Daisy!

Daisy is wonderful senior fawn Dobe, approximately eight years old, cropped and docked. She was in a shelter where she had been turned in by her former owner because she jumped the fence during thunder storms. Daisy had lived outside all her life. She has a poor coat, a bad hip from an old injury that had not healed properly (but her mobility is fine). In spite of that description she actually is in relatively good health. Daisy was pulled from the shelter by the good folks at Doberman Rescue of Colorado and had been with them for about a week, with her condition already showing signs of improvement.

SND received an emergency call in the wee hours of the morning of August 27 from Chuck Vaile of DRCO. Daisy was bloating and he was seeking help. In the middle of the night one goes to the emergency clinic and they required payment up front. As is the case with all bloat episodes, Chuck had NO TIME to ponder a course of action. (With bloat, you MUST get in the car immediately, drive safely and get to the vet as quickly as possible!) The emergency vet was able to release the pressure and stabilize Daisy. She was then transferred to their regular vet where she had her stomach tacked to prevent future problems. The total bill normally would have come to approximately $3,000, but thanks to Chuck's working relationships with all the vets involved, he was able to reduce that down to $1250. That's great work, and important too; that leaves more resources for the rest of the Dobes that DRCO will be helping in the future!

Daisy has been recuperating very nicely and is regaining strength with every passing day. We are asking for your help with this wonderful senior's care. The remainder of the bill is $500 after SND contributed $300 from the SND Seniors General Fund and DRCO made its payment. If you would like to help sweet Daisy, you can mail us a donation or use the PayPal button below if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation online. Every penny counts!
