A present! Boring... no wonder Blue Belle left it!!                          Say what??

Bleeding from my microchip and bruising all over, nose and mouth... Yikes!!

When you see his picture, one is immediately taken with his show stopping face - but he's just a big Cotton Ball at heart - in other words, soft and cuddly! He's a boy that blasts full volume beauty and grace into your heart. Cotton is still a mere boy, asserting the world around him with unmistakable Doberman aplomb. He was surrendered to a Lafayette, Louisiana shelter when his family could no longer care for him and the wonderful rescue angels of Pilots and Paws ferried him to Carol Fama and Doberman Rescue of the Triad. Cotton is a very lucky boy, but there are dark clouds in the picture for Cotton. This DobeAngel is severely vWD affected - and worse, there is another clotting disorder evident and as yet undiagnosed. The clotting factor problem was discovered when he was being microchipped - it took two days for the bleeding to stop! One good thing about being light colored is that the bruises and subcutaneous bleeding was very evident! Carol has also treated him for his heartworm disease which may have triggered the clotting disorder. Cotton Ball's Case Manager Les just admires Carol so much for taking on these hard cases! She says "...that lady is unbelievable. When I get reincarnated, I wanna come back as one of her Dobes."

Hemophilia is suspected - the same horror that affected Queen Victoria's family and changed the course of history. Inbreeding played a role there and very likely in dear Cotton's lineage too. Cotton must be protected from all manner of bumps, jars and scrapes to avoid a life threatening hemorrhage until he is fully diagnosed and proper medical precautions are taken so he can romp and carouse as every Doberboy should. Doberman Rescue of the Triad is one of the premier rescues in the country and does a stellar service to Dobermans everywhere...but in these times, DRT is strapped for finances and diagnostic testing for clotting disorders is extremely expensive.

Cotton was seen at North Carolina Veterinary Teaching Hospital on May 20th. It is hoped this wonderful happy Dobe can be helped with the most up to date protocols so he can have a full active and happy life with a new family. Won't you please help this most striking and endearing boy with a contribution to his care - now that you've seen him, you will never forget that graceful stance or that beautiful Doberman face.

Please help dear Mr. Cotton and DRT by sending in a tax-deductible donation online by using the PayPal button below, or by mailing one in. No donation is too small; every little bit will help! The harder the times, the harder we must work to provide care to these precious ones... Mr. Cotton, DRT and all of us at SND thank you for any assistance you are able to provide.

Help Cotton!
