for a THIRD time, had ingested part of his red blanket, and he was very, very ill. His family had now exhausted their financial resources and were unable to pay for the surgery to save this beautiful boy's life. Sue stepped up to the plate -- as she had done for countless other Dobes -- and had Diesel surrendered to her and Distinguished Dobe Rescue. The day Sue picked Diesel up, it was obvious that Diesel was in distress. He was rushed to the emergency vet, who removed remnants of his blanket. A day after this surgery, on the 23rd, it was determined that Diesel's spleen had contorted and he was building up fluid in his abdomen. A splenectomy was performed, part of his intestine resected, the fluid removed and -- hopefully, Diesel will have no more troubles.
It
never ceases to amaze how stoic and brave Dobermans are. Diesel has an
incision that can only be described as frightening and he's on five different
medications to help him recover. He is at Sue's home now, and one would
never know that this dear boy just underwent 2 major surgeries. He is
mobile, happy, affectionate and his delightful self. Because Sue does
not want Diesel to be at home alone, she took him on an extended car ride yesterday,
and he did beautifully. When they arrived home, Diesel planted himself
on the sofa with Sue, head in her lap, looking up at her with those warm, admiring
eyes. Who can possibly resist this young guy? Diesel is now sporting a
basket muzzle, because of his fast and deceptive eat-it-before-you-see-it talent.
Thanks to Sue, the time will come for this lovely and sweet boy to be adopted
again and he needs to be acclimated to not eating everything he sees.
The surgeries to save this wonderful kid's life were incredibly expensive, and
Distinguished Doberman Rescue has asked SND for assistance with Diesel's bills.
Sue and her crew have saved and re-homed countless Dobermans on a very small
budget and this wonderful organization needs YOUR help to save more Dobermans.
Because of DDR's and Sue's intervention, this is a very happy story with a wonderful
outcome. Help us help Sue and DDR save more Dobes like beautiful, sweet
Diesel. Keeping Rescues solvent is critical to the lives of all Dobes
who find themselves abandoned, abused or neglected and needing of RescueAngels
like these!!
