Bruiser!

Bruiser
is a "young and energetic" 8
year old Doberman who recently got loose from his owner and was hit by a car.
He suffered a femoral
fracture that left three options; repair, amputation or euthanasia. Due to the
costs and post-opt care involved his owner opted for euthanasia -- but the emergency
vet got Bruiser signed over so she could explore the other options. Bruiser
is SO sweet that she and the staff just couldn't face the prospect of losing
such a wonderful boy! Several Dobe Rescue groups were consulted and Delaware
Valley Doberman Pinscher Assistance (DVDPA) agreed to take Bruiser into
their program. A foster home was located and Special Needs Dobermans
agreed
to support the case financially.
The operation to install a plate on the fractured leg was successful and Bruiser
was well on the way to recovery. While being confined in an X-pen the "energetic
and playful" Bruiser jumped over the side of the pen and dislodged the
plate and screws! It was necessary to re-operate and re-install the plate.
Bruiser is now (much to his dismay) being confined in a crate to curb his enthusiasm.
This wonderful playful Dober-boy has run up a batch of vet bills. Even with
the contributions made by the family of the original owners, the emergency vet,
and local volunteers (everyone loves Bruiser!!) we are still faced with vet
bills totaling over $2,000. We
need your help with the Bruiser's care! This great boy needs to get back to living
a
healthy,
happy and loved life!
