We don't know how or where Cinnamon encountered the barbarian who tried to kill her, but what we do know is that the sadist almost succeeded in doing the job.
For us, her story started when Animal Control of Decatur Georgia responded to a call regarding a dog that was bleeding. AC found Miss Cinnamon and proceeded to take her to the city pound. However, her wounds were so horrific, the attending veterinarian suggested she be destroyed. Cinnamon was in shock and her wounds were just too severe for AC to treat - she was bleeding and she was going to die.
A
caring individual at AC knew Cinnamon deserved at least a chance to live, and
put out alerts for Doberman rescues - could someone please save her???
Jane Fratesi and Atlanta Doberman Pinscher Rescue wasted no time going to Cinnamon.
But when Jane arrived at AC, she couldn't believe what was before her. A young
Dobie with a nose that someone deliberately tried to HACK OFF! The young dog
was malnourished, covered in mud, blood, and ticks and was frozen in a state
of shock. Cinnamon had to be picked up and placed into a crate, all while her
nose wound and leg wound were actively bleeding. Jane immediately rushed Cinnamon
to her own vet at Gwinnett Animal Hospital of Snellville. There it was recommended
a specialty hospital see Cinnamon due to the extensive injury, so off Jane and
Cinnamon went to Georgia Veterinary Specialists outside of Atlanta.
Still in shock, once at GVS, the crate had to be taken apart to lift Cinny from it so she could be evaluated. She became ill and vomited liver and intestines that was possibly road kill. Cinnamon was medicated for pain and her bleeding brought under control. Her head was xrayed and showed a hacked snout with only a few fragmented pieces of bone. The axe, hatchet or machete that was used to intentionally cause excruciating pain and mutilation had been sharp! One has to wonder - had it been sharpened specifically for this attack?? The deep gash in her right rear leg was cleansed, xrayed and sutured. Did the same sadist also try to hack off her foot?? Click on her alternate page if you can stand to see the extent of cruelty and torture Miss Cinnamon lived through - it is to weep...
Cinnamon was bathed and de-ticked and provided IV fluids, continued pain medication and antibiotics before surgery the following day on her nose. At this time, it appears Cinnamon should recover, at least physically, from her wounds.
If not for the quick action of ADPR, Cinnamon would surely be dead. And while every effort was worth it, they have accumulated a huge bill for the care of Miss Cinny, over $3,000. We at SND and ADPR are asking for your assistance with raising the funds needed to pay for the veterinary care Cinnamon has received. You can help by sending in a tax-deductible donation online by using the PayPal button below, or by mailing one in. And remember, no amount is ever to small. Thank you for any assistance you can provide!
