Destiny

Steve received a call from a frantic woman about ten days ago, her Dobe Destiny had to undergo
emergency GI surgery for a possible blockage. Dave picked up the case mid-stream. Destiny's mom,
Michelle, was in quite a state. Destiny had been acting funny and not having bowel movements for four
or five days. They tried some anti-biotics from the vet, but that didn't help. Then the poor girl
couldn't keep food down and was vomiting blood. The vet took some rads, didn't find anything
conclusive, but determined exploratory surgery was needed.
The family didn't have the money for the surgery, the initial $295 they paid on the first visit
tapped them out. Michelle found us and we authorized an emergency GF payment of $300 to get the ball
rolling. The surgery didn't reveal any blockages or anything conclusive, but as can be the case in
these GI trips, the surgery itself and the working around of the intestine can actually get it to
respond and start moving again. The vet didn't zing Michelle with an outlandish bill - and we
all know how expensive GI emergency surgery can get. The grand total, including all the work done on
the first visit, the rads, the surgery, and three days of observation and boarding came to $1020.
