Catherine

Catherine was picked up as a stray in Denver. She has spent the last several
days in a shelter awaiting the legal period before she could be released.
Chuck Vaile of
Doberman Rescue of Colorado has been watching and waiting since we found out about her a
week ago.
When Chuck pulled her from the shelter, she had a temp of 105 and was in
bad shape. She went immediately to the clinic where she is undergoing tests.
The first thing is that she will need some surgery for a very bad
infection in her mouth -- several teeth are totally rotten and creating
the massive infection which has spread to her sinus cavities --the cause
of the fever. Those will have to go. Given her age (somewhere between
10 to 12) she is also getting the full geriatric tests. Preliminary
indications are that kidney and liver functions are good. She'll be
getting fluids and antibiotics over the weekend and will go in Monday for
the mouth work. In the meantime, it is clear that Catherine is going to
need some financial help from SND.
Of course, Chuck says that she is very very sweet, gets along with
other dogs (they had her housed with other dogs at the shelter).
