Blitz

Blitz is a handsome red two year old Doberman in the care of Doberman Rescue of Colorado. Doberman Rescue of Colorado first learned of Blitz when Chuck Vaile
received a call from a vet. Blitz had run into a fence, severely injuring two of his legs. His family was prepared
to have him put down because they said it was the third time he had injured himself. Fortunately, Rescue felt
he deserved a chance.
Blitz had a deep long cut on his front leg that cut the muscle all the way to the bone. A portion of the
rear leg (from the knee down to the heel) had just about been totally "de-gloved." In other words the skin
had been removed like one would remove a glove. The initial concerns were whether the front leg sustained
any tendon or nerve damage and also the danger of infection in the rear leg. The vet and staff at the
emergency clinic were so concerned about Blitz and glad that Chuck stepped forward to "save the day" that
they were willing to reduce the estimate from $1500/$1800 to $800/$900. And they were willing to accept
time payments. They went ahead with the surgery on a promise of payment and the final bill was $867.
Blitz was in surgery for a couple of hours, was put on massive antibiotics and sent home with the rescue
group to begin a new life.
