The
Saga of a Working Man
Few Dobes can tell the tales of Cobey, a beautiful blue working boy. He was
born at Doberman Rescue Unlimited after his mother and father were dumped unceremoniously
at the Rescue on Mother's Day Eve, 2003. Mom delivered a big litter of lovely
puppies and Cobey was quickly scooped up by Terry and her husband when he was
just 11 weeks old. He has since lived the life of a charmed gentleman...he loves
the water and swims with his Best Friend Forever - (BFF)11 years young Pitcess
mix sister (also a rescue), and he charms every creature he meets. He adores
cats, other dogs, kids, and the senior citizens he meets as he spends his leisure
time. Cobey is a true working Doberman and works beside his his beloved Mom
who is a professional dog trainer and Cobey is her Demo Dog. He has traveled
several times to DRU's Reunion Picnic, held in the fall, where he does advanced
training demonstrations for his fellow adoptee's and their families. In short,
he is the epitome of an all around exceptional Doberman, and naturally, he carries
the Doberman spirit of loving and loyalty... you simply cannot help falling
in love with Cobey.
Cobey is a consummate Dobergent! He sleeps with Mom and Dad at naptime, he hikes the trails of central MA with his sister, Daisy Mae, and swims in the woodland ponds and rivers. At home, he even waits patiently to get his teeth brushed after Mom does hers.
But there are times when life seems to deliver its worst blows to the most beloved. Wonderful, dear Cobey has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma and had his leg amputated to arrest this disease at its origin. While all the pathology reports are not in as yet, his devoted surgeon, Dr. Benson of Vetcisions in Waltham, MA tells us that Cobey's lungs are clear and there was no evidence of trouble in the shoulder where he took Cobey's arm off. He has since had his staples removed and on the 25th of March, he had his first consult for his upcoming chemotherapy.
Terry, her husband Mike, son Brian, BFF Daisy Mae and the rest of her family are breathless and keeping focused on getting their dear gentleman the treatment he needs to defeat this terrible diagnosis. The plan may include physical therapy, as Cobey has an injury to his Achilles tendon and he may need strengthening of his rear leg so he can continue his career as working gentleman and ambassador of DRU.
This journey promises to be expensive and long, but Terry, her husband and her sister Nancy are determined to do anything it takes to keep Cobey comfortable and happy. Won't you please help SND and Cobey battle this monster by clicking the Paypal button below or by mailing a donation in to help this wonderful working Dobergent and his family... every cent is dearly appreciated - no amount is ever too small and we all thank you for your support!
